who's been sentence or arrested for a drug offence?

2 days prior I was in hospital for a suicide attempt, huge amount of downers and a BAC of 0.17. Cop wrote on admission paperwork I can leave 48 hours later, but I was pulling saline drips out all night and walked out the next morning, I have no memory of the morning 2 days later either.

Slightly off topic, but related to the question.

Is there a list of Australian law firms with experience/success in defending drug users somewhere? Would this be beneficial for Bluelight, or is having adequate legal representation if the shit hits the fan not really harm reduction?
 
I'd say it's absolutely harm reduction, as much as using clean needles or pill testing kits.
 
If someone pulled a knife on me, stole my car and proceeded to smash it, I would want to fuck up their shit too.

Kudos for driving after being pepper sprayed though.
 
It's not nice stuff I would advise everyone against ever coming into contact with OC spray.

Gaol was "alright" when I had a good cellmate, he was a 5x murderer, heroin addict with Hep C from a dirty shared needle in a nsw gaol, but not a bad guy.... If you are big enough you can survive, if not... Well there was this one skinny kid everyone called panda, I'll let you all figure that one out.
 
If I go to jail, am I likely to get raped? I'm a good looking skinny guy.. I think I could handle getting bruises and shit.

I just remember the officer trying to scare me that I would get raped and that I was lucky to not be going to jail.
 
Unlikely, Probably just beaten the fuck up, just keep to yourself. Don't end up in jail is my advice.

No one ever touched me, you just have to assert yourself, my cellmate called me bitch one time in front of another bloke.... I told him I'd beat the fucking shit out of him if anyone in the unit called me that word again. (But I'm 6ft3 and was 140kg).

Put heaps of time into working out, pushups, step ups, pacing/walking. I lost 15kg in 3 weeks. The food is shit but not THAT bad, I had 1 steak in there that I could (and had to) cut with a plastic fork.

I did see people making shanks and slashing weapons though, I had only a couple of people who didn't like me... in a unit of 50+, easy enough to just keep to yourself if you want to.

But yeah people will sharpen up their toothbrush end, or burn all the bristles off, use a bic lighter safety as a flat bladed screwdriver to remove the blade from a pencil sharpener and melt that into the toothbrush end.... Have seen it personally.

Saw nurses letting people cheek their bupe (XXX$ a pop in there, they're fucked when the strips come in! haha), people smuggling in half ounces of meth in their arse at visiting time (some of them drove me crazy at night banging on the doors/traps), I was also assessed by a nurse who was clearly stealing 'done off the trolley (pinpoint pupils, scratching her nose, looked smashed as fuck). The guards think they are top shit but they really aren't.

I watched/heard people at night use their comb and line to pass drugs between cells. Talking through the toilets (they'd push the water up through the S bend and you can talk between floors that way).

The "suicide proof" cells aren't that suicide proof when the pinup board has silicone around it, I watched my cellmate remove this, plat it and end up with a strong as length of rope.... Which I promptly made him flush down the toilet.

Protip: Don't fuck up and end up in jail. Stripping, squatting and coughing is no fun. Although there was times where the guards do a half arsed job... Usually around the time I had visits at the same time as the meth smuggler did, funny that? Paid off? I think so.

I'd probably do the 'no emotion' mode and keep to myself, probably get some muscle tone and do some reading.
Really gave me a new perspective, there's some really fucking smart criminals. Then again.. there's some dumbass ones too.
 
Yeah, visitation was always hard because half the guys have little kids, sometimes they cling and won't let go. I'm not emotionless so it hurts.

I sat at the table and talked with a meth cook, bank robber, large scale marijuana grower. Seems the older they are the smarter they get, you can learn anything you like in the prison system but it's only going to help you become a criminal. If your not that type then keep to yourself, you'll inevitably make a few 'friends' as you have to eat/sit with someone though.

Worst thing you can do is end up in protection either, unwritten code - keep your mouth shut on all matters. I would not go witness to anyone even if they murdered my mother nowadays, because people know who I am.

Also if you're just getting done for drug offenses it's likely you'll spend 1-3 days in your own single cell at the police station and just get bail from there or bail straight from court. Unless you're silly and holding kilos of coke or something. I can't see them sending first time offenders (apart from me, heh) to jail straight up.

PS: Sorry drug_mentor, I know the prices rule but it did not occur to me when I wrote my post! I was just amazed at what some people will pay for a high in there.

As a plus from this whole experience, hopefully I can deter people from ending up in jail by any means. And I'm also clean from meth for 4 months or more now.

I hope one day you get some bad luck and have to endure what people you constantly put down have to deal with. Your holier than thou attitude and complete arrogance would turn me to become a schadenfreude of one.

For your sake, I hope one day you end up learning just what it's like to be on the other side so you stop talking down to people. I understand this is the internet and I don't reckon you'd be such a cunt in real life, but I find it sickening that you find pleasure in other peoples suffering. Especially when you consider what kind of forum we're on.

Why don't you go over to the dark side and coax some people into killing themselves? That ought to cheer you up.
 
i'm not getting into that debate, but i wonted to say thanks to Stato for being so honest and letting some of us know how it really is in there, the closest i've come to a jail is when i went inside one in QLD (wacol or someshit is it or was it i think?) was ages ago now and i visited a relative, the guards were really fucked and searched me too hard (well i thought so) and then wouldn't let us (me and my other cousin who i went with) leave for nearly 15 mins while they laughed at us. But inside in the visiting area was so depressing for me seeing my other cousin with grazes/cut marks and bruises on him and around all these people i was pretty scared of.

Thanks Mate, I'll answer any questions within reason of course... Bare in mind I only spent 3-4 weeks there, but you see a lot in that time. Plus my cellmate had spent 10+ years behind bars, taught/told me a lot.

Brutal stuff like.... Go fill a mop bucket up with boiling hot water, throw in a kilo of sugar and all the teabags & pour it over someone. The sugar makes the teabags stick & burn, and the guy ends up with bruise like marks all over his body. Shit like this does happen.

The doors are easily 150+kg 2 inch steel, people who steal get their fingers slammed in them.

You have 10k posts on a harm reduction forum, great right... So you just got all of your knowledge from not ever taking anything non prescribed, and then only in doses prescribed by the doctor. Sure thing I bet.

Fuck this bias, The media get everything wrong... There was one article stating I was driving a stolen nissan coupe... I own a fucking nissan coupe. Unfortunately that bias and misinformation seems to cloud some peoples minds.

Walk your way over to the American forums and start calling them criminals. Plenty of people gone to jail over there for possession and ended up with 1+ years.
