Oh man, let me make this quick... I have Chrons disease and my Dr. prescribes me 8MG dilaudid every 6 hours if needed for pain, so I get 100 of these babies a month... Problem is I'm a dumbass and have finished my prescription a week to soon (must sleep walk and take them at night, lol) I been Iv'ng them and it's great but the high only last me 1 min or so (I have a real high tolorence unfortunatley) but I ran out and last night was a bitch I havn't slept a wink and right now i'm feeling ok I think but it seems to come in phases... I tried searching the forum for help but I have not seen anyone take this many... Any help or advice on how to ease the withdrawal...

Thanks for the help, peace...

Well a lot of people take that many, or even more, so you are not in unchartered territory. With IV drugs, particularly those that have short half-lives like hydromorphone, the withdrawals start pretty quickly after your last dose. It's very hard to limit your use of hydromorphone when you abuse it, particularly by IVing it, because all it does it give you a rush, but doesn't have much of a high, especially once tolerance sets in.

This thread has pretty much all the info on easing opioid withdrawals. For OTC meds immodium (loperamide) helps with your bowels as well as other things, and some antihistamines can help with sleep. As for prescription drugs, clonidine helps with the RLS, high blood pressure, and helps with sleep, promethazine is an antihistamine that is prescription IIRC, and that helps with sleep, and of course benzos help a lot, but you run the risk of dependence with them as well.

Thanks so much, I do have quite a bit of xanax, guess those might help but I don't want to abuse those as I try to use them for anxiety...

Really appreciate your help...

Does your high last 1 minute or the rush? When you IV an 8mg hydro, does it take your pain away for a while? Would it be a good idea to take something that is an ER when you IV the hydro or is that not using harm reduction.

To me the high is the same as that rush you feel that makes you feel like wow it's all good... I must say, that I've gone up to iv'ng 32Mg and the rush or high was the same... Maybe a bit more, though nothing much different than from just one 8Mg... Also you have to wait at least 6 to 8 hours to reuse it otherwise it won't do much of a difference on how it feels... As for taking the pain away, Yes it works much better than swallowing the pill... I hate needles but I ended up using iv as it works (get instant high/buzz) the it seems to help ease my pain faster and I think better than swallowing ( I don't reccommend anyone Iv,ing)

Not sure what you mean about ER unless that means extended release... I would reccomend just the actual Dilaudid (generic) as extended has things in it that I would say is harmful....

The ER is extended release.......I mean, after you IV, can you get your hands on Oxycodone ER or Opana ER & take one after you've iv'd so maybe the pain is managed a lot longer.

Also, how long after you've IV'd does the hydromorphone last in taking your pain away?

As for getting my hands on Oxycondone ER I did for about 15 pills... I didn't know how to do what you need to do to melt them or whatever (as taken them oraly did crap)

As for Iv hydromorphone well I like that quick nice feeling that lasted a minute or so, then it did help with the pain faster and I don't know if it lasted longer, though all I know is swallowing it did shit...

Hydromorphone wd's should be relatively short due to short half-life of the particular opioid, and the fact that IV can cause or seem to cause shorter duration of action as one becomes wrapped up in the rush. Nevertheless, it is a large opiate habit, and opiate wd's are not at all pleasant. You say you have Xanax, and are hesitant to use it for these wd's, but if it is for a few days, I would say use it. I don't know how much you take, or if you take it daily, but if you can I might increase the dose, and the time in between doses so that you are provided with a higher level of more consistent comfort. For sleep, I would take an even higher dose than during the day. But, there are other drugs out there to help you. Loperamide is great for opiate wd's, and can be bought, in the US, OTC under the brand name Imodium. It will help heaps with physical symptoms. Diphenhydramine (Benadryl) can also help, especially with sleep and nausea during wd's. NSAID's such as ibuprofen and naproxen are over the counter, and can help, to an extent, with the aches and pains. Clonidine (Catapres) can also really help, in almost every area of opiate wd's, especially with relief of anxiety/restlessness and insomnia, and can help heaps with the hot flashes and cold sweats. Also, take lots of hot baths or showers, though baths are preferable IMO. Even letting your feet dip in warm/hot water can be of great help with cold sweats and the like. Some people claim exercise can be very helpful, and it can due to the release of endorphins it causes. You will likely be more easily sexually aroused, and so masturbation and orgasm can help, even if just for a little, with some of the discomfort of wd's. Hope this helps some.
