Just a idea about music?

Hi Guys,

I am new here as a registered member however I browsed the forum quite a bit before...

Basicly, i've come up with a idea... Would this work? - Purchased the domain now (http://www.helpmeroll.com & http://www.helpmybuzz.com)

Have a SHOUTcast radio up atm, http://helpmeroll.com/listen-live-radio.php

Will eventually have a station for dubstep, drum and bass, jungle, techno, trance, etc...

Costs to run the site are not a problem either...

I already have build the backend and front end with small design but what I'm thinking is having a website you can visit whilst your 'rolling' and on this website will be good songs to listen to whilst 'rolling' these tracks would be submitted by other users of the drug... People will be able to vote up and down on songs and it will be built as a non-stop track listing...

I would also bring out a radio station broadcasted live via shoutcast of all the tracks submitted....

What are peoples thoughts on this?

People with OCD, or addictive personalities can end up stuck in a loop of doing the same things over and over, ive been their myself.
So the problem im seeing with your idea is that people might make it a regular thing, and consuming mdma on a regular basis is a bad idea.

In fact, i would say the best way to use mdma, is rarely and in the best setting. A festival would be a great way to enjoy it, as they are expensive and you wouldnt go to them often but the experience is amazing.
My time at a festival on mdma was the best experience on mdma ive ever had.
 
I wouldn’t personally use it because have more records than would be considered healthy but I could see how that would be popular. I have friends that don’t know much about music and are always asking me to make them a rolling playlist for when they roll with friends at their house, this would be perfect for them.
 
Okay, I do take both your opinions in but this could ALSO be used for people that like this type of music?

Brought 2 domains, going to get site designed and up maybe tonight, I will do this for purposes of teaching myself things but also as a small project...

Am I aloud to post my domains here when I reach a BETA stage?

Spotify has an app that's exactly what you described, called Soundrop. It connects via Facebook, so I'd name it something that isn't directly associated with drug use. But people submit songs, others vote up or down on them, and they get played in a playlist to everyone in the room at the same time. There's also a chat, so everyone can shoot the shit while fucked up.
 
It's a cool idea, I for one just love the music sober so I support it but I definitely see Sam's point there which is why you should take the correct procedures to make it apparent that you shouldn't roll more than once a month. Maybe you could put up some basic harm reduction notes up on the website too and a link to BL? You could also include dancesafe's MDMA info card (image here). Wouldn't want to encourage people to roll every Friday and visit your website. I would say go ahead and do it because I for one would enjoy it almost everyday and it would be a great thing to put on during a house party! Once again nice idea.

That would be a great idea. Scratch what Darksidesam said, people with OCD can do a million other stuff and get stuck in a loop, so you won't be affecting anyone. I mean, everyone has free-will.. Fuck them if they are stupid and get stuck in a loop of using mdma too often and die or whatever. Natural selection FTW. But your site won't make the slightest difference in people with OCD. That's such a stupid thing to say.

Sam, don't discourage the man, he has a great idea and he should go ahead with it. Who are you to say he shouldn't?

So it's a great idea. Think about it. You have a mini-rave at your house, but you don't know/don't have a good techno/electro/whatever playlist. So instead of having to search youtube for "good rave songs" or whatever, you just go on to that website, and it will play awesome tracks, so you can just dance and enjoy yourselves and not have to have to search for songs all night long :)

Not bad at all, no need to make it super complex, what you could do is include some sick visuals? Just a thought. Anyways looking forward to the full website, keep us posted updated please!

i love the voting system too!
if you can, i suggest for design: cool visuals. trippy shit. colorful stuff. beautiful things. nature, etc. or illusions! theyre great cuz theyre still images which could (prob) be easy to make as a background, yet they still fuck with you.

different genre playlists/areas. an electronica/tehcno area, which would prob be the most visited area, and then "other" which could be other genres.
i say this because personally it would kind of suck to JUST see techno and whatnot. not every roller is a fan of electronica (i am, just not while rolling)

and lastly, maybe a section where you just have a bunch of images or illusions and whatnot.

either way i love the idea, and perhaps you should have a note on your page which says you don't condone mdma abuse and whatnot.

while i admire your desire to try something out, this just seems like a total non-starter to me. i can't think of anything less interesting than being stuck on the web while enjoying mdma...

also, you can't really do anything on the site without registering. that's annoying. half the features on the site link to a page that says "coming soon". so annoying. if you want people to visit your site once and never return, that's a pretty good way of making sure...

It's a good site for someone who doesn't know too much about EDM. So yeah, it's a pretty good idea. It's just that i have a feeling most of the music will be commercial EDM. We'll see how it goes. :)

I purchased the domain yesterday.... I'm developing live as I go along, I'm not after people to want to use it I'm doing it to learn some PHP whilst doing something I enjoy.

He just started the web site and has those set up as dumbie pages right now. I've worked in web development and design so I know that right now he just put text there so there was something on the page. Give it another week or so, if he or she is dedicated to making this site you should see a lot more progress!

Just to prove to you that he or she just started this site like a few days ago:
