Im really curious if it is safe or not to IV the leftover resin from smoking heroin. I have a friend who left some of his toots (straws, empty pens) at my house. I water-whipped one yesterday (put hot water in straw and "whip it," smoke the waterish resin off foil) and I was very curious if the water-like substance was safe to IV. I feel like its a waste and way too messy to try and smoke a liquid off foil. Please let me know what you think.

I strongly advise against this. When you're smoking it, a lot of the product is being burned, so you're left with a lot of insoluble byproducts (imagine the ash and shit you get left over from a fire, except in smaller quantities), which are gonna do a number on your veins.

It's not "safe" to IV heroin at all, but if you meant is it no less safe than IVing heroin that was meant for injection and has not been smoked, then I would say no it isn't as safe. For one, it could easily be contaminated with bacteria or viruses, especially since the straws have been used by someone other than you. For 2, it's been sitting for a while i non-sterile conditions. For 3, it may be gunky or burnt and mostly comprised of the cut etc. And the tiny amount of heroin is probably not worth any of the risks. I would not do it at all.
If you are going to do it anyway you should heat it until it boils briefly and filter it with the best filter you can get your hands on, but that's still not going to make it safe.

Ok I really appreciate both of your replies. So what I'm getting from your posts is that its not safe, but let me ask this. Would IV'ing the water like resin be any less safe than IV'ing black tar that has been sitting in a bag for a few hours

Personally I would never want to inject something that someone else's mouth had touched. It's not even a good idea to share straws for smoking or snorting.

Good point, lol. I just meant it was even worse because we have no idea what serious bacteria or viruses someone else has, whether they're mouth is bleeding, etc.

Mouth does not even have to be bleeding, the mouth is a breeding ground for bacteria.

I know, I wasn't suggesting it did, just that someone else's straw or whatever could even have blood in/on it as well (which could contain lethal viruses). Even if there is no blood it's not safe. This is a problem with sharing straws for snorting as well. It's been in someone else's nose.

When i was addicted to heroin i had a friend who dealt and always used the same aluminum straw for weeks at a time, i used to buy his clogged up straws, sometimes i would get 3 or 5 grams of liquid that turned hard and one time i shot about a half gram of the shit, cooked it up with lemon just like i would do with heroin. Long story short i didnt even get high but nothing bad happened either, it just didnt do fuck all.
