Benadryl (diphenhydramine) as an opoid potentiator

Evening BLerzzz,

So I'm currently floating on an opiate cloud and wondering if it'd be worth getting some Benadryl to potentiate the experience?

I refuse to climb the opiate ladder any further. I use Dihydrocodeine but won't use anything stronger due to just being generally afraid of falling into another addiction. I'm only 19 and I've already been through a Mephedrone addiction (16 months of heaven and hell) and have been close to addiction with Methoxetamine.

However, I've read several times that Benadryl potentiates opiates so I'm wondering, for like <no prices> a packet, do you think it'll make much of a difference seeing how I'm only using a moderate strength opoid?

If they were cheap I'd probably just buy some and test for myself but I don't really want to waste <no prices> if it won't make much difference as I'm saving for a new car and every penny counts! :D

Edited your post a bit as we don't allow prices, I know it's a legal OTC drug, but prefer to err on the side of caution ;)

For a start, I recommend looking for the generic, 'Tesco brand' pills, for diphenydramine. Benadryl is just a name brand, which means they'll charge you triple for the same thing.

DPH can indeed potentiate opis, if you haven't used it i'd perhaps do a slightly lower dose of opis than normal and then taper up. Also, make sure not to do more than about 50-75mg of DPH at a time, at higher doses it'll stop being potentiating and sedating, and will instead just give you rapid heart rate and delerium.
 
I've never tried it but I've read promising things. Apparently diphenydramine/antihistamines also will help with itching
 
^ yep. If you're just looking to get rid of the itch without any sedative effects though, it's better to go for 2nd or 3rd gen antihistamines, such as loratadine and cetirizine.

I use Loratadine at the moment and it does help. But it seems Diphenhydramine gives with both hands! It gets rid of the itch and potentiates the experience, win win! :D

I never thought of getting a supermarket's own brand, cheers! :) Do you not think I might get questioned at all specifically asking for Diphenhydramine? :p
 
I use diphen all the time as a chronic pain patient, although I much prefer my hydroxyzine script which I tend to run through rather quickly as I find it to be at least 3x the potentiating power as diphenhydramine.

And antihistamines are not really potentiators in the true sense, they mostly just enhance the nod. True potentiators such as cimetadine are actual chemical potentiators rather than just increasing the nod effect.

'Syngergizers' would be a better term than potentiatior but 'potentiator' is used as sort of a catch-all around here.
 
Are they POM? I doubt they can be found easily on the street if they are POM but you've definitely made Hydroxyzine sound interesting! :)

Think I'll get me some diphenhydramine then (thanks for the advice guys!), I just hope they don't question me, it makes me feel really stupid.

Not at all, no more so than if you went in and asked for ibuprofen by name. If anything, you can always say it's for allergies, or to help you sleep =D
 
i call bullshit the only thing anti histamines do such as benydryl promethazine hydroxazine, is make you a bit more sedated and less itchy/nauseous
 
As everyone said it can (and probably will) help with itching if u don't like it (I personally do for whatever reason; still take the benadryl though xP)
I use it as a potentator, as some have said just get OTC walmart brand 'sleep aid' (check the lable 2 make sure there only diph) there so much cheaper and come w/ A LOT more for A LOT less.
If ur worried about questioning then this is also a benifit of the walmart sleep aids (equate is the 'brand name') as walmart doesn't care and there kinda self explanitory on the box xP
 
^ some, not all first generation antihistamines are cyp450 2d6 inhibitors and not all opioids are 2d6 substrates anyway.

IME Antihistamines are overrated for Opiate potentiation. (Many on here will strongly disagree!)

Dont get me wrong Antihistamines are great for lessening the itches and there also great anti-nausea tools... But for really good potentiation.. now i only recommend this if you have a tolerance, then Benzodiazepines are number 1 :) Also Weed is another great potentiator.

Now there may also be others who disagree with me on those last 2 points, obviously the firrst recommendation is not harm reduction, thats whay i suggest to only do it if you have a tolerance to both drugs... but that aside a lot of people just prefer the unadulterated Opiate high and they find that Benzos and/or Weed disrupt this.

personally i dont seem to get much benefit from antihist,amines but i do enjoy mixing in a very small quantity of alcohol (like 4-5 ounces of beer) although be warned this is also a good way to push you over the edge so to speak. I also like to take half my regular dose but of two different opiates like instead of 1X mg oxy or 1X mg hydro take .5X mg oxy and .5X mg hydro together, it seems to produce a greater effect than one alone, or even better take 1/3 dosage of three opiates just dont mix in any partial agonists (tramadol) they will screw everything up. But really the best potentiator for opiates is simply more opiates.
