Bible Passage Discussion

I had a quick look through it, couldn't find anything about the kid fucking, so where the priests got that idea from is still a mystery.

Perhaps because it isn't in there?

Perhaps the people who committed these acts weren't following the word of God?

The catholic church enforces celebacy on its priests, not the Bible. Christian preachers are allowed to fuck their wives, so they dont take their sexual frustrations out on kids.

I wasn't talking about celibacy, merely saying that I have not heard anything allowing Christians to fuck kids... If a Christian preacher fucks a kid, that's his fault, his ignorance, it has nothing to do with the teachings of the Bible. Would you say that a non-religious person who committed a sexual act on a child was an act of atheism?

The Greek Orthodox practice of appointing only celibate priests as bishops dates to the 5th century, when the church decided to halt the loss of extensive land holdings to heirs of married bishops, Stephanopolous said. Thereafter, bishops were chosen from the ranks of monastics, who have always taken vows of chastity.

There are precedents for married priests in the Catholic Church. Many Eastern Rite Catholic priests, those who head Orthodox-style churches under the authority of Rome, are married. And several dozen married Episcopal priests have switched to Roman Catholicism since 1980, when Pope John Paul II approved a provision allowing them to serve as Catholic priests.

Celibacy is 'sex magic', the power it bears far underestimated.

lmao

Dont get me started on the Catholics, hold me back...

^ ... not necessarily life long abstinence. but the practice of restraint in general.

now if someone is riled up and expecting it to happen, that is a different story compared to a practiced measured abstinence.

I have a serious question for people who claim Christianity; it took god 6 days to create the earth, how long did it take him to create the rest of the solar system?

It says "heaven and earth", which seems to refer to the universe. It also says "And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night", which seems to refer to the sun and moon.

The New Testament is more attested to than any other ancient text. If you throw out the New Testament then you have to throw out every other ancient text aswell. Otherwise your just being bias. Perhaps Jesus makes your heart feel uncomfortable.

What is the point of debating mis-translated Bible passages? It would not even make sense debating Latin passages. Hebrew, Western Aramaic, and Koine Greek were the original languages. Not only is it impossible to translate verbatim, glaring errors were made that completely changed the overall context; for example: Mis-translating "young woman of marriageable age" as "virgin" in Isiah, a mistake made when translating tge original Hebrew into Koine Greek. The net result is something entirely different from the actual Scripture. Still, if I were to apprpach this as a partygame, it would be Luke where Jesus called the Canaanite woman a mangy bitch for assuming G-D's grace applied to non-Jews as well as Jews. "My message is for the lost sheep of Israel."
