Jaysus, BCF, just gone through the angry thread and it sounds like a toooootal nightmare, there's no stress like shit housemate stress and it sounds like she can supply that in spades. Good luck with it, well done for finding some smoke... there's always some somewhere... although I do remember putting a dead woodlouse in a pipe and smoking it once because in its curled up, dessicated state (and my extreme drunkenness) I thought it was a little ball of black hash. Not the smoothest or most psychoactive of smokes I must say. :sus:

I'd laugh quite alot if they hit you with a stick =D

Edit: @ TheSpade

As for the shallow thing not really I'm actually almost wanting the ex back, I just duno if it's wise, well it's definately not.. I don't know if it was arranging to meet the random bird up the road or my wording that made me shallow. The choice of words didn't really seem bad. Either way it's fair to say I'm making the most of an unemployed thursday!

I always wondered how, in ancient times, they figured out 'you should smoke this, but not this'. I guess you would have been the guy going around smoking everything? :sus:

I've been shifting furniture around all morning and have just got in grubby and running late for my lunch date. Nails and everything need doing.. at least I wont need to do the toenails.. he's a boots man.

Youre all groovy I trust <3

Ha ha quite possibly. A situation which is being repeated in this day and age by the RC dustbins who'll scarf novel compounds so we don't have to.

@YPDH Good luck with the lunch date and pre-date beauty routine. That reminds me, I really must floss today.

^ I've thought about that too :D massive thanks to the ancient drugs testers who discovered the wonders of cannabis, mushrooms, mescaline etc :D

BCF it does sound like an absolute nightmare :! my last housemates owe me hundreds of pounds - I paid a lot of bills over the winter as they were all skinted, they promised to pay mje back but did a runner when we moved out and I've not been able to contact them sicne. Should have probably taken it to the small claims court or something but I was going through a rough patch and let it slide.. the worst was a guy we had move in half way through the year - my housemates were dicks but he seemed decent, we got on really well, and he had a good job and money aa well - he owes me a couple of hundred for council tax as well as the heating bill. I basically paid all the council tax on a 4 bed house myself as the others were students, but I lost my single person discount when he moved in. Fucksake! :X Don't let that happen to you BCF <3

Good luck Yellow-Love :) <3

Jancrow your avatar is amazing :sus:

I have been more and more concerned about the ancient milk testers to be honest. Somewhere, sometime, some poor bastard had to milk a rat/cat/dog and taste it, before we settled on cows and goats. I think we'll leave that to Rockstar :D

Why thank you effie, I'm extremely fond of it myself. :sus: is as :sus: does.

MSB, it is a fascinating avenue to explore and I think about it quite a lot. What interests me is why people started eating things which need loads of preparation to render them edible, olives being a prime example. I guess they grew in places where not much else survived and became a food source despite being disgusting in their natural state and people worked on ways to make them a bit less vile.

Crikey. Hasn't it been suggested that due to their use of lead piping a lot of Roman citizens were suffering from lead poisoning and hence had a massively diminished sense of taste? I think that recreations of authentic Roman recipes have proved to be extremely heavily spiced and pungently flavoured and it's speculated that lead poisoning could be at the root of it.

I didn't know about the lead poisoning theory jancrow. I watched one of those Mary Beard programs, she really is in her own little world lol. Almost all ancient history or classics teachers are like her though. I didn't get on particularly well with that topic because the source material is rather limited. It is difficult for there to be much debate on the topic, so it just becomes a case of trying to figure out their way of life and a basic timeline. I guess that's why Roman history is the first history we really learn in primary school. I've been to a few Roman sites in Italy, but they are just tourist traps IMO. I'd like to go to Rome in the off season though. One of the courses I got into at Warwick included a year in Venice, but I decided partying was more important haha.

I don't normally like The Hairy Bikers, but their series going around Europe is really good, especially high.

Since you've got Rome and bikers in that post I'm going to recommend that you watch the faintly ridiculous but exciting Roma by Fellini, which ends with a bunch of bikers riding around the Colosseum.

Rome is a great place to visit. I only heard about the lead poisoning theory from my heavily bearded Classics teacher about twenty five years ago so it may not be widely accepted but it's an interesting proposition.

I'll try and find that documentary Jan, cheers!

I have never heard of Ephasus before b&w. It does look pretty awesome. I always neglect the Roman/Greek/Byzantian sites in Turkey for some reason. That country needs at least 6 months to see everything properly, I would say. Likewise I think Italy could take a long time to get round if you wanted to do it right. The only problem I have with Italy is the Italians =D (copy pasta from Prince Phillip on Brazil, although I happen to love Brazilians, both the trim and the people!)

The Italians are brilliant, crazy funny bonkers mother fuckers. Very much the opposite of the English so having part italian blood i can see why misunderstandings can arise. I went to rehab in Italy <3 and they sorted me right out lol.

I'm the same with not thinking of the Romans in Turkey first off MSB, until someone told me. Maybe its a school thing.

I wish this fucking weather would make up its mind.
