Hi all,
SWIM has been using poppy seed tea on and off for about 2 years now.
Recently (over the past 4 months) SWIM has increased his usage to "most days" around 5 days a week.
It's time for SWIM to stop all together and here's why...
From time to time SWIM has felt his liver. No pain, but just an uncomfortable feeling in the right abdomen. SWIM has been worried about the effects of the tea on his liver for a while now but all the information he finds on the net tends to state that morphine and these other opiates are fine for the liver.
What SWIM believes is that he's taken it too far and at best now have fatty liver disease or Steatohepatitis. He believes this not only because of the physical feelings in his abdomen, but slight jaundice in his outer eyeballs accompanied by a yellowing of the tongue.
He'll be tapering with codeine for the next few days and will hopefully be seeing some improvements in about a week.
Either way, a trip to the doctor wont be too far away to get some tests done, but most likely after he has stopped with opiates.
I hope this helps anyone in the same position. I know some people who use regularly like me so I'm sure there are more out there.
Feel free to let me know if you are experiencing anything similar or have any further questions.
