A crack dealer aged 14 was arrested by police and Cambridge teens prefer drugs to alcohol, a study has revealed. The shock data that youngsters in the city choose illegal drugs over booze compared to their counterparts in the rest of the county was given to Cambridge Community Safety Partnership by the Drug and Alcohol Action Team (DAAT). The details released under the Freedom of Information Act also reveal the youngest person in Cambridgeshire arrested for dealing crack cocaine was just 14, while the youngest person caught in possession of cannabis was 13. The youngest person to be caught with Ecstasy was 16, as was the youngest person arrested for dealing heroin.

'Shock data' is always a term used in the UK.

As for this story it's not surprising really is it. Cambridge is a pretty posh area as well and less chav drunk culture so i'd expect people to prefer having a joint or trip or pill.

I lived/worked there for 10 years. It's definitely a place with character. All social classes there speak with what would be considered a "posh" accent anywhere else.

What a poorly-written article.

WTF is this mess?

And alcohol sucks IMO, so I'm not surprised by these "findings".

Not a great surprise to me really as over the years I've known of quite a few very busy crack houses on the Arbury estate.

^You mean you are shock cause article is bad and show according to studies more people like illegal drug and 14 age crack dealer got arrested! This is shock fact! If they don't drink as much, how can we expect to keep our jobs as incompetent writers who get wasted before writing shit articles?

Wow that's some poor english. Alcohol is an inferior drug to many illegal ones, I stopped liking getting drunk when I was 14 or 15, and now my stomach can't handle heavy drinking anyway. But yeah, alcohol is a very nice drug at low to moderate doses, but getting sloppy drunk is just unpleasant for me, especially the next day.

The binge drinking culture here in America (and I live in a huge college town- over 100,000 college students here) has always really turned me off, it's obnoxious, stupid and gross. I really don't understand why people like to go out and get shit faced once or twice or more a week, I would feel awful if I did that. As illegal drugs become more socially acceptable I bet that more and more people will move towards other drugs and away from binge drinking.

i'm all for drug legalisation and came to drugs pretty late it seems (19 first time smoked weed, properly), but a 14yo crack dealer and 13yo heroin dealer is fucked up. wtf shitty parents.

^That's pretty fucked up, but it's pretty common for teenagers to be selling crack and dope here in the states. They get shorter sentences, are young and reckless, and think that getting a few thousand bucks is like being a millionaire. Still pretty fucked up, but when I was 14 I bought both crack and heroin from kids who were my age.
