how long will I have to wait to get high off 15 mg oxy after being on 4-8mg bupe (intranasal) for about 10 months. I am 6 feet tall and 135 lbs. ive already waited 60 hours but just wanted some input. thanks guys

I know this topic's done to death but I just wanted input on my specific situation and this message board seemed to be the most knowledgable about subs. thanks again

You will be able to feel a tiny buzz from it after a month, and maybe an actual high around 3 months after, but your tolerance won't likely be back to nothing for a very long time after stopping the suboxone.

That is surely exaggeration. By looking at the half life the bupe would be gone well before 3 mothns

You said 15mgs of oxycodone right? The blockade effect is not your problem after the first week, but tolerance is.
8mg of bupe is about equal to 160mg of oxycodone or more. You know how long it will take to lower your tolerance so you can get high off of 15mgs of oxy again? Like a said, maybe a buzz the first time you do it after a month, and then a decent high after 3 months. I kid you not, I've been there before.

wow, i didn't even consider tolerance in addition to the blockade effect. MotherF&*(er. Oh well, at least I might get a buzz off my subs now. thanks alot guys. youre the best forum on the web

One more question. If I were to be without subs for a while would the 15mgs put a dent in the sub w/d's? or is 15mg oxy useless when on subs?

It's pretty useless because even if you take it and it takes away withdrawals for a little while, then if you are planning on getting back onto the subs then you have to worry about waiting long enough to avoid precipitated withdrawals.

off topic but...i am going to start suboxone soon. what is precipitated withdrawal? i've heard the term being thrown around a lot.

I wish the doc never gave me these fuggin subs. I would much rather have just detoxed and finished COLD TURKEY instead of extending this addiction soooo long!!!

its when you take subs too soon after another opiate. sub has such a strong affinity for the opiate receptors that it "rips" any other opiate off the receptors, causing w/d.Wait til you're in w/d til you take your first dose of sub.

^ Yup, a lot of people are not fully informed about the actual potency of the drug, and that it is in fact difficult to get off of. After being on suboxone for 18 months I just moved far, far away, and did a halfass 2-3 week taper down from 16mgs, so pretty much kicked cold turkey since 3 weeks is hardly considered a taper from the dose I was at. Not fun at all, but I'm glad I got it over with back then.

It's basically when you take suboxone when you still have other opiates in your system, the suboxone will rip them off of the opiate receptors, throwing you into an immediate intense withdrawal. That's how drugs like that are effective in treating overdoses.

well..fuck.

I don't mean "3-5 days" out of your system, I just mean "when the high is over for a while and you get sick again" out of your system. You are usually fine to dose 24 hours after your last opiate use.

Precipitated w/d isn't as awful as people say. it's really fucking bad but its not the end of the world. Everything hurts for an hour then it's over. It can easily be avoided as well

sorry but you are wrong for a lot of people. maybe for you it only lasts an hour but for some people it can be the worst withdrawal they have ever experienced for 24+ hours!

^ Yea, people that don't think it is that bad have not experienced full precipitated withdrawals. I only waited like 8 hours after taking 20mg of oxycodone last week, and since the oxy barely took the sick away for long I dosed the suboxone and the PWDs weren't that bad, but I know that I got off easy since some bupe was likely attaching to open receptors at the same time as it was ripping the litle bit of oxycodone left on them off them. That's nothing like a person that OD'd on a shot of dope and gets hit with narcan. The receptors are a lot more full so a lot more is being ripped off at once making it a horrible experience that lasts for hours.
