Stimulants Adderall XR (30MG) Question!!!

Hi guys. So glad i found this forum. Please offer your best, supportive insight to my question. Today, i bought a 30MG Adderall XR, note that, it is an XR not an instant release...I will be taking this tomorrow morning at approximately 6:45 Am..i have a 3 hour exam from 8-11 . I have never taken an amphetamine before.. but also realize I was a coffee addict for a decent period of time and i abused the hell out of it..so my body does have experience with stimulants. I have long quit coffee..,but i do drink 2-3 cups of green tea a day which also contains roughly 20mg caffeine per each cup. So, if i take the 30MG Xr, at 6:45..will i be up all night..i keep seeing conflicting answers to this problem.. some people claim it has made them stay up for 24 hours which i do not want..but others say its about a 8 hour effect. What will happen to me ? im 6 feet and weigh 174 or so...first time ever taking an adderall and i can not get a lower dosage. A 30MG Xr is my only option. Will i be able to fall asleep by midnight tomorrow..and will i get the negative symptoms of anxiety, excessive jitteryness, etc
 
Ugh. find out or dont take it. You can take 15mgs...empty half the capsule in your mouth..end/No. I dont think alcohol lasts That Long
 
Adderall is better for studying than it is for test taking IMO. It's easy to end up over analyzing things on the test.

Just because it is an XR doesn't mean that you can't only take half of it. Pour half of the beads out and you will have about 15mg there. Actually I suggest taking them out anyway, so that it doesn't last too long and you can still sleep later on. I usually just pour half the beads out into my mouth and chew on some of them a little. Personally I wouln't take adderall for my first time when I have a big test, but that's just me.
 
Yeah, I remember the first time I tried Adderall XR, 10mg and I was tweaking all day at school, haha. Definitely pour out the beads, Tommyboy gave solid advice and I agree with 100% of the content of his post, particularly the last bit about not trying it the first time on such an important day. I can't imagine how bad it would have been at schoool if I had taken 30mg XR my first time, I was off the walls at 10mg XR didn't even tamper with the time release.
 
I always crush the beads and put them back in the capsule, it gives a much smoother effect. You'd probably want to leave them intact if the test is later in the day though


But taking drugs won't make you smarter... maybe you'll focus more, but its been proven that amphetamines don't really make you work any better than you do sober. You're actually less productive or about the same and just think you're doing so much better :\
 
first time i did 40 mgs xr. i only dosed once. i stayed up for three days and hallucinated that birds made of stars were hanging out on a tree outside my window, talking to each other. amphetamines can be hectic when you have no tolerance. unfortunately, tolerance builds fast.

Jeez, and i thought I had it bad at 10mg! I can't imagine.

@ Folley I used to do that too, after 10mg XR didn't get me tweaked like it used to, I started making my XRs into IRs, haha.

I find them to help with focus and concentration, but yea, they don't make you smarter and it doesn't really help with test taking. The only time I took them before a test I found it to make things worse. It's easy for your mind to get locked on the wrong things, and when it gets locked on the right things you spend too much time on them and before you know it time is running out. It's a lot more useful for studying for the test than it is for the actual test taking.
 
^Well said Tommyboy. While amphetamines help with locking your brain on many things (sometimes things other than school) - if you can muster up the self control to just focus on schoolwork while the amphetamines are working its, well, amazing.
 
It was a bit unnerving for me to use Adderall as a study aid. Because It makes me too productive and too dialed in. It's like, the anti-ADD, and the other end of the spectrum, that is, undivided attention is not always desired.

This is why I personally like desoxyn a lot better because it doesn't "force" attention, also, less side effects.
 
15mg of adderall just made me feel weird, and kind of pissed off and dull.

30mg is what i needed to start enjoying the effects.

But try 15mg first, not everyone is going to have the same tolerance and I'm sure their was some cross tolerance from previous cocaine use.

Yea, that's more what I meant when I said it can be bad to take it during a test because your mind may get locked on the wrong thing. Like the answer to a question on the test might be very simple and right in front of your face, yet you think too deep and might be looking in the wrong direction for your answer when over-analyzing it.
 
yeah, I remember always walking out of class thinking "fuck yeah aced that shit", then get back my test and it's like "wow, I really went off on a tangent and should have just answered the question".

Except in science class, always did well in there.
 
I remember my first time misusing adderall ... friend told me to take about six 20mgir tabs when I asked why he thought they were useful.....really dangerously high amount of amps but it was OK. Adderall on a test day first time sounds iffy. You will just feel more awake
 
First time I took adderall I was young and didn't know shit about amphetamines. I took 50 mg XR in the afternoon the day of thanksgiving. I ended up not eating, not sleeping for 36 hours, and was talking to anything willing to listen haha. But I felt amazing and cleaned the shit out of my room when I got back from dinner.

If it's your first time (even after 1 use, the way your body handles the drug will be different IME/IMO) then expect to be up at least until like 2 AM if you dose at 6:45. It *should* last 8 hours, but 30 mg is a pretty large dose for a naive user. Do what above users said and empty half the beads out. Or crush the beads and take them orally---making it a 30 mg IR essentially. You'll sleep fine if you do that
