I want this thread to have two purposes:

(1) Describing flirtatious interactions with elements of the general public and how/why they may have stimulated an otherwise dull, boring day.

(2) Giving people ideas on things to do in public to facilitate relations with strangers, from the innocent smile to what might end in a marriage, two kids and a mortgage. What is well-received, what is too cheesy, original ideas, etc.

Rubbing genitalia in a seedy nightclub technically counts, sure, but I'm more interested in the stuff that happens in the morning hours, the central business districts, the line at the coffeeshop, etc.

-------------

I go to the same coffeeshop almost everyday (that I work) to buy a black eye (two shots of espresso into a coffee [I have a problem, don't judge me]). I often exchange smiles with one of the female cashiers, and she often gets on my case about never going online to activate my store card. Anyway, I always end up paying for two espresso shots plus the price of a coffee, which can get expensive when you're trying to save up to take a barista out to a high-end Italian restaurant (or something). A few days ago, I went into the place at night seeking only two shots of espresso, and as I ordered it "to go," I was given it in a small coffee cup. Interesting.

So the next morning, I went in and Attractive Cashier was working. Before I could even open my mouth, she said "black eye?" and I said "two shots only." Now this place is set up so that customers pour their own drip coffee, so as soon as she handed me the two in the small cup, I smiled at her and locked eyes, and I did everything I could to hold the eye contact as I walked over to the drip coffee station and filled the cup to the brim with the dark roast. I could tell that the whole thing was making her antsy (she did that thing girls do where she started doing standing calf raises and squeezing her hands together to calm her nerves), and it didn't help that the manager was standing right next to her the entire time. Anyway, after done making the coffee I smiled at her and told her to have a good day. She did have an unusually-large grin going on, as well as a twinkle in her eye. I think I pulled it off pretty well.

I've been a baaad baaad girl and I'm flirting at work. It's fun, and nerdy men are funny with it. It's good to be back in the game and it's good to be female in IT. Men are funny. :D

oh lord, yeah. flirting at work is at an absolute absurd level in the service industry. I am a naturally flirty guy, so the fact that I'm in a wonderful LTR makes me bottle up all my flirt mojo - at least more than the others around me :)

but damn do I love flirting! it makes something as dull as work (or in the OP's case, in line for a cup of Joe) that much more interesting

flirting happens everywhere. annoyingly for me at work i only seem to get flirts from the women in my current job as i am gay. it adds a huge element of damage free flirting because women think its so safe, and this can be used to generate good working relationships and a general power of popularity. as for getting any? nahh get out of it....

lol It's actually a very good way of dealing with the opposite sex provided that they don't get offended, but this is IT here. Buncha pent up nerds. LOL Plus, there are so many things to learn in IT, I use it as a way to sit with someone and learn about something new and pick their brain. I mean, lets be serious. A nerd who gets a chance to talk about his latest coding victory to a girl with big boobs flirting with him. I'd have to say it's been my best learning device. God bless the vagina. It's great to be female. I'm not a jerk about it. I do love my IT nerd coworkers. Best industry to work IMO.

There was a ridiculously pretty cashier at the farm stand i go to buy my veggies (usually lots of avocados). She said she envied my diet and that she always means to eat less crap and more veggies, blah blah blah. I was flattered that she started talking to me, so we talked nutrition for a little bit until someone was behind me with groceries. I think she was flirting too. Too bad I'm away for the summer, so logistically I have no chances with her. But it was a thrill, especially since I've been living alone. It gave me a boost of energy and happiness for the rest of the day though. God she was so pretty.

Hmm for me NA is a great flirting ground for me along with college (can't "do" coworders anymore due to a nasty stalker girl). NA and school are great for me because the things we have in common are blatantly obvious (Wow you're in NA and you did drugs? ME TOO! /sarcasm). Usually I just strike up conversation, ask how they're doing, how they're day has been, throw in some compliments, tease them when they blush, then concede something embarrassing about myself, maybe give out my number, and await the texting/sexting/dates/RL sex that usually ensues. Ugh reading that makes it seem so robotic and like a formula I use to get with women...

I have been volunteering at the NEP here and I was in yesterday talking about some very technical aspects of harm reduction and when I was done, one of the (very cute) volunteers came up to me and said "You must have just moved here or else I think I would recognize you." And just totally eye-fucked me. It is a really good feeling when something like that happens. I told her I really looked forward to getting to know her... and all the other volunteers and clients. Hehe.

She sent me a text message a few hours later inviting me to a Narcan class. Now THAT is sexy.

Admittedly I'm in a relationship but I don't find anything wrong with flirting. It's a fun way to blow steam off at work or make what would be boring experiences fun. The cutest little hippie chick came in to the farmer's market I work at wearing an Alex Gray T-shirt. So Awesome! I started up a conversation about Alex Gray and some local bands that we shared an interest in and talked for a bit. We definitely clicked but I'm happy with the relationship I'm in. I got her name and we said bye and I caught her peaking my way with a smile as she walked out.

Had what I'd consider a nice flirt at a further education course I attend this weekend. Most of the participants are a lot older than me, except of one girl. While one of the participants held another one of his 10-minute-monologues (he's quite notorious for talking way too much, way too long and considers himself super-smart, but is essentially a douchebag) and I couldn't take it anymore, I glanced over to her by chance and exactly in the same second she also glanced over to me, and we both were grinning from ear to ear and had a hard time avoiding to die laughing. We shared some looks over the rest of the time too, always smiling and smirking... I really have to talk to her tomorrow and see where it gets :)

UPDATE: She has a bf... but it was a nice flirt anyway.

I don't flirt with strangers, only coworkers lol. But only if I'm sure they're not prudes :D

in person: in line at subway... The woman ahead of me had a really cool tat... I asked her about it, what it meant etc. etc... She was checking me out as she left...

Online: i posted, she posted i posted....and so on...

Yes. ;)

I like these two a lot. Forget the "frozen foods aisle," the organic grocers are the best food-oriented places for this type of thing. So many good people who aren't too uptight to engage with a total stranger.

Well turns out the last big serious flirting I did in NA, the girl ended up living with me for a bit since we were long time friends, had the most mind blowing sex (made love too =D) and now we're dating. Hooray for NA lol

Well, I let this 40 year old guy blow me the other day because he was so in to me and desperate seeming I could tell he would do a good job, I don't know his name.

Well, I work in a salad bar and a lot of women/girls come through. My bosses INSIST that I ask each customer "would you like me to twist your salad?", and almost every customer goes "huh?", causes they don't know what twisting a salad means. so I am then forced to say "would you like me to toss your salad?". LOL. It gets to a point where I'm quite blatant with it. Some girl the other day was like "that sounds so wrong lol, but I'd let you toss my salad."
