Oh the gelcaps are a thing of the past. The only country that still carries the "eggs" is the Netherlands and they only come in 20 mg and are listed as List I under the "Opium Law". That means they are scheduled alongside morphine, heroin, cocaine, methamphetamine, hydromorphone etc. I think Australia might still have it, but it is generally not prescribed.
The UK definitely doesn't got them no more. They only carry the tablets now. In the United Kingdom, midazolam and temazepam are Schedule III controlled drugs. British law requires temazepam (but not midazolam) to be stored in safe custody. Safe custody requirements ensures that pharmacists and doctors holding stock of temazepam must store it in securely fixed double-locked steel safety cabinets and maintain a written register, which must be bound and contain separate entries for temazepam and must be written in ink with no use of correction fluid. Disposal of expired stock must be witnessed by a designated inspector (either a local drug-enforcement police officer or official from health authority).
We do indeed have the 20mg eggs here in the Netherlands, and as the only benzo that formulation (not the 10mg one) is under List I with the hard drugs. That doesn't seem to stop doctors from prescribing it, though; it has been offered to me as a first-choice hypnotic, on equal footing with the Z-drugs.

Temazepam is the benzo which caused a mass epidemic across two continents - there was a damn good reason for it too. It's absolutely the best benzo hands down!
That may be true, but that's something that's always confused me a bit. On BL, it is widely regarded as euphoric, and easily one of the best benzos - according to a great many, head and shoulders above the rest.
In Finland, temazepam has a reputation as an average benzo that may hit you if you have no tolerance or experience, but which the even slightly experienced can eat like candy. Chlordiazepoxide and oxazepam are universally regarded as pretty useless, but most Finns in my experience would place temazepam above them - VERY few people would even put it in their top 50%. It's very commonly prescribed; if a patient presents with insomnia, almost every GP will offer zopiclone, zolpidem and temazepam right away.
