Opioids no withdrawal with frequent use?

I've been using heroin on and off for the last month, sometimes a week everyday before I go to sleep just cause I like the feeling of it. When I stop, I don't suffer from any of the withdrawal symptoms or flu-like symptoms that I hear about, I'm always weary of it though, always thinking shit, are the withdrawal symptoms gonna hit me tomorrow? I only insufflate, and only small amounts under 50mg. I don't crave for it, I only use it when I'm seriously bored.

Then think yourself lucky. However, don't take advantage of it or you may find withdrawals/addiction creeps up on you.

This was a lot like the first year of my using heroin. How long have you been using dope OP? Other opioids?

Over time you will begin to develop, ime, first a addictive mindset/psychological dependency on the drug (as it is a mood stabilizer/anti depressant of sorts) and then begin to notice the signs and symptoms of physical dependency. The longer you use the tougher it will get.

only using for a month only when extremely bored but still sometimes everyday for a week? either you have a fucking dull life or you're not being honest with yourself. and no it's not odd at all that you haven't got any withdrawal symptoms, my first was after a year of on off use, and mild even after two week binge's.

no cravings, no withdrawal huh? rest assured, queen b's insidious seeds have already been sown.

You either haven't been using long enough to experience withdrawal symptoms yet, or you are using too frequently to begin to feel the withdrawal symptoms. In the beginning it took 3-4 days for me to feel the withdrawals, so as long as I used at the frequency I never experienced them. It wasn't until I quit that I actually went through the withdrawals, and they actually peaked at day 5 back then. Now they peak at day 3, but that just goes to show you that you may not be out of the woods if you are using more fequently than every 4 days or so.

You're not getting a physical addiction because you're not using much and not very often. The way you are using means that your body is being cleansed of opiates each time before using again. This means that your brain is continuing to produce endorphines, which is one of the main neurotransmitters responsible for mood and physical pleasure.

These endorphines bind to the same receptors in your brain as opiates. Physical addiction occurs when you are continuously covering these receptors with opiates, and your body takes this as a sign that it no longer needs to produce endorphines as the receptors are already covered. If you then take the opiates away there's nothing to cover these receptors that are responsible for you feeling good.

I'm sure you can work it out from there.

contrary to popular belief it takes quite a bit of effort to get addicted to smack, i mean you have to take it every day for months before youl withdraw. it took me about 3 months of daily muse before it started biting back

The more times you put yourself through withdrawal the less you will need in the future to put you into withdrawals. I didnt get them even after using oxy every day for months, then after I eventually started getting WDs(noone is immune) regularly it went from needing to use for a week straight before id get WD's down to getting WD's if I used for 3 DAYS! That happened pretty quickly too, in months.

Be careful

I have no experience with other opi other than tramadol, and i've tried opium just once. For the tramadol experience I used to use it every weekend along with my weed to experience a higher high.

Thanks! I'll keep everything straight recreational and even tone it down to once a week. I want to enjoy the high responsibly and not when I'm bored now. I see it is a drug that has to be respected.

I will be extremely careful. Thanks again bluelight!

Very true. Once I had that one big kick after using for a while, it took less and less to get me to withdraw again.

I used opioids in an addictive type pattern for 4 years before I ever experienced dope sickness. Then I got on a maintenance program and experienced REAL dopesickness when I had to kick that bullshit. Quit while you're ahead.

My experience is different than this, although my degree of 'withdrawls' is quite mild compared to what I read/hear/understand other's experiences of it to be. If I use for 4-5 days in a row (typically insulfate) every 1-3 hours or so every waking hour, until the point I run out and decided to, or can not get access to, anymore. Typically I would plan on stopping because the discomfort is, well, rather uncomfortable and I assume the longer I go before stopping the more uncomfortable it will be. So for me, the 'withdrawls' I experience (if you want to conisder it that) is basically feeling like shit and not wanting to move and just stay in bed like I have the flu. I will get the sweats and feel like shit, like I've done a 16 hour shift of backbreaking work after not doing any physical labor at all for like 10 years or something. I don't vomit or get the runs or get terrible leg pains. I get mild/mooderate aches and pains all over but basically just feel like I need to stay in bed, and do so. It lasts 2-3 days.

I don't know if that's 'withdrawls' or not, but it's def pretty unpleasant and if I've been going 4-5 days straight I realize this is coming so tend to decide to make it happen then, assuming it will be worse if I keep using longer. It's NOTHING like what I see depicted on TV of someone going through withdrawls, and it doesn't seem that bad to me at all compared to the way I hear other people describe withdrawls and the loathing, to a degree of almost terror I sense from oterwhen discussing it in anticipation of it coming/wanting to avoid it at ALL COSTS, etc.

I've had flu's that have been worse but it's def something unpleasant. And it's def a reaction following the stopping of using dope after several days consecutively, as described. Although I had one friend who wouldn't want to give me any dope if he knew I used it for 2 days in a row, preaching that 'after 3 days your addicted' and I felt like he was over-reacting= ka 4 days of use wouldn't necessarilly 'put me down' in dedif I idd 3 days of use in a row. But approaching closer to a week and I know I'm going to be feeling like shit and will either need to call out of work (maybe I'm a pussy now that I'm middle aged?) so would plan it so my last dosing would be sometime on a Friday so I could ride out the weekend in bed.

Wouldn't that be considered withdrawl since it directly followed stopping dope use after a period of time (although closer to a week and often a little less, than monhts or yr, etc of daily use............) Have felt worse for other reasons as I said but this is def connected to using dope for say 5-9 days (round the clock basically) and then stopping. If not withdrawl, what?

youve been lucky with small doses and the time between doses...

id walk away now if i were you...

trust me, thats the best advice.....i didnt listen, and im still struggling 5 years later.

Well I only had withdrawals coming off tramadol. (Eventhough it's not a "real" opioid, its withdrawals are very real. Like going through opiate withdrawal and anti-depressant withdrawal at the same time.)
Oxycodone and tilidin never gave me any severe withdrawals worth mentioning. Soms stomach cramps and that was about it.
Codeine (weak, i know, but pleasant to me anyway) I can just stop and not feel ANY withdrawals.

But you're talking about heroin, so I can't say I know about that. It's a slippery slope you're on though, I'd be careful. Your luck might run out some day. Not trying to scare you, but it's not exactly a harmless drug when used frequently.

Don't fall into that trap OP.. that's that little brown fucker baiting you—setting you up for the big kick in the ass, (and it will come). Like some other posters have said, getting strung out on dope isn't an instant thing..in fact, in the beginning a lot of people can use every day for months without getting wound out. Then one day you wake up and..well..you're fucked. It's something I went through and so did every other junkie I know. It's like meeting a chick who you really like..she treats you great, it's a very casual relationship and you're glad you met her. But then.. a few months into this awesome new relationship, she invites you over to her house and BAM! All of the sudden, you're the dude from Misery..and your lovely little fling pulls a straight Annie Wilkes..
