Lol. This.
I think the OP got his answer. More than likely...no...he's not getting dialudid unless he's getting all four removed in a hospital.

who made him the club leader...
This is basically what happened to me too. I called like 8 hours after the surgery, that shit was brutal pain. I had all 4 removed, each impacted at horrible angles.
Are you an oral surgeon? I'm just wondering where you're getting this idea since it contradicts my experience and those of everyone I know who underwent the same surgery, and it's really not an established statistic is it?
From my non-professional standpoint, I would say the chances of a oral surgeon performing multiple impacted wisdom tooth extraction prescribing Tylenol #3 is "slim to nil".
Did you guys not have an appointment prior to the surgery, where you discussed everything about the surgery? Including the post-op pain management? I would have thought it was mandatory.... no way would I have gone with a surgeon who offered me codeine, the chances are definitely closer to nil than slim.
I think you'll find more people are prescribed opioids stronger than the codone family, especially Chronic Pain Patients. At my consult I showed the surgeon who was a really nice guy, not one to overprescribe when not needed by any means but compassionate enough right off the bat when I said I'm a chronic pain patient who's dependent on opioid medication and that I was worried about my pre and post-op sedation and analgesia, being tolerant to benzodiazepines when they were planning on using a cocktail containing midazolam was no help. I offered for him to call my PM doc to work something out but he said he's dealt with it before and consults friends in anesthesiology.
I will agree with the consensus that compassionate care is very difficult to find especially with our flawed system allowing so many abusers access to high-potency opioids so doctors are forced by the DEA to underprescribe or risk their license and DEA#. Florida, 'nuff said. I've had doctors tell me this. As far as what they prescribe for what surgeries I don't know for sure, I'm not qualified to assess that but from what I've seen in friends who were not opioid tolerant but also received compassionate care, always at least oxycodone. Heh, an old friend of mine even got roxi 15s, because the surgeon was so anti-APAP and was encouraging he use something else like concurrent high dose naproxen. Compassionate care is out there, lurking where you least expect it. Anyways, food for thought.
I know plenty of people with chronic pain disorders that are prescribed morphine, hydromorphone, fentanyl or the like. I was just referring to post-op pain relief in wisdom teeth extractions. Well compassionate care is lacking among doctors in the Detroit area, if you ask me. The heroin epidemic in the city has stunned the doctors, so there's a lot of fear for their medical licenses or DEA#'s. Detroit is just awash with heroin and prescription opioids like morphine, methadone, hydromorphone, hydrocodone and oxycodone. Benzos are everywhere. Crack is the other problem drug in Detroit - there's a severe crack addiction rate in the city.
This is so silly, but are you really asking me if I'm an oral surgeon? It doesn't take much brainpower to look around you and see that everyone I've ever known getting their wisdom teeth taken out have gotten Percocet at the most. I've never known a single person who told me that they got Dilaudid or Demerol or any other potent opioid (morphine, fentanyl) for having even all four of their wisdom teeth taken out. I almost always here either Tylenol #3 (for easy extractions), Vicodin 7.5 mg, Norco 10 mg, or Percocet. I've never heard anything beyond that. Plus, if you take into account Dilaudid and Demerol's oral BA, you'd probably get better pain relief from hydrocodone or oxycodone formulations.
Who said that an oral surgeon would script Tylenol #3 for "multiple impacted wisdom tooth extraction"? You're making up stuff that I didn't even say. I merely mentioned that Tylenol #3 is commonly prescribed for wisdom teeth extractions. Now anyone with more sense would've assumed that I was talking about easy extractions or a single tooth extraction, not a "multiple impacted wisdom teeth extraction". 8)
In regards to my experience with wisdom teeth extraction, yes, we had a consultation before the surgery and we just discussed the anesthesia, how long I will be at the office after I'm done, and I was told to have someone to come pick me up. I walked, I was put out, I woke up and 3 of my wisdom teeth were gone. I was there for a few hours before I was picked up by a family member with a script for 40 300 mg clindamycin and 25 Vicoprofens with 1 refill.
To be honest, I am often suspicious of anyone claiming to have gotten narcotics like morphine, hydromorphone, fentanyl, methadone, or pethidine/meperidine for wisdom teeth extractions. I'm not saying that it never ever happens, but it is very suspicious. I've always heard either codeine, hydrocodone, or oxycodone. Oral surgeons almost always start with one of these and if the pain is not properly controlled then the surgeon may increase the dose or may prescribe something else. Hydrocodone and oxycodone are no "weak" drugs either, they provide some serious pain relief and most doctors are comfortable with them. They are the two most commonly prescribed narcotics in the United States by far.
BTW Ergic, that gif is fucking awesome. I'm at work and can't look at it anymore, lest I get discovered with a shit eating grin on my face.
Can we close this thread already? Answered a million times.

Apparently, EM is a suck-up to the mods...
who knew?
tokenname said:80mg still is posting in a thread he thinks should be closed...
weird..

Someone had to bring the noms, Token! But you can take the club leadership back, I'm not really planning on being a long term member.
I might be friendly, but mod or not, I'll call someone out on their bullshit on these boards. I have no desire to become a mod or anything, so I really don't care ho.w I'm perceived by the mod team
LOL, 80 milligrams of failcodone![]()
don't even say that!! Now we're going to get bombarded with threads asking what failcodone is, what its effects are, where to get it, etc. Of course there will be a "i just took x amount of failcodone, will i be ok?" thread. Also, the op may start asking if he's going to get failcodone for his wisdom teeth extraction.
