I like the Gramtik track. tons going on. definition of sound is great (& they've got a little bit of DoS the band going on for them too). classy. just listened to this which seems to be their version of a bond theme. overall, way too 'lounge bar trendy' band-wise for me to want to listen to them regularly, but they are decent.

they remind me of a mix between Definition of Sound, Portishead, Frontier Psychiatrist (<-- <3 that track) ... with a bit of Moondog's Bird's Lament (used by Mr Scruff)

That's what I thought the first time I listened to them (re: Frontier Psychiatrist). Sort of glitch hoppy I guess? Maybe verging on RJD2, DJ Yoda, DJ Food and even Tha Trickaz. I played it to my dad and he just looked at me as if to say 'you stoner'.

Dubstep (well, the Skrillex end of it) is alienating the fuck out of everyone I know who has real appreciation of music, no matter what their age or listening history.

Put me on the spot now lol. Just quickly looking through the recently played history on Traktor the first thing that jumps out is this - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SqjW64Ok95E

This is good. Just enough going on to keep my interest and fill the silence, but not so much i'm distracted. I think it'd be good music to work to. It doesn't feel like it is busy enough to any drugs but stims to though, and I spend the majority of my time high (well used to). I agree on the Skrillex front. I don't like how transparent Skrillex himself is. He is like JK Rowling - taking all the best bits of a range of genres and mashing them together shitly. I've got to say I do enjoy a fair bit of other dubstep though, the wub wub just gets to me what can I say?!

I'd never heard of this Maetrik guy before, the more I listen the better it gets. Most house/electro music is a bit too minimal for me, and this almost is, but it's definitely good background music. I verge toward stuff like this if i'm listening to electro/trance/house on my own:

I don't know anybody above the age of 14 who does like Skrillex.

He's famously hated. Like Bieber.

Exactly! He's fucking awful. I was truly shocked at these cunts. Turned out they'd been at the same club night as us on the Saturday night, so I assumed they'd have a similar taste in music (or at least in "dance" music) but nope. Totally fucking opposite. Even when it came to hip hop they were all daft for shite grime MCs & only the most commercial UK stuff. If you tried to get talking to them about anything but classic US stuff then it was Lil Wayne, anycunt on Young Money & anycunt with a Lil before there name. They knew fuck all about anything good.

I later found out they were only at that club night because one of the wee guy's sisters was DJing lol. She knew the script. Ended her set (& the night) on this - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KEV5HlsPn64

I spent the rest of the day harassing the wee dude because his sister has better taste in music than him.

Getting old? :D

Happens to us all. Embrace it.

Aye exactly haha. I realised that I was at least 5 years older than all of them & was talking to them about music the way my dad would talk to me lol.

Maetrik is the boss right now. Every track I've got by him is banging (it's techno btw, not house/electro. Just to be pedantic lol). Not really music for half 12 on stoner day though. I've changed it up for this now - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vT1PwvJIXj4

JOEY! %)

Where do the gospels contradict each other violently? In the vast majority of important areas like Jesus' teachings they validate each other, which is the whole point.

Check out this. Apologies for it being found on evilbible.com, but there are some of the main problems, mostly in the synoptic gospels but a few from elsewhere.

Though I suppose the second part of the quote above means it's moot, being a tacit admission that you believe it's the teachings that are important rather than the 'historical' context or the veracity (or otherwise) of the scribes' accounts. Which is entirely your call of course.

Right, that's my last bit of religion for today, if only because the irony of my current avatar being used in this context has set me up for the weekend.

They are hardly the violent contradictions you rested your argument on... It's not like Jesus said 'Thou shalt not each cucumber', then ate one 10 seconds later or anything. He also didn't make the mistake of straying to science, as the Koran does, when it states ridiculous shit like sperm originating from between the lower ribs and back bone.

We should probably just leave it there lol.

Not at all. I can't fucking stand Boys Noize, I have heard of but not knowingly heard Sebastian. I very much doubt I would like him.

Boys Noize absolutely destroyed a DJ set at a Pressure birthday a few years back though, Carl Craig was meant to headline but cancelled so Boys Noize got pushed up the bill. I'd never heard of him before. He was quality. I've seen him since though & thought he was awful, also think his own tunes are shite. I don't like that style at all, there's a few cunts at it.

Btw - When I shouted JOEY! at the end of that post it was in reference to the Joe Budden video I thought I had linked (but I fucked the link, corrected it now)

MSB - You can't back up one ridiculous book by saying "well at least it's not as ridiculous as that other book" lol.

Boys Noize used to be really good, then they went to shit. I dunno what happened.

I'm not trying to back up the bible by saying, yeah well this books shit. I thought we were having a scholarly Christianity vs Islam debate. Any way, religion over for the day. It's friday, not sunday, afterall.

Sorry for being pure pedantic again but this is one thing that always gets on my tits.

Boys Noize is one guy. So he used to be good, then he went to shit :)

I think he was good that first time because no-one had heard of him, he had to play to the crowd a bit more, played what people actually wanted to hear. When I've seen him play more recently he's still playing what the crowd want to hear, but to a totally different crowd than that first time. A crowd of people who are there to see BOYS NOIZE WOOOOOYEAHHHH! & who also probably think there's more than one of him ;)

I beg to differ but you're right - probably best to leave it there, eh?

Sorry, last point. The bible makes no claims to perfection. Nor do it's followers have to. As long as the teachings are in agreement that really is all that matters. The Koran on the other hand has to be 'perfect', as Muslims state it is the uncorrupted word of God. They also say it was Mohammed's only miracle, which proves he was a prophet. They also say that Islam was needed despite there being no prophecy of it in the bible because Christianity and Judaism were corrupted, which seems odd given that the koran probably contains worse contradictions and much more false information. So the ramifications of the koran being incorrect are far more important than the ramifications of a few minor contradictions on dates and timings in the bible.

This conversation is confusing. There doesn't seem to be anyone arguing that the Koran isn't total bullshit.

As far as I can tell, there isn't.

My point was that people in glass houses (Christians) shouldn't be so hasty to throw stones at their Muslim neighbours. Which I wish I hadn't done now as it's killed Gibberings, but I'll never learn.

After Oioioi HE totally went to shit. I know there's only one of him, my friend's pic on facebook was him and the guy for ages. You can also refer to one person as 'they'. 'They' went to the pub, 'he' went to the pub. Just like if we were in a conversation about say Modonna already, I could say "their music is shit" or I could say "her recent music is shit". You can use pluralistic pronouns despite the fact you are describing a singular noun - so sayeth the Oxford dictionary. You Sir, have been beaten at your own game.
