Question about benzo wd's

Hi

I've been taking about 35mgs of Valium a day for about 2 years and about 4mgs of Xanax a day for 6 months but I have ran out and decided to quit about 3 days ago and prepared myself for the wd's but they never came. Is this normal or would some of the benzos still be in my system and that's why the wd's haven't kicked in yet? If so when would they start?

Any info that might help me kick the habit would be great

Thanks

valium is definitely still in your system. When i withdrawed from clonazepam it took 3 days before it really hit. Be careful, do not do this cold turkey, it could cause seizures and/or death. Get some more valium or something and taper slowly. IMO they will start soon but you may be one of the lucky few that do not experience the withdrawal, wouldn't count on it though. Look up the Heather Ashton manual on google for help quitting.

IME the withdrawals from the valium will begin to kick in anywhere from 5-10 days.

All the luck in the world to you. ;)

Ah shit I thought I might be lucky hope there not to bad will opiates mask the wd's? Cuz I'm also on them only tramadol and dhc and I don't plan on giving it all up at once so ima start with the benzos n then in a few months kick the opiates to ima get another 30 Valium and 60 Xanax in case I need to taper but does this sound like a good plan? And thanks for the quick responses and advice

In short... NO this does not sound like a good plan.

good god, please do not stop cold turkey from benzos esepcially after chronic usage!!!! diazepam is definitely still in your system and is most likely the only thing between you and a seizure. not only that, but you are taking tramadol on top of those which combined with benzo WD guarantees a seizure.

my advice is to stop the opiates before the benzos as you are using weak opiates and WD should not be too harsh.

first, i would stop taking tramadol for 2-3 days while maintaining your DHC dosage. after 2-3 days, i would replace tramadol with DXM as it will cause you only to experience the weak opiate WD from tramadol without feeling the WD from its NRI, NMDA, and serotonergic effects. after that, i would hastely reduce your DHC intake over the course of 2 weeks. this might be tough, but it will be well worth it. after you start to feel better, i than i would tackle reducing your xanax intake over the course of 3-5 weeks until you get to the point where you no longer need xanax to feel normal (i.e. no WD). after that, i would very slowly reduce your diazepam intake and im talking about over the course of anywhere between 3-5 months. finally, taper down to 5mgs or even 2.5mgs if you want and sustain that for 1-2 months. the jump off the diazepam will most likely cause you to be in the most pain as you have been using it for 2+ years every day.

whatever you do, do NOT stop the benzos cold turkey, and i do suggest you WD from tramadol/dhc before the benzos as both of those opioids are fairly weak. not only that, but usually benzo WD is worse than opiate WD, however it does depend on how much opiates you take, for how long, and which opiates you take.

hi

OK thanks for the advice I live in the UK I've never heard ofdxm before what exactly is it? Is it an otc Med? If so do you know any brand names

Once again thanks for the good advice

If need-be, call your doctor and explain that you've run short of your benzo's and if he doesn't call you something in, go to an urgent care clinic or an ER as it would be medical negligence on their part to not give you something until your next prescription comes in...vallium has a VERY LONG taper schedule...yes, you can taper quicker than the source mentioned above, but I would try to taper over a minimum of 2 months because of it's uber-long half-life...good luck to you...
