mushrooms with no yawning

Recently had a couple of pretty strong mushroom doses that strangely didn't invoke any yawning, first time that has happened, i always yawn heaps on shrooms.

The only thing different about these shrooms were that they had been stored for a few months (really well dried) in glass jars, the potency hasn't diminished, if anything it seems to have gotten 20 to 30 % stronger which is also a mystery. I was thinking maybe the yawning is caused by some other chemical reaction other than the psilocybin and that compound has diminished due to the storage, I had the same shrooms from the same batch and the same jar a couple of times a few weeks after storing them and I yawned like a pro, now a few months later nothing , its got me baffled.

Any ideas what's going on with the pharmacology here ?

(just as a footnote.. I had taken some codeine for a back ache a couple of hours before dosing the shrooms but not a huge amount (2 X 30's pure codeine)

Serotonergic action in the hypothalamus probably, maybe some dopaminergic action as well since psilocybin / psilocin are not entirely exclusive to serotonin. It's most likely not a different chemical, just the particular structure of the normal alkaloids that have a peculiar effect in certain parts in the brain that are either not happening with a lot of other psychedelics or overruled by activity in different parts of the brain.
A reason to think it's just the tryptamines is that other synthetic analogues of psilocin can also exhibit these mushroomy physical effects though I have to admit that mushrooms do this the most. There are other typical tryptamine effects besides yawning, like jelly legs, physical lethargy, a vibrational feeling, the illusion of wetting yourself and other phenomena.

Never had the illusion of wetting myself thank god lol, thanks for the feedback though, good stuff.

It's not that common but it happens often enough to consider it a known theme for mushrooms, yeah it sucks questioning if you just peed yourself for like an hour. Happened to me maybe as rarely as I got complete synaesthesia... which is really special and a shame that it doesn't happen more often. :) It is common to get a hint of it. Goes for other psychedelics as well though some of them have more affinity for it, 2C-E often causes melding together of senses for example.

All the other symptoms/traits you mentioned I totally agree with, I actually really like the yawning myself, It somehow validates the come up for me and to me it feels like at the end of a huge yawn I can feel the affects transfer from my jaw to back of my neck and then pulsing down my spine like liquid electricity or something (hard to describe) but it kinda kicks the trip into a full body load and spreads the affects out nicely from just a head/brain experience to the full immersion, it's really nice lol.

The only other tryptamine I have had is NN-DMT and on that I don't even have legs to go wobbly :)

Oh no, N,N-DMT was never wobbly or wonky for me either. On that I am either outside of myself (or deep inside rather), and in some occasions I can walk fine. Also 5-subbed tryptamines also don't show jelly legs but have other typical profiles. I think the ones I mentioned are about 4-subbed tryptamines mostly.
I think the yawning can be nice and just basically an accepted part of the experience but it can go together with trying to stretch my entire body... which can be annoying since actually stretching doesn't satisfy the feeling and I keep wanting to stretch more and more.

Off topic but funny and worth sharing with you just for the laugh... I had 3 friends in England many years ago that had a massive dose of liberty caps and then presented themselves at a casualty department of the local hospital and demanded to be measured because they were shrinking, I had forgotten about that until a few minutes ago and it made me smile.

I always tend to feel really sweaty/damp on psilacetin. Like I can feel all my bodily fluids in great detail. I also yawn a bunch (mostly on the come up) and sometimes feel lethargic.
