I always loved Portugal so I'm really happy for them, can't wait to the see them beat the French in the semis. Yes I do believe the French have a plan, they lost on purpose to Sweden to avoid us Italians, would have been a brawl as usual, so now they can concentrate on coming up with a strategy to get rif of the Spaniards.

Where would you play Viana he's no striker he's best at central mid where they have Mountinho
Quality player i used to see him play for Braga, as a youngster he went to the Toon for big money but never settled.
Also Quaresma who i watched play the Best Footy of his career at Porto is very inconsistent i would be surprised if he got a run .

Yeah they never have a good striker. Back in the day they had quite a few star midfielders e.g. Rui Costa, Deco, Figo, Conceicao but then Nuno Gomes doing the Postiga role. At least Postiga won't be fucking things up anymore. Nani is another one who is very inconsistent.

Not going to happen but I'd like to see Ronaldo playing as the centre foward instead of Almeida/Oliveira/Varela and play someone else on the left creating more chances for him. He's wasted standing on the wing with his hands in the air calling for the ball and then he tries to do it all himself. Assuming Spain win, he could cause Pique and Ramos serious problems.

No striker for Spain again tonight.
 
not watched much of the Euro's with about 3hrs in total before last night. how bad were the French "team" was like 2 or 3 groups of lads wearing the same jerseys.

on tonights game if England play well i reckon they will win and make the semi's.

Ashley Cole that was a shite penalty kick, at least put some power in your shot.
At least the team as a whole gave us some hope for the future

They have two. Ogbonna and Balotelli, of Nigerian and Ghanian descent but both born in Italy.

Pirlos performance was just coolness and class personified, gave a masterclass and footballing lesson tonight. His penalty was plain genius. How Ashley Young was left on the pitch to take a pen is insane. Rooney, Carroll, Young, Milner, Henderson, Gerrard(tonight), all absolute rubbish. They looked like they'd been out boozing last night. Would've been very harsh on Italy not to go through.

Germany should beat them easy enough.

Still amazed at how AC Milan could let Pirlo leave on a free transfer!

By not being able to string 3 passes together and getting outplayed in every single game and playing for penalties in the first knockout game? They need to change their style in a big way.

If Capello had gone and played the exact same tactics he would've been hung, drawn and quartered. England were saved a thumping from Germany in the semi final

Easy to say now but he should never have started. That's probably 4 of the worst games he's played in his career. You see in face he didnt want to take one. Cole took the exact same pen he did in the CL final which Buffon watched.
 
Personally I thoroughly enjoyed the match.

I am half German though, and I was banking on a Germany-England game.

Tbh, I'm fairly relieved we're out: the Germans would have completely ruined us in the semis. Never been a huge England fan - it's hard to care when we continue to be predictably rubbish and our squad's players are always so much better for their clubs.

We were good for about 20 minutes against the Italians in the first half. After that it seemed like we were simply playing for penalties. Which to everyone's great surprise, allowed Ashely Young an opportunity to take a pen. Baffling choice...he was never going to score. Completely useless throughout this Tournament. Hodgson's incompetence shone through there. He shoulda subbed the guy at half time for Oxlade. At least then we might have held onto the ball for longer than two passes. But probably not. Being English, your greatest chance at glory in football is through your club's achievements.
 
Well Suburu if we can finish top of our group and have the Italians have to take us to penalties to beat us and that's with us playing shit then I don't think that's too bad at all.
Imagine if we were at the top of our game then where we would we be then?
I don't think we done too bad at all as we apparently played like crap.

Ye finished top of the group ahead of France. Did you see France last night? If ye were on top of your game, you would still be going out in the 1/4 finals playing that style. As admirable as your positive view on it is, its pretty blind imo. Not really sure I'd be proud of going out the way ye did. After the Glenn Johnson chance it was a toothless, shadow chasing, negative perfomance. I'd love to know how he could take off Welbeck(who played better than Rooney) and why Ashley Young played 120 mins? Or leave Chamberlain sitting and play Henderson? Surely the rest of the world saw Young play an attrocious game too?

England, possibly the most boring team in the Euros, made a very average Italy side look like Barcelona. The Germans will be gutted they are not facing them. Granted they can defend pretty well but you would expect that with their back 5 and Hodgsons tactics. They're extremely lucky to have a keeper like Joe Hart. As good as Pirlo was, some cunt should of fucking nailed him after 3 minutes instead of letting him do what he wanted for 2 hours.

The 2 English players that passed to each other most were Joe Hart to Andy Carroll. It happened 17 times. Why can't these players try and actually play football? Rooney and Carroll looked like League One players, no disrespect to League One. Henderson? Milner? Parker? All offer nothing cos they panic and have nosebleeds if they have to pass the ball forward.

The last time England had a player that can play (Scholes, their best player of the last 20 years) they made him play on the left wing, so he retired! England needs to develop more like Scholes, Gazza, Gerrard and they might make it past a 1/4 finals of a tournament in the next 20 years, like 1990. The Germans had the same problem 12 years ago so they did something about it. Now look at all the fanstastic young players coming through for them.

If you look at our attacking and midfield (trying to string a few passes togethor) its been pretty bad so far, anyway I thought england played some good football at points we just seemed to completely die out in the second half, if gerrard had got injured though we would have been fucked, whos his cover... henderson and defender phil jones? We would have just got dicked on by the germans, we where just chasing the ball for 70 minutes and I dont know how many more tournaments rooney is going to be relied on, failing each time but still given another chance, if it was anyone else theyd have been hung out to dry by now, anyway the squad had no depth... time to raise hopes again for the WC yeh?
