Opioids The right dose

Impossible. Your body can only metabolize 400mg max. Anything more is a waste.

Since you were dependent on codeine, you are addicted to opiates. Therefore, you are already dependent on Oxy and will experience withdrawals.

Wrong, it used to be believed that only the codeine converted to morphine caused the effects which is limited but now it's been discovered that another metabolite in codeine also contributes to a lot of the effects I think it's called like cy6 or something but yea it is not limited to just 400. + some people can metabolize more into morphine than others, 400mg is the average. + I doubt he was dosing 1000 mg at once , it was likely a morning and evening dose.

I'm in the same boat as Ergic. I've had meds stolen from me. Long story short, I had to go through benzo withdrawal because I had meds pilfered from me. Stealing someone's meds, especially when they're dependent on them is a fucking lowlife thing to do. Put yourself in their shoes and try to imagine what they're feeling when a) they feel violated because someone stole from them and b) any withdrawal effects from not having their medication.

EDIT: Now the OP's saying that he traded the meds with his mom? Wtf?

God this thread made me facepalm hard...

Thanks for this constructive input as it is very applicable to this thread. Also I don't ask questions on this site to be judged, I do it to take drugs safely. Who the hell are you guys associating with that your prescription drugs are being stolen ? I don't know anyone in my life who would do that and I know a lot of people.

They're completely right. apples to oranges. even though codeine is considered weak on the opiate scale, use of 1000mg would result in the same amount of withdrawals as other more potent opioids used regularly at medium sized doses.
Your best bet is to use the meds as prescribed (if they are from a doctor). Even if you aren't getting high off the stuff, you can stabilize withdrawal and keep it at bay with your doses. That way, when its time to get off the meds, the doctor can properly work you down with a taper.

This is coming from a guy who has a handful of years of opiate addiction experience. It's ridiculous of me to suggest control, since addiction denies us that power. But if you can tide yourself over with your prescribed dose, you won't fiend or crave it as much; then, overtime your doc can ween you off the meds, and your problem with be solved. by doing this now you will be able to work towards a better future.

hope this helps and didn't come off as too preachy!

The OP is not being legally presrcibed the Oxy from a doctor for pain, he got them from a family member who had a prescription and is using them to try to get high and because he is already addicted/dependent to codeine. His main question was how much can he do to get high without overdosing:
I wanna know how much it's safe to take to feel the best effects without over doing it as I've yet to really "feel it".

But I think your advice does still somewhat apply: if it were me I would try to use as little as possible, just enough to relieve the withdrawal symptoms, and gradually taper the dose down, especially if the OP's goal is to get off of opioids eventually. Although I am wondering if he is only planning to stop taking it when the bottle runs out?

Yeah, thanks have gone a bit crazy the past few days with the doses - took 100 mg yesterday. But today I'm sticking to 10mg in the morning and 10 at night and will gradually decrease that.
