I am a long time NEM listener.
I have been listening to some new music lately and wanted some input on what I should check out next.
I had an aversion to electronic music for the longest time, but, I cannot ignore that electronic artists are making some killer music.
The first electronic artist that I didn’t turn off immediately was the free download of PrettyLights that came with uTorrent. I like him but it’s not mind blowing.
The artist that has blown my mind is MiM0SA. (I think that’s how he spells it?)
I literally can’t stop listening to anything of his that I can find. (58 Degrees, FFL, Hostilis, Psy. Stereo, Silver lining, Sanctuary)
So, what should I check out next?
Remember that I’m new to the scene.
I have no idea what half of the front page of this forum means.

TL;DR~I fucking love MiM0SA and want to know of some similar artist.

Thanks for the reply. I’ll be checking all of those out as soon as I get done eating in the next hour or so.

I’ve listened to a little PantyRaid. I liked the little that I heard.

Edit:I liked Minesotta, it is probably my favorite, out of the youtube links. PantyRaid is a close second.
Opiuo and MartyParty were killer too. I’ll be adding to my music collection tomorrow.

Thanks for taking the time to post.

I hope to get some more suggestions.

This is the thread you're after:

Glitch-Hop-Crunkstep-Acidcrunk

Thanks. I would have never figured that out.

Armin Van Buuren isn't anything like MiM0SA though. He's trance, MiM0SA (geez that's a pain to spell) is crunk for the most part. A bit psydub at times.

EDIT: I also really dig your avatar.

I was wondering why that guy didn’t sound anything like what I was looking for.

Craig Schwartz says, “Thank you.”

That made me laugh. I can’t tell if you’re serious, but, it’s funny either way.
i was half serious. i know a lot of people who got into dance music via more mainstream genres and ended up looking for something with more depth or meaning (for want of better terms). they all, like myself, ended up at psytrance. shishigami listed some good acts but, like soh, i would not call ott and younger brother psytrance.

OTT and Younger Brother are not psytrance, they're psydub/psybient. But they're good suggestions in terms of music.

I'm always iffy on what's called psytrance, I know that stuff like Younger Brother isn't straight psytrance or goa trance but I always kinda lump in psybient with psytrance. I guess there psy and trance like but not in the musical definition.

when you start to listen to more psytrance, you'll find that it's pretty easy to distinguish. psytrance has a rolling bass and 4/4 beat (like in house, trance, techno etc..). psybient just has the psychedelic sounds and melodies that you often hear in psytrance without the 4/4 beat and usually no rolling bass. A lot of psybient will have sort of a breakbeat, which is common in downtempo music.

psybient
Younger Brother - Happy Pills

vs

psytrance
Logic Bomb - Melogic

i actually find this to be a pretty useful resource for navigating the world of emd genres: ishkur's guide v2.5.

his definition of psytrance and the representative tracks capture it pretty well i would say.
