Does Ecstasy make you "dumb" after only one usage?

I'd really like to try ecstasy with my boyfriend. I've known many people who say ecstasy makes you stupid and my boyfriend does not want to try it because of that. My question is that even if it does, can it have long term affects after only one use? Thanks.

No... but long term, excessive use of high doses of MDMA does has the potential to damage serotonin axons in your brain (regulates things like sleep, mood, appetite, etc). This damage is usually not permanent, new serotonin axons tend to grow back in new places but long term future consequences of damaging those axons in the first place is unkown. Occasional, recreational use of MDMA will not make you dumb and you certainly wont have any long term effects after one time use. :)

People spread innumerable rumors about ecstasy, most of which are bullshit.. If you want to stay safe while using ecstasy, then take steps towards harm reduction; testing, research, etc... But Ecstasy, I mean real MDMA, will not make you stupid after one use.

Absolutely not. Just do yourself a favor and be safe. Make sure what you're getting is legit, get a test kit to verify (only $20 and well worth it to help protect you). Provided that you're safe, take something legitimate, and don't take way too much, you will be totally fine.

Typical media bullshit. A while ago in the UK there was a newspaper article indicating that just one ecstasy pill can cause parkinsons disease, which was based upon an extremely methodologically flawed piece of research by some dumb cunt in a lab.

All of the rumours surrounding holes in your brain or making you dumb from just one time are pretty bs. Get it tested, appropriately dosed and moderately used and I stand by it to be one of the safest recreational drugs you can use.

Follow harm reduction advice and most importantly space out usage of the drug. One time use will certainly not cause permanent damage. Many people that abuse the drug can recover, the length varies with how long and how frequently they abused it.

I wonder what the case would be, if someone who naturally has very low serotonin levels and/or damaged receptors from disease/trauma and they take mdma even once.
Would that turn their possibly dormant problems into a cascade of depression and anxiety?

Nobody should be taking MDMA or god knows what they put in E pills nowadays if they have any mental illness or disabilities and should be extra careful if they have a family history of it too

My IQ went up 4 points since I started doing E. Not from E, from getting older, but E didn't hurt.

it'll prob make you "Smarter". then again, what is "smart"? what constitutes intelligence?
if you learn shit and its positive and helps you in life than i feel like youve become smarter.

Don't abuse it.
I used it 2-3 times a month for like 5 months and I'm still as smart as ever. Still use once a month (approx).
Don't go too crazy on it - like don't keep redosing! Know when to stop! And don't use more than once a month. And TEST YOUR PILLS!!!!!

if anything it will make you happier as long as you dont overdo it. mdma can be extremely therapeutic

I feel ecstasy has hampered my intelligence to some degree.

I am not stupid, no, far from it. But I live in an almost constant state of "brain fuzz". My mind is not as clear as it once was... and lets not even get into how much worse it has made my manic depression.

Use it, don't abuse it.

Use it, don't abuse it.

You take loads of other drugs, its hard to infer brain fuzz causality when you're using all sorts of drugs relatively frequently.

While MDMA may have reduced your cognitive functioning theres no way you can say for sure.

'Use it don't abuse' it is a good motto.
