Hi all,

I'm going through hell right now. Two months ago SWIM partied all weekend and took MDMA three days in a row.

To give you background SWIM has taken Ecstasy for about 8 years on and off, usually on weekends and at events.
Just before this incident SWIM decided he was probably going to stop taking it very often so swim is kicking himself now.
SWIMs worst experience before this was about 4-5 years ago when SWIM had ecstasy every day for a few days at a festival and had a mean come down for about 2 days.

Heres a quick break down of what happened to SWIM.

Prior to event, SWIM had quit smoking for a month after getting back from Thailand.

Friday the 2nd of March
SWIM Went on a house boat. Drank alcohol and smoked cigarettes (for the first time since quitting a month before) all afternoon and evening.
SWIM Consumed lines of ecstasy orally amounting to probably 1 whole tablet.
Tablets were of reasonable strength. Had a few NOS (laughing gas) bulbs. Ate dinner. Spent some time in the hot tub. Slept about 7-8 hours.

Saturday the 3rd of March, consumed alcohol and cigarettes all day, a few NOS bulbs.
SWIM had some lines of ecstasy orally from maybe lunch time onwards. Consuming perhaps another a whole tablet. Had a peak at some point in the afternoon. Had dinner at dark. Went to shore with more alcohol had a bonfire. Consumed 1 whole tablet orally around 10pm. Came back to the boat at some point and spent more time in the hot tub, drank and smoked cigarettes till 3am. Slept about 7 hours.

Sunday the 4th of March, woke up had some lines of ecstasy throughout the day probably amounting to another whole tablet, drank more alcohol and smoked cigarettes.
Stopped consumption of ecstasy by the afternoon. Spent an hour in the outboard at dusk and started to feel sick. Vomited back onboard and lay down for an hour or so. Woke up and felt better. SWIM Went up stairs and sat in the hot tub for a few hours and Drank and smoked all evening.
At some point around maybe 10pm SWIM felt a stiffness in my lip muscles which SWIM have never had before which made talking and pronouncing words a little difficult.
Slept about 7 hours.

Monday the 5th of March, woke up around 8am. Stiffness in lips was gone. Drank about a litre + of water over the next few hours. Felt tired and hungover but generally fine. Left mariner at 12pm, smoked half a cigarette but felt sick from it so threw it away.
Had sea legs and my vision was tilting back and forth. This happened last year SWIM was on a house boat. Drove the car for about 10 minutes but started to feel really hot and flush. Opened the window and turned on the aircon. Then got pins and needles in my arms and legs and they spread to my face.
SWIM started feeling shakey, so SWIM pulled over and asked a friend to drive. After about 5 minutes SWIM asked them to pull over and paced around on the side of the highway. SWIM was hyperventilating which made things worse.

Called ambulance. Ambulance had not arrived after about half an hour or my pacing and breathing fast. Hopped back into car and drove further up the highway. Pulled over again and called the ambulance a second time.
I had trouble moving my arms and fingers and they were numb, my face was numb / tingly and SWIM was scared.

Ambulance arrived around 1:30. They took me to hospital. After 40 minutes in the hospital corridor on a stretcher SWIM calmed down and movement returned to my arms. The pins and needles went away.
When the nurses tried to give me a canular SWIM had another panic attack. SWIM hate needles and the nurse missed the vein 3 times. This one subsided again after another 10 odd minutes.

Doctors said SWIM had a panic attack but that everything else checked out okay, blood, urine, ECG (they said SWIM had a breathing arrhythmia which is normal) and my neurological examination with muscle reactions etc was all fine. Said blood pressure was a little high and to check it out with GP. SWIM had had potentially high blood pressure the year before but it went away and could have been white coat hypertension.
I went home and had hot flushes and tingling that evening.
I had a valium to help sleep.

Went to work on Tuesday the 7th, felt pretty crap but can't remember anything specific.

Went to work on Wednesday the 8th, doctor arranged 24 hour ambulatory BP monitor and prescribed Prochlorperazine for sea sickness, SWIM had it the year before for the same purpose and it worked. Took 6 tablets over the next 3 days, 2 each day until sea sickness symptoms subsided.
At work that afternoon had a minor panic attack, used plastic bag to restrict oxygen and relaxed after about 10 minutes then slept for about 15 minutes.
Went home and stayed home for the next few days doing work from home. First day home after panic attack at work SWIM had another valium to help me get to sleep.

24 hour ambulatory BP resulted in normal blood pressure with two or three short spikes above the normal range.

General symptoms for the following next week.
Reduced appetite, didnt eat much during meals. Didnt feel able to drink lots of water. Hot flushes in my body particularly upper body and chest. SWIM used an ice pack directly on my skin which seemed to distract me from it so SWIM could work.
General brain fog and minor reduction in co-ordination, ability to think of correct words when talking and clarity of vision. Not really any problems getting to sleep but SWIM would often wake up between 6 - 7 am with INTENSE adrenaline feeling, eyes wide open and very fast breathing.
I would spend the next 15-20 minutes calming my breathing down until SWIM was no longer focussed on it.

There were other times during the day where SWIM would be “aware” of my breathing and it would feel restrictive and hard in my chest.

Friday the 9th of March, went to dinner had 2-3 drinks. Didnt feel comfortable being out so went home.

Sunday was particularly intense morning wake up adrenaline.

Week of work was relatively uneventful, just the same symptoms every day.

Friday 16th of March
Went to putt putt golf in the evening and had about 5 beers. Felt relatively okay.
Found out a person who was on the boat cruise had a virus and hopped in the hot tub with us. She did not know what type.

House mate who was on the boat cruise as well got a rash. After blood tests revealed he contracted Ross River fever. My self and Girlfriend were tested but showed up negative.

20th of March, went to a comedy show, drank about 5 burbon and cokes.
Came home and felt a bit weird and had trouble getting to sleep, heart was pounding.
Woke up and felt bad, shakey and had adrenalin feeling.
I had not yet been formally recording symptoms so its hard to say, but SWIM dont remember having the shakes before this time.

After this day, SWIM have not touched a single drop of alcohol.

Formal symptom diary began on the 26th of March.

Took Fibroplex which is a multivitamin, and Acetyl L Carnitine and another suppliment called Inkephalin twice daily for the next few weeks, with a period of stopping during Melbourne.

Monday 26th of March visited the gym and did weights but felt terrible that day.
Next day, SWIM just walked on the treadmill.

Symptoms that week included, headache, heat flushes, feeling dazed. Burning in chest and arms.

Thursday the 29th flew to Melbourne.
Had sore wrists and ankles, heaches, trembles, dry mouth till Saurday.
Saturday afternoon SWIM started to feel good.
Sunday, SWIM felt great, and felt good all day. Still not 100% though.
Monday felt pretty good, went to a hot spa all day.
Felt good on the plane coming home at night, had a light happy head rush while reading my magazine.

Tuesday the 3rd of April
Symptoms persist daily with ups and downs.
Some occasional days SWIM feel relatively good.

Easter weekend, 7th, 8th 9th etc SWIM had headaches and tremors and felt weak and slept lots.
Sleep was constantly interrupted.

Tuesday the 10th saw GP and he suggested SWIM may have a entro virus called Echo Virus.
This made me feel better psychologically and SWIM even experienced a rash that evening on my legs and sides of my chest and arms.
The next few days SWIM felt pretty good and simply ignored most symptoms not feeling the need to fill in my symptom diary much.
I still reported tremor feelings though. But mood was elevated and appetite slightly improved.

Test for entro virus came back negative and SWIM felt stressed again.

The following week, headaches subsided and only come back occasionally for small periods of time like a few minutes.

SWIM saw a psychiatrist who specialises in Drugs and Alcohol and they have seen this before and its all anxiety related, and SWIM should consider until proven otherwise that its anxiety including the tremor.
He gave SWIM some progressive muscle relaxation stuff and send SWIM on his way. That was several weeks ago. Depression and Tremor dont seem to have improved.

Doctor has referred SWIM to a psychologist to handle anxiety which has undoubtadly grown over this period.
This was only a week ago. Anxiety has reduced due to breathing exercises etc, but obviously the other symptoms are still there.

SWIMs current symptoms over 2 months after the incident would be described as:
- minor tremor, sometimes it gets worse, almost always there, even when SWIM wake up
- burning in chest and arms, especially in the morning
- still sometimes wake up around 7am with burning / anxiety or fast breathing
- always feel better at night but maybe thats because im in bed relaxing
- some days depression is intense, almost too much to handle, which is making me feel more desperate
- brain fog, just generally feeling not normal mentally, not sharp and unable to focus with clarity
- SWIM have had a few good days over the past 2 months but nothing amazing and too few and far between to attribute to feel like im recovering

Just to note, pills were from a reputable source and had the expected effect with everyone all weekend, taken by over 10 people.

Couple of questions:
1) Has anyone experienced anything like this before or know anyone who has?
2) What is happening to me?
3) What can SWIM do to fix it
4) Why didnt it happen to anyone else, at least 3 other people had as much as me and did all the same things
5) Why did this happen, was it it the hot tub, or the overload of too many neurotransmitters at once, e.g. mdma, cigarettes, alcohol for 3 days straight? or the straw that broke the camels back?
6) Why did SWIM get the stiffness in the lips in the hot tub?
7) Are anti depressants a good idea?
8) Is this whats happening to me and if so, does anyone have any experience?

9) Has anyone had severe anxiety and depression after an acute incident with MDMA which has lasted longer than a month or two and if so what happened?
10) Has anyone developed a tremor due to anxiety / depression or in relation to a bad experience with MDMA?

Did you know that you are supposed to wait 30 (Minimum) 60 (Sufficient) 90 days + (best amount of time to wait) between your doses of mdma?

This is to avoid the negative side effects and after effects in which you are experiencing now.
The best advice and first of all to give you is to Cease other drug use, as Polydrug use will likely cause you further problems.

The thrown in Alcohol into the equation will have made this even worse too, but.

If you edit your Post for me and change SWIM to yourself, (SWIM offers you no legal guard, i know its you, everyone knows its you) so the post is more readable (I find the SWIM thing confusing)
Its against the rules on Bluelight to use SWIM.

Change that and feel free to PM me ill try and help you out.

Not sure about taking all them supplements and stuff either. I would have thought it would be a lot of strain on the Kidneys and stomach i guess.

Instead of using the hot tub go the opposite and try taking daily cold showers or baths it really helps to awaken your senses and after about a week of doing it you really start to see the difference in your energy levels.

I been doing it for the last 3 months and i find i recover a lot quicker from workouts too.

It may sound horribal at first but you soon get used to it.
