Bath salts linked to another bizarre biting attack

Sorry if this has already been posted, it's hard to keep up with these 'bathsalts agro articles'

POLICE in Missouri are investigating the possibility that a woman was on synthetic drugs marketed as "bath salts" when she attacked and bit her neighbor, KCTV reported Friday.

It was not clear if the unidentified woman has been charged in the attack. Her landlord said she had not returned to her Kansas City home and could be in a hospital or mental health facility.

The victim, Charles McBride, said she attacked him last week and bit his arm where he had a nicotine patch.

"I've seen her do some crazy stuff, but not that," McBride told KCTV.

After biting him, he recalled, the woman dropped to all fours and began "digging in the ground, like a dog would."

When police arrived at the scene, "they tried to grab her and then she started kicking back at them," according to McBride.

A police report corroborated the victim's account, saying, "her left leg was mule-kicking and she had what appeared to be dirt in her mouth."

Bath salts have been known to make some users aggressive and behave bizarrely.

Authorities in Florida suspect that Rudy Eugene was on the drugs when he was fatally shot by cops on May 26 beside a Miami freeway. He was naked and chewing on the face and eyes of 65-year-old homeless man Ronald Poppo, and reportedly continued even after he had been shot once by an officer.

Bath salts are also believed to have been involved in the cases of two other Miami-area men.

One of them growled at police while in custody and attempted to bite off a cop's hand, and the other allegedly exposed himself to a three-year-old girl while sexually threatening her at a children's playground near the North Miami Beach police headquarters.

What drug specifically is doing this? That's what I'd like to know. Is it just stimulant psychosis? Because if you told me someone ate someones face off or was biting someone I would bet money on PCP but it doesn't appear to be.

i dont know, I was under the impression it was a mix of drugs that sometimes could contain MDPV?

Bath salts

Bath salts are a new designer drug that are increasingly the target of statewide emergency bans and federal considerations because the substance is linked to severe hallucinations and acts of self-harm or suicide. Known chemically as MDMA, bath salts have a stimulant effect and create anxiety, paranoia, and mind-altering effects that have been compared to methamphetamine and heroin. Bath salts are easily accessible in boutique drug stores in the U.S. and online, as well as in Europe. The synthetic powder is sold under names like “Ivory Wave” or “Vanilla Sky” and is smoked, snorted, or injected.
The synthetic drug called “bath salts” is actually a blend of complex chemicals that has been compared to the strength of methamphetamine, and is believed responsible for hundreds of emergency room visits and several fatalities across the nation. With its potency also compared to heroin and cocaine, federal agencies are considering stronger bans and restrictions nationwide on bath salts.
Unlike their name, bath salts aren’t used in the bath, but are injected, snorted through the nose or smoked. Known chemically as mephedrone and methylenedioxypyrovalerone, or MDPV, bath salts have street names like “Bliss,” “Ivory Wave,” “Red Dove” and “Vanilla Sky” or “White Lightning.” The substance is most commonly sold in powder form.
The physical effects of bath salts are dangerous or life-threatening, including rapid increases in heart rate, extreme paranoia, hallucinations and thoughts or attempts at suicide. Severe effects from the drug’s stimulant properties have been reported at emergency rooms across the country. Family members of bath salt users have reported acts of “craziness” that lasted for several days, including facial contortions and terrible hallucinations.
Due to being relatively accessible, easily concealed and more affordable than other street drugs, bath salts continue to rise in use, and poison control centers across the U.S. have seen significant increases in calls related to bath salts in 2011.
Bath salts have been banned in several states, but are still sold legally in boutique drug or party shops and on many Internet sites. States that have issued bans on bath salts include Florida, North Dakota and Louisiana. States considering bans include Mississippi, Kentucky and Hawaii.

Known chemically as MDMA
??? huh...

also they're saying it's like heroin and cocaine and crystal meth

now i've never done either of those drugs, but i'm pretty sure heroin is kind of the opposite of meth and coke when it comes to effects.

It's mass hysteria. One dipshit does it and everyone else thinks about it while they're on "bath salts" and it all of a sudden sounds like a good idea.

It seems like every American article in the past month or so that mentions the substances in bath salts states that they are mephedrone, methylone, MDPV or a combination of the three. That probably used to be true, but in the US all three were emergency scheduled in 2011. I doubt there are very many if any head shops or gas stations that still carry any bath salts with these substances. I have no idea what is in bath salts now though, and I don't really care to find out.

I think that from now on, anytime someone acts psychotic or tries to bite someone else, the cops will say they suspect bath salts as the culprit.

There's nothing better than mass hysteria to get new laws passed.

Won't someone PLEASE think of the children!?

It's a MediaWiki like Wikipedia. There's a big, juicy link at the top that says "Create Account". Let's have some fun!

This is such a joke, it's moral panic at it's finest. None of these cases have actually been linked to RC use, it's just speculation.

Crazy incident happens, the cops who investigate hear that there's a drug thats causing people to do crazy shit so they suggest that the might have been involved as a possible explanation, media jump on it and release 'NEW BATH SALTS CASE SOME DUDE BITES OFF SOME OTHER DUDES DICK' or whatever, and round the cycle goes.

It's bizarre behaviour that happens anyway, being attributed to a drug via pure speculation, then the story is being pushed by the media because 'DANGEROUS NEW DRUG CAUSES PEOPLE TO EAT EACHOTHER' is a better story than 'SICK CRAZY PEOPLE DO CRAZY SHIT BECAUSE THEY'RE CRAZY (AND OUR MENTAL HEALTHCARE SYSTEM SUCKS)'

I dare say that in the states the d.e.a worked in conjunction with the fun police to ban bath salts in almost every state in the U.S. Once the compounds of these drugs are discovered, then outlawed by the d.e.a, all these companies do is slightly change the formulue (pardon my lack of chemistry) or compound so as to bypass any further interference by these enforcement agancies.. and market their "new improoved formula 7 or whatever"..

The agencies are aware of this but can do little until they know of the new compounds. So a continual game of cat and mouse will ensue, bath salts are still available via the internet, and the drug enforcement agency tries in vane to stop the scourge and blame everything on bath salts, because they feel powerless to stop them.

Hate to be a dick because i'm usually not, but when I saw this thread, I said to myself "Those British people and bath salts don't mix" because if i'm not mistaken, most of the cannabalism coming from bath salts have been from the U.K. or U.S.

such bullshit. I've read like 4 stories in the past few weeks all linking cannibalism to bath salts when there is no evidence of the people people even taking bathsalts. bath salts and synthetic drugs are smeared pretty bad. I also love the ignorant people speculating that pcp could be the culprit. what the media is doing to bath salts now is exactly what they did to pcp.
