Kentucky to change execution method from 3 drugs

You'd rather be killed by potassium chloride than by propofol?

I think Ohio has a better method of execution. Isn't it something along the lines of hydromorphone/diazepam IV?

I mean, I'm not digging into politics too deeply here, but IMO; there are tons of flaws with any death penalty/lethal injection.

A tad bit cruel.

I think the death penalty is pretty backwards and the fact that people get wrongly executed is reason enough for it to be abolished, no matter how small the chance of it happening if it isn't a 0 percent chance then its not viable. Also you should take a look at what other countries execute people are they really countries that are advanced and rational?

The Ohio protocol, developed after the incomplete execution of Romell Broom, ensures the rapid and painless onset of anesthesia by only using sodium thiopental and eliminating the use of Pavulon and potassium as the second and third drugs, respectively. It also provides for a secondary fail-safe measure using intramuscular injection of midazolam and hydromorphone in the event intravenous administration of the sodium thiopental proves problematic.[18]

Primary: Sodium thiopental, 5 grams, intravenous Secondary: Midazolam, 10 mg, intramuscular, and hydromorphone, 40 mg, intramuscular

Now that's a drug cocktail I can get behind.

There was a study done, although I have no source, that supports the theory that the death penalty has no effect on whether or not someone will commit the crime. This means that the death penalty, since it does not serve as a preventative method, has only one purpose; moral retribution. I agree with psychomimetic, the government has no business in doing this.

A repeal of the death penalty would certainly result in an apocalypse of rape and murder.

That's a very naive view. At the least, there is little correlation between capital punishment. If anything, one could compare countries like the USA which has one of the highest murder rates in the Western world and has the death penalty, against the very low murder rates of European countries which have abolished it

I think the death penalty is aout as equally as effective at preventing crime as drug prohibition - it only really starts to work when you apply it at a level that inconveniences everyone greatly, like public executions for grafitti or something. Even then, it seems deterrents never have a 100% efficacy.

lol it was sarcasm. Painless death penalty is certainly useless
