Is "loosing the magic" permanent?

So everyone has heard of loosing the magic. To my knowledge its just having your tolerance to high thus not getting high. What I'm asking is there only so many times you can roll until its basically over? Dunzo (Game over man, game over!) Like you cant roll anymore. I know you wont get as high as the first times (but that's the same case with almost everything). I know that you build a kind of permanent tolerance to m (somebody who has done alot in their life will still need more than a noobie regardless of how long they wait)

The last time I did M I really didn't roll that hard, then again theres alot of things to take into consideration. I tested out a point of the stuff that same week (yea kinda dumb lol,) then tried to really roll that weekend off double the amount and not much happened. I really wouldn't think im at the point in my life where I have totally lost magic. To give you an idea I'm the "wacky drug kid" of my social group, but compared to your average drug user I'm not actually crazy-hardcore or anything (other e/m users would prolly call me a pussy and you may think the same after listing how much iv done lol)

To give you an idea, I was never a every weekend "E tard" or anything. In the course of four years Iv used m/e roughly 15 times. roughly 6 of those times with mdma. Honestly Iv only "Rolled" or rolled hard rolled face whatever about 6 times or so (been satisfied) alot of the times were testing small amounts of mdma (ssnorting) and taking shitty e pills (pipes, dxm, who knows lol)

It just sucks, I know everyone has to grow up but goddamn its my fav (combined with cannabis). So any input, is this just me being dumb and doing it twice in the same week or are my rolling days comming to a close... I would hope not because iv heard of people taking a ridiculous amount and still getting high (this board included) ... Also I was crazy sleep deprived the night of, if that has anything to do with it.

hell yeah it is permanent, no matter how long i take a break i can never feel like i got the magic back. and when i end up taking ecstasy i dont feel any magic present -.-

No way of knowing what you took. But it's very probable that your second roll did not work because of the roll earlier in the week.
Wait 6 months and see if you roll next time.

Losing the magics a bit different then that, id think. Take a song you were mad about for instance, you'd been newly acquainted and you were in love with it. You listened to the song all the time. Skip ahead to a time you've heard the song a bit too many times, you've started to get sick of it; Its lost its magic. The sames with MDMA, your'e just a little too well acquainted. Pick another song.

Serotonin will regerate (however slowly...), but brain damage is forever.

Remember that a metabolite of MDMA and other amphetamines is alpha-Methyldopamine.... a potent neurotoxin. So even if you haven't used ecstasy a stupid amount like some of us, you may be more susceptible to the damage and the side effects than others are.

There is of course a large chance that what you took was not even MDMA, and those random drugs can greatly speed up the damage and "loss of magic" associated with MDMA use.

Take a long break (3 months, at least) and save your rolls for special occasions. Like a vacation almost.

Not entirely true, brain damage is a loose term, there are ways to stimulate neurogenesis and nerve cell growth after experiencing brain damage. Exercise is one of these for it releases growth hormone that will stimulate such growth. Interestingly enough, there also new studies on K that suggest it can help grow entirely new brain cells and nuerons, at least it works in mice. More practically, some studies suggest certain smart drugs (nootropics) such as piracetam can help to repair cell damage. I don't know if I'd believe that, but there are also reports of racetams like this helping people to bring back "the magic" after they loose it. There are also testimonials from people who claim that they will never get it back no matter what, while others say it will come back after a long break.

How often are you using, or how long of a break do you take inbetween? In my opinion, losing magic either means lesser quality rolls, you're youre doing it too often. Replenishing serotonin takes weeks and weeks of eating right, exercise. I'd say 2 times a year, 3 max and you're fine as long ad you take care of yourself in the meantime. As someone above me stated, look at it as a special occasion drug.

I used to roll quite a bit in my youth. I'd say at the peak, I was using MDMA once every week or two for around a year, and somewhat less frequently for several years before that. I didn't usually get any of the negative effects one would associate with heavy use; for the most part I felt great the next day, definitely elevated rather than "e-tarded". I was careful not to increase my doses or take any more than two pills per night, and I didn't really do any other drugs during that time period, except for LSD maybe a handful of times. There was some loss of magic as time wore on, but I would say that mine was less severe than that of a few close friends who were following the same arc. However, I do know that what I call a "good roll" probably differs from theirs (and yours); for me it has a lot to do with the company, the music and the experience as a whole. I know there were some nights with sub-par pills that I was able to salvage with set and setting.

I haven't touched the stuff since 2001 (not a typo, I really do mean 11 years). I didn't stop due to disillusionment with the substance or the scene, but only because my supplier went out of business so therefore so did I. Procuring the stuff became expensive at best and a total crap shoot at worst. They closed my two favorite clubs that Summer as well, and the whole thing just sort of died off here.

So there I was, occasionally thinking about how it might be nice to have some MDMA again even though I didn't know ANYONE who had it and hadn't heard of anything decent coming around since W's first term. Well, what do I find last week? A supplier of that white/tan sugary crystal stuff that we didn't have going around back in my day (get off my lawn).

So I have to ask - will it be worth it? Or can the magic never come back?

As an aside, just so you don't worry about granny's mental state, I've done other things since then. I've been keeping up with my vow to go at least semi-yearly off my nut with some kind of hallucinogen just to keep perspective, and I do appreciate a bit of cocaine amongst friends one or two nights per month. Oh, and of course a beer or two while watching the game :)

If your mdma is legit and it has been 11 yrs I guarantee you will feel the magic.

Don't over-analyze the situation. I do that when I drop and it kind of kills my mood.

BE CAREFUL! Ecstasy is not what it used to be, especially if you live in the states. I hate to say it but what your dealer most likely has is some shitty knock-off RC like bk-mdma.... or worse.

Lots of different opinions but thanks non the less for all of them.

To answer the question of how often, Its basically only been during summer and midterm breaks (just finished college). About a year outline would be 4 times last summer (not necessarily rolling). Then a couple times in the month break between semester one and two. One small left over amount a month after. And the two times last week. (one small amount to test one bigger amount to roll) ... I'm realizing testing it out myself before I roll isn't the best idea lol

Something mentioned I didn't take into consideration was proper eating and exercise. I'm a lazy underweight insomniac (and just because I'm skinny doesn't mean I eat well lol)

But yeah I defiantly need to make it more a special ocassion/ vacation. I'm not saying I use often but many of the times I do is not much of a special ocassion. For instance testing it out. Im also from a small town not much in term of raving or anything so when M comes around alot of people just view it as another thing to do (no extreme planning like one would do with a hallucinogen). Lets just say people don't hold unto their caps very long.

One more question, the whole is loosing the magic permanent thing. Have you guys ever heard of anyone who does to much they just could never get high again (like even after a long break)

Thanks for the advice! I do plan to test it before I take it, of course. And since it's been so long, I'll start small.

I had rolled quite a few times and then I met someone who sold it. For several months following that meeting I was consuming MDMA several times a week until the effects were barely noticeable anymore. Foolish, I know, but being around a molly dealer who constantly offered it up for free was hard to resist...lol. Anyways after not rolling for about a year and consuming a 200mg capsule of what was presumable absolutely pure, I rolled harder than I ever did in my life. I don't think "losing the magic" is generally permanent, but it may be for some people :-/

I used to be a heavy roller for about 3 years. I have had 3-4 years off now since the last time I did it and last night dosed around 150-200mg of molly. I rolled, and yeah it was fun, but nothing special. It was over after about an hour and a half and I felt a little depressed for a little and was able to fall asleep around 4 hours after it ended.

Felt ok today though, but I'm not blown away by my experience last night, in fact, I kind of regret it. It's just not there anymore.

It really has made me think that damage/down-regulation to the neurotransmitters and recepters is permanent or semi-permanent.

I think that Poly-Drug users may well experience Permanent side effects.

However,
If you take mdma on a very infrequent basis (Ideally no sooner than 50 days between your last time i'd say) and you post load with Vitamin C, drink green tea, and then exercise and eat well the weeks after, you should make a good road to recovery each time.

Having tried mdma as my first drug, and not even tried cannabis till months after, Ive become a stoner now, I recently took mdma and i must say that being able to use cannabis on the recovery period really REALLY smoothes the comedown and it's much easier.
