So...I got asthma. Had it my whole life. Now...years ago a friend at the time was over my house, took my asthma pump and sucked on it like 50times in a row claiming it got her "high". Anything on this? It seems absurd to me but I figured I'd ask the scientist on here haha.

Re-opening thread per OP's request for other Bluelighter's experiences with this drug.

*Disclaimer*

We don't do encourage people to attempt to get high off Albuterol.

Moving to BDD.

For this reason covered in the OD guidelines.

"6) NO QUESTIONS ASKING IF A MEDICATION OR DRUG IS RECREATIONAL!
These questions can easily be answered with wikipedia, google or erowid. If you've exhausted these sources and STILL can't find an answer, please inquire in Basic Drug Discussion."

Well, you don't want to abuse asthma medications especially if you have asthma. The medication won't work when you need it to. It is very dangerous to take more than the recommended dose. Please dont try it. It has all kinds of side effects like rapid heart rate and anxiety.

This is false, the only thing you will experience is a lack of oxygen and maybe some bad tachycardia.

And from the *BDD* guidelines...

Where is the harm reduction value in discussing getting high on albuterol exactly?

I am not sure really.

I would have closed it, I was going to but as NT re-opened it i'm leaving the ball in his court.

Edit: Lol cane... fail trip

Good Lord, what next?!
I also have had asthma for over 20 yrs now. I use a nebulizer & handheld inhaler.
I, unfortunately, tried this ONCE when I was, hmm, bout 15 lol. The rush lasted all of 10-15 seconds.. Then there was the "rush" of the ambulance bc I fell out into a full attack. Took 3 neb treatments, one after another, before the "elephant" got off my chest & I could breathe again.
The consequences of albuterol abuse can be extremely dangerous, potentially resulting in an irregular heartbeat, high blood pressure, and/or the potential for a heart attack or a stroke.
Overusing albuterol (for any use) can result in dangerous side effects. Albuterol can cause a very fast heart rate (tachycardia), high blood pressure ( hypertension ), and irregular heart rhythms (arrhythmias). These side effects can increase your risk of a heart attack, stroke, or other dangerous problems.
FFS, go buy some dxm if you're *that* hard up!
Abusin asthma meds.. Geesh!
(Like I said yes I tried it in my teens and yes I'm a fuckin idiot for doin it also)

CAN you get a high off of albuterol? Yeah. Is it pleasant? According to most experience reports, no. It's also dangerous, arrythmias are no joke.

Even if it was pleasant and the risk of a heart arrythmia wasn't there, abusing something you need for asthma isn't a good idea because one day you might NEED your inhaler. It's not like an ADHD person abusing his adderall, because ADHD can't randomly kill you.
