Most of the people I know who go to the gym go to get fitter, makes you feel better both physically and mentally. I notice if I miss days I feel a bit lethargic knowing I never did any exercise.

Can't wait til it stops raining so much gonna get heavy back into the motorbike and running.
 
I do a lot of road cycling and go through cycles of weight lifting (usually when I'm feeling skinny from the cycling!).

IMO a lot of people suffering from stress, anxiety etc should make sure they are doing regular cardio. There really is nothing more relaxing and fun than going out on a bike ride through the countryside for a few hours in the evening, and you'll be surprised how far you can go. My lungs take a fair battering and I can still manage 80 mile rides. No 100kg bench press can give you that feeling of accomplishment!

I'm at work at the moment so can't view your video, but I've watched Pumping Iron a couple of times. "The pump to me is like cumming!" Haha.

But yeah, I stand by my opinion cycling 80 miles would give you a bigger sense of achievement than lifting 100kg. Plus it's a darn sight more fun cycling along country roads than being in a room full of guys checking themselves out in mirrors and over emphasising grunts whilst lifting weights.

But for the record, tonight I will be stuck in a room over emphasising my grunts and checking myself out in the mirror!
 
Bit of both is good for the health ;) agree though I would feel more satisfied having done a long cycle than reached a new weight on the bench. I wouldn't like to just do cardio and no weight training though.

Just back from a 3 mile run. Might up the distance a bit soon!
 
been back on the fitness. starting to bulk up again. only problem is ive gotten into the bad habit of eating late in the evening, sometimes before bed. my plan was to eat well all day then ease off, do some fitness in the evening, finish off with protein then eat nothing until the next day. eating before sleeping is unessesary. stuffing my face whilst drunk is another thing ive gotta stop doing. probably the lack of cals my body was used to from lager, given up lager and only drink vodka now

I also quit beer a couple years ago. If I drink to get pissed which is almost never, I stick to neat spirits.

It deffo helps if you wanna firmer stomach.

Or just stick to illegal drugs. Zero calories and twice the fun! ;)

Yepppp! It's a nice little circuit in a walk near my house, I usually jog the first little bit to get there then run (not quite flat out but fast) round the circuit, then jog the road back to my house.

If you drink vodka and coke or whatever tbh it's not much better than beer really. For a while I was just drinking vodka black current and water but they go down far too easily and you end up costing yourself a fortune, just stick to pints and a couple of vodkas lately lasts longer and don't end up drinking as much.

I know a couple of very keen gym goers who will only drink gin and tonic or white win - no calories! Only thing is lets face it you'd look like a dafty and I don't really like either of them at all.

If summer's good I'm gonna try living on the beach for a bit.
Just catch fish and stay in a tent with some basic survival stuff.

+ no need to shower with the ocean nearby.
 
I don't even attempt it the day after drinking, I can do weights etc but I just can't be fucked going for a run today. Only had a few pints but was up late and a bit tired. Lacking the enthusiasm.

That's a cool idea cornishman I like it. I usually go away with the boys for a week upto this really nice beach up north, go camping, bit of banter etc. Can't say I'm much use at fishing but I do try!
 
Vodka n diet coke for me, zero cals n sugar etc. they go down proper well, costs fuck loads though
 
Vodka on it's own has calories in it man. I've just been trying to cut down the amounts I've been drinking a bit. I can drink vodka black current and waters all night go through far more drinks doing that. Basically no matter what you drink it's not helping at all with the gym/working out, equally though I'm not likely to completely cut out the partying anytime soon.
 
There are 55 cals in a shot (25ml) of vodka. I dunno about you guys but if i'm drinking vodka i'll have a minimum of 20-30 in a night, so that's easily a roast dinner or a huge KFC meal... It's not even the calories that's the only problem. You have the dehydration, which hinders muscle growth. You have the reduced protein synthesis caused by alcohol consumption. You have reduced testosterone and increased cortisol from the drinking. Your body doesn't burn fat properly, and it doesn't absorb vitamins and minerals. You don't sleep properly. You stand a pretty high chance of eating a 1000 calorie kebab at the end of the night. And then there's the obvious hangover.

Don't get me wrong, I did love drinking. But it pisses me off that I wasted well over half the effort I put in 7 days a week eating right, and exercising, on such a shitty drug. At least if I bash stims I am cutting =D
 
55 cals in a shot wtf! didn't realize that. thought it was practically calorie-less or something. i drink loads of it, too much. although its so expensive now i run outta money before i end up fully hammered these days. which is partly why i end up on the meph or other crap. body has had a right old battering over the years from booze n stims

Good post. That is indeed the problem if I drink pints over a night I'll probably have about 8-10 then a few vods and away home or mates. If I drink vods I'll easily put away a 70cl or 20+ drams and still be drinking til the morning on whatevers left. And that is the problem. Even more so with my vodka black current & waters, believe me when I say they go down RIDICULOUSLY easy. Might aswell be a shot. Your bang on aswell it is 100% the dehydration that's the problem, if I'm semi complimentis at the end of the night and pack in a few glasses of water (doesn't happen often) I can usually work out the next day. And yeah drinking alot I always need a kebab, burger or chinese at the end of the night. Probably eat a fry up for breakfast after aswell tbh.

The last bit is especially true, but it's nowhere near as bad as a night on the stims (which always involved twice as much booze) and then you really have wasted a week working out.

I notice ketamine is one thing that no matter how much I tan through I can a) still work out and b) get fitter quicker! Explain that?!

Spot on. I dont think many people (including I), think about this, with any hindsight.

My order from a supplement website comes tomorrow, and I ordered Electrolytes, as i've had experience of using them after a nights boozing before. It was powder last time, and it worked a treat. Tasted awful though. This time i've ordered capsules:

Someone would make a killing if they made a research chemical alcohol replacement.
Prof David Nutt was on about pagoclone as an alternative....

Nowadays I have a few valiums in the same manner as I would've drunk a few pints in the past.

The only thing is alcohol always seems to work day in day out (at least every evening), whereas benzo tolerance builds so fast it's ridiculous.
