I just wanted to take this moment , to say thank you bluelight . Thanks to bluelight I've found a future in pharmacology after returning from being a junkie IV'ing ice 5 times a day for the last 2 years , mods , you do a great job and the information here really does do its job .

Thanks Bluelight ,
PeacePipeChief .

This is one of the reasons why I'm actually active on this site. So how'd you get a future in Pharmacology?! I'm thinking of becoming a Pharmacist one day.

Wow that's so cool! It makes me feel like I too can have a future :)
But like, how do you even start to get into pharmacology.
I was always interested in the research and technical side :P But I found high school chemistry the booorriinnngggest shit ever, unless it mildly related to drugs.

yeah i havent even finished year 12 i left in year 10 , so its harder for me to get to where i wanna be , i have to do a pharmacist assistant tafe course , then theres a course i have to do while im working in a chemist , cert 2 community chemist assistant course which qualifies me for either another tafe course cert 3 , or a university course , if its tafe first though then i have to do that third course , then uni , then im qualified :)

6 months ago my plan was to become a drug lord and continue doing ice till the day i died , and i was well on my way being connected to bikies , one of the biggest ice dealers in sydney who wanted me to 'hang' with him but then i got involved in bikies who showed me a better way without ice , i had also already taken over my areas weed distribution practically and was making 1000+ a day . then after i split from the bikies i got back into ice then nearly died :/ so i decided to turn my life around .

I wanted to be a pharmacist at one point, but I was turned off by the fact that you learn so many interesting things about how drugs work and how our bodies work and then never use any of that information again. Customers don't want to know about how their medications work, they just want it to work... and a great deal of the job is basically just data entry. Hell the computer will tell you if there are drug interactions or other problems as long as you give it the correct information. The community pharmacy sector is also struggling due to the emergence of large franchises and the 'race to the bottom' mentality, pay is not as good as it used to be and unless you want to work in rural areas there is a glut of pharmacists in most metropolitan areas.

Clinical pharmacy would be interesting though, I've talked to a few people who have worked in that and they all enjoyed the job very much.

Thanks comrade, and I'm glad you have gotten this out of BL. :)

Don't forget that it isn't just us mods, but all the regular contributors to AusDD who make this place what it is!

yeah my eventual plan is to practically be able to do as i please with medicines/drugs , chemical wise , and eventually work in a lab .
the courses im going into wont enable this completely , but its a step in the right direction and an immediate solution to work in the industry i hope to have a long lasting career in .

pharmacy assistant is my first course , so i can work in a pharmacy and approve prescriptions and such , general shit . i dont have too much information about it so far . but i know this is the best chance i have in this area of expertise . i know that this course leads to another course to become a proper pharamcy assistant , then theres the uni courses and shit which are the proper pharmacology courses that i plan on getting into once qualified .

if this is actually true, it's probably not the wisest thing to discuss on a public forum. for one thing you wouldn't want the cops finding out. bikies might not be so pleased either...regardless of whether you're still in the game or not.

discretion is your friend.

Best of luck with it, but just in case you don't know, seems there is a lot of dissatisfaction about pharmacy career opportunities. Check http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies.cfm?t=1514268, possibly read page 21 onwards if you're strapped for time. Seems not many if any pharmacists in there are happy.

Not having a go, but if your opinion is that money > anything, I guess it may dissuade some. I used to think this way, ended up making a lot of money with my work, but I wasn't happy. I've certainly changed my opinion now. Others may tend to think along the lines of "Find a job you love and you never work another day in your life", which may make your point moot. If people complaining about earning a very decent wage working a very respectable job on an internet forum is going to sway their career choice, then maybe that's not what they wanted to do anyway.

Good to hear bluelight has had such a positive impact on your life peacepipechief.

I can relate, I was a down and out alcoholic arts student with absolutely no direction in life before I found MDMA and consequently bluelight. After gaining a mild addiction to recreational drug research (and use...) I found I became a walking encyclopaedia within months and then had the idea of making a career out of it.

Now I'm a fucking scientist =D Somehow went from failing everything in an arts degree to passing with flying colours in a medical degree. Funny how you can apply yourself when your actually interested in what you study :\ Ritalin helps also...

My degree is geared more to drug design/development though, straight pharmacology without any of the retail marketing business of pharmacy. No way I could work in a shop front my entire life. Guess I owe bluelight a bit of a thankyou to.

(and that be a milestone 400th post.)

I'm slowly drifting away from my arts degree at the moment, and I'm obsessed with researching drugs as well. I'd love to do something in pharmacology. Let's hope my life pans out as successfully as it has for you, L3inad.

yeah fuck thats inspiring lol good job , yeah i was in yr 9 when i started drinking every day , barely passed year 10 which the certificate counts for nothing anymore , end of year 10 became addicted to ice then found with website 2 months after nearly dying , didnt have a care in the world for where my life went i wanted to be a drug lord lol . but then i decided to just 'get a job' which i kept postponing anyway then i found this now i really want a career in this area of proffession .

How was your home life? Did your parents have anything to say?
I've been putting off getting a job for ages...

Epic turn around man. I really do hope you get everything you want out of this new path.

I'd say coming from what you have is the inspiration, I had the poster child up bringing. Nuclear family, money, education - the lot.
And choose to piss all my good fortune against a wall.... Really is odd that drugs of all things gave me direction in life. %)

Just do it jaurk. Nothing like that natural dopamine you get from job satisfaction. I shit you not. I'm a scientist ;)

EDIT::

@Nozphexezora Its kinda worth it just to add weight to your knowledge. Everyone thinks that what they know is correct, not the case at all. However in my friend circles, when it comes to drugs - my word is law. I wouldn't go as far to say my HR advice has saved lives, but its definitely prevented dozens of trainwrecks in the making. But now I get phone calls effectively every friday/saturday night along the lines of 'so I just took this, now I wanna take that - am I gunna die?' does get tiresome after a while.

My family life was great , badass awsome older brother though , my parents were loving and Caron bought us heaps of shit we did heaps of sports , then I got to 10 and my brother introduced me to a bit of alcohol , at 11 I got into cigarettes at the skate park , by 12 I tried bongs with a mate who had a bad up bringing lol then by 14-15 I was drinking all the time by choice then got kicked out for that and got worse .

I need to just suck it up and get atleast a part time job to lol , I've put it off for way too long , now that I've got centerlink I realize it's really not enough to live properly on lol .

I just woke up at 6 am , when I took a piss I saw a note on my door saying 'get rid of the pot or move out' ... Ffs lol gonna do housework and hope my brothers gf backs off or gonna hide the weed and paraphernalia like a ninja .. This would fuck almost everything up lol .
