Good Mortar and Pestle?

Can anyone recommend a good mortar and pestle or a pill crusher? Perhaps direct me to the website where you got yours? I am sick of using a lighter and a razor blade.

I've got a cast iron mortar (and pestle, yes) that I use for grinding spices for cooking - I'm 100% sure that the surface of the mortar now is much smoother at the bottom, meaning that I've been eating cast iron powder. Maybe using mortar and pestle is common for whatever you want to do, just be sure to buy something that won't exhibit the same phenomenon, if you want to snort/inject/smoke the powders you obtain.

I just found this one.. it looks nice only downside is price and you have to use those little bags.

I just tried the one I got from Bed Bath and Beyond and it did a great job with crushing and I am sure that granite is not as bad to eat as cast iron.

The only thing I don't like about the one I have is there seems to be a bit much of leftover powder in the mortar that I don't know how to get out (so I just rinsed it with a small amount of water and drank the solution).

If u wanna just be ghetto either break the pills into smaller pieces and put um in parchment paper and fold it up. From there u can just hit it with a hammer a few times or put it in the bottom of a pill bottle and use it like a mortar and pestel. Both very effective. The hammer one takes all of a minute total from breaking um 2 VERY good powder. And it holds it all inside.
Just use a diff one every couple uses or it'll rip and powder will be wasted ( lol

Granite is composed of several minerals, which are mostly comprised of the elements Silicon, Potassium, Sodium, Calcium, Aluminum, Magnesium, and Iron, so you might end up with some iron anyway, although it would only be found in small amounts in the biotite (very soft and flakes easily) and amphibole, which doesn't make up that much of the granite. There is a large amount of aluminum in granite, so that may pose some health risks. I also think that granite would be too coarse to use, making some of the powder a bit hard to get out from between the mineral grains.

I think that a ceramic mortar and pestle would be a better bet, and you wouldn't have to worry about iron and aluminum getting into the powder. With mortars and pestles made out of rocks you have to worry about how coarse it may be (although I'm sure that the manufacturer polishes it down) and then of course some minerals getting into the powder.

If you go to the "old people section" of any retail pharmacy (such as CVS, Walgreens, Duane Reade) along with the stool softeners, 30 day pill cases and reading glasses, there should be a blue and white "Pill Crusher"...

This is what I have and use when I'm at home and using Roxies/Opana...

Basically it's 2 halves that screw together. You open it up, put your pill inside, screw the top back on and boom, powder! You can also store powder in there for later or on the go.

Just search "pill crusher" on Google and find it on your favorite ginormous online retailer... or go to the pharmacy. I ain't your Mama! Make your own damned decisions! Bwahaha... sorry, Ambien...

I ordered these and they just came in. I love the smaller sizes!! Much better than using that huge one from BB&B. These things make me feel like a real pharmacist whereas the one from BB&B made me feel like a rock smasher.

Already tested the larger one. Works great!!! I can see using the smaller one for individual/tiny pills.

They are porcelain. You can find them at a pharmacy called Ocelco Medical Supply.

I have a stainless steel one similar to this

and instead of the motar I'll use a regular glass and crush my pills(15-30 tylenol 1) it saves so much time and it's a must if you're snorting or dissolving pills

^haha; I have that one too. It's like antique though and dusty, so I don't use it, maybe I should clean it hehe.
It's not really a must though. A piece of paper and a lighter can get the job done just as well.
Pestle and mortar are ofcourse better, but if I hadn't one already I wouldn't bother. (And I'm not even sure if I will. It's decoration.
