and BL doesn't accept paypal? WTF ... how come? I mean, I know Paypal are a bunch of cunts since they were bought by ebay but still surprises me. if it's due to BL's preference/choice then I understand, but I hope it's not because of PP not accepting BL and being ignorant twats because of 'drugs' being involved or something equally nonsense

I am pretty sure it is because bl is to do with drugs, I don't think any online payment services will let people donate to bluelight actually, well that was how it was when I last checked a few months back. If there was then I would have a standing order set up to donate a tenner a month.

I'm not joking either, I reckon tons of people actually would set up standing orders or direct debits if bluelight had a bank account and was a registered non profit organisation or a charity, would help fund the site and would help with offsite HR efforts too. I suggested it back when I was a mod but never heard too much back about the ideas because of other ongoing issues with the site such as the upgrade, etc.
 
I know paypal are sketchy, and have become even moreso since they were bought .. pornsites and stuff too .. but meh, I always thought BL had a good rep as far as drugs were concerned. due to the no sourcing and harm reduction outlook, which is pretty stringently enforced.

@ Crackers. agreed really. at least in terms of not wanting to get fucked over by paypal taking the piss and witholding funds for bullshit reasons

how else can you donate? ... has anyone looked into moneybookers or UK cash or whatever?

I'd set up a DD for £5 a month too mugz. I'm sure tons of people would donate if it was on the menu more.

there's tons of ways to generate some £ and I certainly dont mind. other forums Ive used let you donate for a custom title or whatnot.

are signatures not active for a reason btw? (c'ept for mods)
 
Last I remembered there wasn't any way to donate :\ Apparently bluelight was supporting itself with the surverys and research studies. Check out the support forum for more info though, there is normally a donation status thread in there somewhere, am sure the admins will know, not sure if any are online at the moment.

I really think the owners should set it up as a non profit organisation or a charity as that would make it much more credible in the public eye too and then the moderators could even put something on their CV that would stand up and look good as charitable work if they chose to show that they had an interest in harm reduction on their CVs that is though. It's a pretty taboo subject off the site with careers in my mind, but if the site were a real organisation or charity then I think things could only go up, I'm not sure if they have the manpower and hours needed to do something like that though.
