Hello all,

I would like to start by saying that the massive amounts of Tramadol I have inadvertently come to possess were prescribed for my dog, who has been dead for months now (so save me the deprivation of medication argument). I assume the Tramadol prescribed for canines is no different than the Tramadol prescribed for people?

I have heard many mixed reports on the recreational usage of Tramadol. Most seem to hate it, or consider it worthless, but there are plenty who swear by it. I love opiates and since I now have mountains of Tramadol I figure I might as well test the waters and see for myself.

There are a handful of questions I was hoping could be answered;
1. What can I expect from Tramadol? What about it do people like? What do they hate?
2. What would be a good starting dosage for someone with a 30 - 35 mg hydrocodone tolerance?
3. How long does it last compared to other opiates?
4. Would you say the SNRI property is responsible for the euphoria some people report? (If so, I believe I will be staying away from this one).
5. Is there anything else I should know about Tramadol, other than the fact that it lowers the seizure threshold? (I ask this because Tramadol seems to be quite a mysterious opiate).

Thanks!

It is an interesting Opiod, I had some Tramadol last week on Wednesday about 75 mg. I felt very social, contrary to other opioids you will feel stimulation with Tramadol, Increased Sociability, Stress Reduction and increased giggling and laughter. I do think that some of its effect are due to SNRI mechanisms within the brain.
The strongest effects last 1 hour and all the effects are amplified with Alcohol, Effects linger up to 3 hours though( depends on how much you take, I would recommend you don't take too much) . Tramadol seems to be a fast acting Anti-Depressant I believe that the mental effects you gain when you take it are due it to acting like a SNRI you will feel energetic an ability to talk and if your with friends you will have a good time just talk a lot and chill out ,it has a structural formula similiar to Venlafaxine and it is related to VENLEFAXINE( Effexor).

1. What can I expect from Tramadol? What about it do people like? What do they hate?

It gives a mild opioid buzz that is very similar to a nice caffiene/basic low dose stim buzz. People seem to either hate or love it. Some few lucky people actually can get really fucked up from tram, while others have seizures at moderate doses (why you should start low and work your way up).

2. What would be a good starting dosage for someone with a 30 - 35 mg hydrocodone tolerance?

Taking a day off first... sorry, not what you probably want to hear. FIRST: are you prone to seizures? if so, this drug isn't for you. if you've never had a seizure, then start off taking 150mg. probably won't do much for you given your tolerance. up your dose to a total of 300mg over a couple hours. once you get used to tramadol you can eventually take 300-400mg at a time to try and get a buzz, but this is dangerous in any case. Like I said, if you ever have had a seizure just save yourself a lot of trouble and take nothing but theraputic doses of tram (as in doses people might take who are trying to detox, 50-100mg instant release).

3. How long does it last compared to other opiates?

Something I like about the high is that it can last a while. Not like methadone or bupe, but at a good four hours when I take 300mg.

4. Would you say the SNRI property is responsible for the euphoria some people report? (If so, I believe I will be staying away from this one).

No fricking idea. I don't think any of us can do more than speculate. Might be a topic for ADD? Regardless, the SNRI aspect is probably responsible for the anti-d effects of the drug some experience.

5. Is there anything else I should know about Tramadol, other than the fact that it lowers the seizure threshold? (I ask this because Tramadol seems to be quite a mysterious opiate).

technically it's not an opiate. I'm not even sure it's a real opioid, but rather a pseudo opioid or something. but you hit it on the money here: you're main concern is avoiding a seizure. one can't be to careful until you know your relationship to the drug.

and let me end by repeating that it seems like people either love or hate tramadol. in my case I love it - gives me a very nice high and I like the fact I can use it on top of my bupe. but for many others is produces no real enjoyable high.

although at lower dosages it probably isn't a BIG issue, you really want to AVOID using tramadol and alcohol together (especially if you plan on (ab)using them to get high). alcohol fucks with your seizure threshold (to my knowledge briefly raising it and then smashing it downward into danger danger territory). just wanted to point this out. I've certainly has some cider after going on a bike ride and taking 400mg, but this is not a good idea. far from safe, that's for sure.

Thanks, toothpastedog. Since I only use once a week I think I'm gonna stay away from Tramadol. I think the likely hood, based on your report, of me liking it is slim and I don't want to waste my only opiate night a week having an indifferent or poor time. However, this is not to say I won't be trying it one of these days... like I said, I have a ton! If I do I will PM you and let you know how it went.

Also, I would never combine alcohol and opiates. Opiates are like a very rare, expensive steak and alcohol is like ketchup - why the fuck would you mix the two??

LMAO.. I love your analogy, and agree whole-heartedly. Like smoking weed with pills, such a waste for me.

Haha yeah and it's not as if I don't like ketchup, just not with my damn steak!

Have you tried smoking when you are coming down from the opiates? I agree as well that smoking while on opiates is a waste, but i'd say around 3 hours after ingestion some weed really hits the spot. Very mellow and relaxing.

Yes! I agree completely.. Also (I am not much of a drinker but) I occasionally like to drink when I am coming down.. I try to plan my use so that I am coming down right about the time I am ready to lay back/eat/watch TV.. Smoke a bowl and veg out for an hour or so and then crash.

Ah that's interesting. I am a fairly frequent drinker but I have never drank after taking opiates. Even though I subject my body to god knows what, I just can't bring myself to drink after taking acetaminophen. I suppose because I already drink quite a bit, that consuming alcohol AND acetaminophen is just asking for liver issues. Perhaps I'll try some when i'm coming down the next time I can get my hands on some pure opiates... hydromorphones or those increasingly rare generic oxycodones with no acetaminophen.

lately I haven't been able to sleep after opiates without taking a small dose of benzo's.

Ahh, yes I don't mix with acetaminophen ever, I always take 30's or 15's that are pure besides filler/binding shit. I just tend to get extra fucked up if I drink after using opiates, it isn't safe I know but I tend to do a lot of things that are not really in my best interest. Smoking weed is always the better option I think.

You're very lucky to have access to those. I'm always stuck doing a CWE or just dealing with the consequences. How long do you you wait until drinking after taking opiates? I'm sure it can't be that bad if you at least wait until you're coming down and you don't get absolutely plastered. How often do you take opiates?

You're very welcome :) thx for the thx ;) ...some people love mixing booze and opioids, despite it's inherent dangers. I, too, find the combo undesirable. everyone's different I guess...
