I was in a ( Cambs ) public library earlier with an acquaintance interested to see the online 'drug sites.' I logged in on one of the library computers and showed her the Junky Underground and Alliance sites without problem. But when it was BL's turn, my access was denied.

An explanatory notice explained it was 'policy' ( oh, that word! ) to deny access to sites that promoted gambling, sex or 'race-hatred.' I wonder into what category BL is deemed to fit.

Does this happen in libraries in other counties or is it a local anomaly? Most queer, can anyone explain?

All 3?

BL is generally blocked by blocking software, because it's big enough to have got caught by their drag net. It's banned by a lot of work places too.

MSB must be having more luck with the BL gals than the rest of us.

Perhaps a BL senior executive should write to whoever makes these decisions and demand an explanation. When you think of the number of dopefiends who haven't a computer or are obliged to leave it in the hockshop, a fair percentage of your potential readers are unable to access the site unless they pay an internet cayf for the privilege.

If you search around EADD for one of Jancrow's posts yesterday, I'm sure he mentioned that despite the free wifi access he was taking advantage of at a MOTO motoway filling station, he couldn't access BL there and that he assumed it was blacklisted/filtered there too

seems lunacy to me, given that it's not a free for all site and the backbone of it is information based on harm reduction

^I know I'm in the Americas but when I was in high school, sites like Bluelight, Erowid, etc were blocked...

...but at the same time RC vendors were not.

I imagine the filtering software isn't very dynamic, but just works with a blacklist. That blacklist probably came from somebody's Google search long ago...

I believe it's just basic web nanny software and you can ask the library to de-blacklist sites yourself. There is no universal authority on it charlie.

Will my internet use be restricted in any way?
Terms and conditions of internet use are displayed on screen and our network is subject to filtering.

Specialist software, continually revised and updated, is in place to record attempted access to and to bar viewing of sites deemed to be inappropriate, offensive or illegal, including chat rooms.

In the event that a site you wish to view has been blocked mistakenly please approach a member of staff. The member of staff will not be able to unblock the site immediately but they will be able to request changes to our filtering software on your behalf.

Request the block to be lifted if you think that bluelight does not break any of the TOS

"inappropriate, offensive or illegal" ha, BL probably breaks all 3 :|

All blocking software hates BL with a burning passion, just on principle. BL is the anathema of mainstream society.

And thank you for that picture of Gemma Atkinson.

^^ can we have a Vikki Blows to compliment the Gemma? Hope so ...

Ah, that's where the hesitation comes in. You could ask the librarian to unblock your favourite drug site if you don't mind the fish eye for the foreseeable future and, if you live in a small town, taking the chance the librarian won't bump into your straightest relatives in Marks and Sparks and fill them in on your request. Better someone with no pretensions to a superficial respectability who doesn't care about their public image.

At last, MSB, you come in useful. Let us know how you get on.

Very true. I can imagine the heroin thread, for example, reflecting only a tiny percentage of the people who might benefit from reading / participating in the discussion.

All the more wrong-headed when you consider that most libraries these days double as community centres of sorts; places of temporary respite for those society chooses to marginalise - people with mental health problems, street drinkers and (seeing as my local library toilets double as the local shooting gallery of choice) drug addicts.

EDIT:

Good lord. I'm off to flay myself with a sapling in order to purge myself of this sudden vile surge of carnal lust.

Jesus... :o

Her job seems to be being hot in front of a camera.

And yeah. You're better off not using BL, or any drug site that has you sign in at a a public terminal. Better off just waiting until you can go somewhere private.

In a tight punk t-shirt. Which ups the ante somewhat.

If that were a Black Flag or Killing Joke top... I dread to think what I'd be doing now.

Ahem. Oh yeah - topic. Sorry.

She looks better without the top...

It adds a certain something, even if I very much doubt she owns a single Charged GBH record.

She's vaguely reminiscent of the (impossibly attractive) singer in a local band in that pic, which also helps. I have a thing for big hair, like.

But yeah, she looks alright without it too. I can't comment on how the local pop star in question looks topless though. Sadly.

I am personally attracted to that vacant, "I need a dick in my mouth" stare.

That's just my personal fetish.

^^ kinda covers this, but not quite. she does the opposite, but better .. imo

she was on an ep of UK/London ink once (which I edited the clip from sometime in a past life :o) ... anyways .. even with no make-up on, and no posing, she was utterly fucking yum and engaging

eh .. I have gardening to do that's pressing (although not particularly engaging)

TTFN, and once again (& somewhat dis-ingenuously), apologies for the random chick pics, Charlie ;p

Hmmm, one begins to understand the reasons for the ban. Quite possibly, library monitors fear for children of impressionable age subjected to opinions such as those voiced above. A quick scan of this thread and they'd be forgiven for thinking the site a haunt of perverts, on drugs or otherwise.

Lovely knockers, but.

I like the direction this thread has gone in, will add
NSFW:
tags altho I always think if you're browsing BL at work a few tits are the least of your worries ;)

I couldn't get on BL on my phone (O2) til I proved I was over 18, and my work block it.

Is there a reason we don't have a "pictures of hot naked people" thread? :D

edit: that woman has (almost) the tats i am getting. less detail around the swallows, higher up, but yeah :)
