So I've never run across this problem before due to the fact that I have never misplaced/lost or found, for that matter, old dope, but... I pulled back my mattress today and found a bag of some tar. Can't be any older than 2-3 wks (since it was purchased) and is a bit dry but still wrapped up, not tied closed so surely exposed to air but definitely wrapped and protected from dust and what not. So... anyone ever IVed 3 week old tar? Should I plug it? Should I toss it? Thoughts? TY

Am I missing something here? Why wouldn't it be good? It's not milk. Do you really think all the heroin you buy on the street always gets from the producer, through all the middle men and to your deale then into your hands in under three week?

LOL I know I don't get the dope the day it was made. I read some where, I think on BL that it will turn into morphine n not be as strong after a while. I just wanted a few thoughts on it... I was prob gonna bang it either way? TY

from what i understand it will only turn back into morphine if you store it in water.

this thread is ridiculous but better safe than sorry.

3 weeks is nothing. Just take the usual precautions (micron filter etc) and you're good to go.

Hah, 3 weeks? Fuck man that'd shit already be in my arm... I've done east coast bags that had to be a good year old and still got the same bang for my buck, hah. As far as it turning into morphine, that's only if it is stored in a solution for a while. It starts to degrade. For it to even start degrading into morphine as a solid, it'd have to be out and exposed to the air for a good decade.

except this isnt the good east coast powder. its nasty mexican tar.... i was just thinking that could be the only kicker. But ok ill just treat it as if i just got it n fire away. TY

You'll be fine to inject that.

I would not IV something that's been stored possibly improperly for like a month. It would definitely have to be micron'd again before I'd even consider that.

This is tar heroin we're talking about. By now likely it's mostly morphine now with possibility of bacterial growth. I would discard it.

It takes a lot longer for it to degrade to morphine. Here is some info that gives an idea as to the rate at which tar heroin degrades to morphine.

The DEA Southwest Laboratory (Vista, California) recently received a request for an analysis on a ten year old black tar heroin exhibit. The original seizure was made in late 1995 by U.S. Customs Service (USCS) personnel at the Nogales, Arizona Point of Entry, but was not analyzed at that time because the suspect escaped back into Mexico (he recently returned to the United States and was apprehended). The evidence originally consisted of a single package of suspected black tar heroin, wrapped in clear plastic and black electrical tape. USCS agents opened the package (in 1995) to conduct field testing (positive for heroin) and the evidence was re-packaged in two portions: Most of the sample was left in its original wrapping, but the small portion that was removed for field testing was re-packaged in a separate evidence envelope. Upon submission for analysis (in 2005), the two portions were analyzed as separate exhibits. The smaller portion (total net mass 6.4 grams (see Photo 7)) had a dry texture; analysis by GC/MS and GC/FID confirmed 22 percent heroin and 51 percent O6-monoacetyl-morphine (both calculated as the hydrochlorides). The larger portion (total net mass 204.7 grams) was still gummy and moist from being sealed in its original plastic packaging; analysis (same techniques) confirmed 4.1 percent heroin and 63 percent O6-monoacetylmorphine (again, both calculated as the hydrochlorides). This is believed to be the first analyses of ten year old black tar heroin exhibits by the Southwest Laboratory. (source)

Oh wow yeah now I remember reading that.

It's good that apparently the tar was packaged correctly! Who stores a batch of heroin for 10 years? Either they forgot about it or buried it and just got out of prison or something, ha.
