Mushroom Season 2012

Status
Not open for further replies.
The best season for Psilocybes in a decade, here in Melbourne. The Muscaria season has just kicked in, too, over the past week and a bit. All species are now officially everywhere. I've eaten about two ounces of 2012 shrooms, dried, in the past three weeks. Preparing six medium Amanita caps for consumption right now. I'm thinking of experimenting with muscimol and DMT and/or muscimol and DXM.

Also very interested in learning more about: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Panaeolus_cyanescens. They are apparently the most widespread psychedelic fungi in Australia, covering practically the entire continent - yet I've never encountered them or heard of anyone else eating them. What's up with that? There's all these people looking for subs and nobody is looking for pan cyans. You inexperienced hunters, down on your luck this season, might be walking past pans without even thinking of checking them out. In fact, you almost definitely are.

Pan Cyans grow abundantly in all states/islands of Australia and New Zealand. They are, from what I can gather, the second most common psychedelic mushroom found in Australia - behind P Subs. If anybody has any experience hunting for these mushrooms, I'd be very interested to hear about it. Apparently they are also more potent than p subs/p cyans, making them - I think - the most potent psychedelic mushroom in Australasia? It doesn't make sense that we aren't looking for them.

Yeah I'm pretty sure I stumbled past an enormous patch of these last time I went for a pick, with a whole bunch growing nearby.

I think its about time I go and get out my hunting boots and give it a nice polish. :D

Will def go for a treck in the hills either today or tomorrow :)

after this fantastic rain we had all week last week, the magical fungiii's should be blooomin' like crazy ;D :D :D

Hi ladies and gents, long-time lurker first-time poster here...

Curious to hear if anyone has had any luck with the pan cyans in Melb/Vic of late? I too am curious about why we hear so little about them, besides the obvious reason of there being less of them than subs.

I'm sure I've spotted them around the traps but never looked twice... will be paying more attention in future.

It's much more likely you came across Mycena sp.
Melbourne is supposed to be overflowing with subs. I don't know what'd spark your curiosity given the abundance of subs..

Hey I want to start looking for these Mushrooms but its my first time so I dont really know where to start.
Should I just be looking for the ones in the pictures in the first post of this thread?
And any good suggestions on where?

Hey mate, also a first time hunter this season. The first post is handy to get to know what mushies you're looking for in your area, but then head over to shroomery.org and specifically their Hunting and Identification board. There are a LOT of Australian threads (and posters) that are more than willing to help out. There's a thread there dedicated to habitats and it contains MANY pictures of the sorts of habitats and places you'd need to keep an eye out for. Just read and read and read and when you can't find the info you're after, ask away, and you'll do fine. Good luck! :)

Dont place them on A4 paper! The spores will get stuck to the paper and when u scrape them itll fall in with it. Use foil or glass. Putting the whole spore print into teh ground is a silly idea. If it does actually does start producing mycelium it will have genetic deficiency because of the spore variations in it! So no it wont work, there are other better ways you can go about it.

How is burying a spore print any different to the mushroom dropping its spores? All the spores would fall pretty close to the parent.

The more individual spores there are that form mycelium on a medium the more chances it will have genetic issues. It will have a higher chance of having contamination as well. When mushroom spores fall they dont fall all in one place at all. The spores are microscopic and fly all over the place. If you have ever wondered how on earth do spores end up on top of the mushrooms itself is because the wind or some other contributing factor may carry the spores a very long way. You only need 2 individual spores out of the millions/billions found in a print to produce a single mushroom. Most advanced mycologists use a technique called sectoring where they hunt out the most strongest single spores / mycelium to obtain the perfect mushrooms from them at a later stage. Like I mentioned before its not wise to burry the spore print mainly because of those 2 issues.

Wind Dispersal

Some species of mushrooms drop their spores and rely on the wind to disperse them. Other mushrooms can propel their spores into the air at distances of over 2 meters. Some species of mushrooms are able to release 2.7 billion spores each day.

^ yeah, plus airborne spores have far better potential for spreading over a large area.
they're not the same as seeds, which i believe are generally better to bury.
a single spore print could indeed spread fungal growth across a large area in the right conditions, and the chances of doing this are increased by setting the spores free to float through the air, as opposed to trapping them underground!

Found about 60 Subs in Auckland just outside a massive courthouse haha. It was sketch as because there's always at least 3 policeman in the courthouse. But I totally dived in that garden and filled my pockets like it was free money!

I love shrooms ... you know what your getting is unadulterated and they grow out of the ground ... Fucking free drugs that pop out of the ground ;)

Well they do opposite things Singularity, but some people love mixing dissociatives with psychedelics. It's not a dangerous combo, so knock yourself out.
I didn't say they weren't spacejunk, it adds some welcomed zest ;)

^i wouldn't say psychedelics and dissociatives do opposite things.
different things - absolutely, but there is some crossover i think.
i haven't done mushrooms + ketamine, only LSD + MXE, and i went pretty deep.
start with a low dose of K, i reckon, because there's a lot of potential for heaviness with shrooms and a dissociative, i reckon. but shit, if you get the dosage and proportion right, it could be glorious i reckon.
just don't dive in head first until you know what you're dealing with. pretty powerful combination to work with :)

Just yesterday someone I was reading about someone who smoked DMT in a brief period he was out of the k-hole.
Although I'm all for HR, I've found people to overstate the power of some drugs and drill in 'test the waters' and 'don't dive in head first/the deep end' which is good for some people, but I personally prefer to dive in.

Or even more fun: /dis/ + /psy/

If you haven't smoked DMT while tripping on a high dose of ketamine...say, when you pop out of the K-Hole or something...you really ought to try it. I did it like, a month ago...can't even put the intensity into words. Out-of-body experiences, entities, feelings of rapid motion and suspension in mid-air, extremely complex visuals, moments of ego-loss. Lasted no more than like, 5 minutes, but God.

I have to say, though...get a good enough hit of a strong enough salvia extract, and salvia alone can take you just about as far. Salvia doesn't get talked about much but Jesus fucking Christ, it's powerful as shit.

This is what was said

i know what you mean, but i think it is good HR practice to advise people to respect this kinda thing.
not meaning to sound preachy or anything, but you can always start low and redose if it's not to your liking, or come back to it.
i guess i've learned this the hard way once or twice - a rough time on psychedelics is a seriously challenging experience.

terrifying, hellish - not always what you're looking for when you decide to push the envelope, or when you misjudge your dose.
it's pretty easy to do man, and it can be fucking horrible. honestly, it's something i encourage people to avoid - anything else is dicksizing IMO.
by that i mean 'too much' as opposed to 'a lot' - there is a difference and it's worth making sure you're on the right side of that line.
especially if we're talking psilocybe mushrooms combined with ketamine.
i've seen people really flip out, and it's tough going for all concerned. mushrooms deserve respect!

When does the season end roughly? ... I don't want it to end! .. Also how long for a patch to regenerate?
