I think you really tell how much this guy influenced people like the Butthole Surfers in tracks like this they later went on to help the guy out in quite a few ways.

I think he's rejoined the human race now though:-

I'm a big fan of the 13th Floor Elevators despite their limited output, Roky ended up getting locked up for 3 years for having a joint on him, they put him in with a load of psycho murders and such and gave him a shed load of ECT and by all accounts he wasn't in a great place as it was. The band had a tight routine of acid, DMT and Mescaline and were almost constantly tripping off their boxes which took its toll.

There is a film / documentary showing Roky's slow recovery over many years, but he seems to be pretty well these days, the early albums like this one are works of a very disturbed mind, hence you liking it ;)

^ 13th Floor Elevators are one of those bands I hear of frequently but have never really listened too. Will amend that fact.

I have too many fave New Order songs to mention, but that one is right up there. Always been especially fond of their simple, straight from the heart kinda stuff. Special kinda magic they have <3

Another fave from their more "haunting" (as you so rightly put it) catalogue, gothy post-JD subsection...

New Order - Truth (Western Works Studio Version)

Is a new version on me and may even like it more than the album version. Cheaper/rougher round the edges production-wise - more gloomy, less oppressive stylee. Tis a good 'un :)

Still on me New Orderish kick. Side projects at the moment. Monaco was the one I never remember listening to (and likely didn't) and - as it turns out - that may've been for the best :\

Ah well. Sake of completion and all that. And there are a coupla decent ones... albeit spread over two or three albums of pretty winceworthy stuff inbetween 8)

One of the goodies. Mainly cos it sounds more like Electronic though :D
