Whatcha Drinking? v. Drunk Driver: "Don't make me stupid"

I'm off for my nightly beer or 5 on the street with the Burmese suit people who work outside my hotel. It's like a comedy show every single time. Think I'll opt for Singha beer tonight, be a bit classier and spend that every 8p on it over the cheaper, stronger, Chang.

In bed and desperately need sleep. just having a cold one of these from the bottle. found them @ Home Bargains for £1.39. bargain. never tried it before and it's bloody lovely. 5.1% too. can't believe I've only just noticed it exists. the bottle is only 500ml but one of the heaviest beer bottles I think I've ever held.

on 4 for £5, also @ home bargains. it's 5.7% and was yum

Love Pendle Witch. <3

Debating whether to go and get another Kestrel Super. Is that horrible? I think I know the answer, hence the question.

EDIT: Saved by finding a wee bit of bupe.

Marston's Old Empire is superb!!! <3 and that's a great price.

I've never heard of home depot...I'll see if there's one anywhere near here... :D

EDIT...lol, just searched, me nearest home depot is in Illinois, just realised, Home Bargains, will have a look for that one, never heard of that either....

EDIT....nearest one is 71 miles from me :( too far, even for 4 bottles old Empire for a 5er, shame

seems that most of the majors have cottoned on to the Special Brew market and produced their own versions. there's been about 4 new alts popped up in the last year that I've noticed. theyre all fucking WANK.

RESIST RESIST RESIST. I have no clue how anyone can enjoy drinking any of them. not one of the ones Ive tried (just to check out the taste vs % ) was even remotely nice. I like high strength beer, but it has to taste nice. I'd rather go for merrydown or a decent cider than drink shitty beer. if it's a cost v % decision, you can normally find a decently tasting alternative to the Special Brew ranges at a similar comparable price on offer.

Exquisite torture?

You get used to it after a while. Fond, even.

I'm drinking Martens Extra ... 'Imported Premium 7.0'

i think it's some sort of hybrid between the above discussed Special Brew clones, and a decent Belgian blonde high strength beer

I couldn't even find a pic of the can on google, strangely.

Was on special offer - £4.99 for 4 cans.

I don't like the smell of it either, altho it's not completely horrendous it didn't smell as good as the other strong Belgian beers I've been trying recently. The taste is palatable, quite alright really, but it's not nearly as nice as the other generic strong, decent Belgian brands like Duvel/Leffe etc.

I'd buy it again though, at this price

I'd enjoy a beer tasting session with you Marmalade, I'm so very not versed in such beverages but enjoy the odd one or two. The isle of Arran brewery's Sunset is very nice.

My palette all wine based - I'm enjoying a bargain bottle of Trio Reserve cabernet sauvignon shiraz from Chile, well Morrisons of Largs actually. Very fruity, booby and fusty.

had 5 bottles [!] of this with an awesome Indian meal in Bruges last month:

and these too, while waiting for the ferry: (all above 7% and all truly gloriously tasting ... and on a lovely sunny day too)

The beer you are thinking of is Kwak, I posted a picture of the beer and glass a couple of pages earlier. It is a pretty nice glass, can shoot beer all over your face if you try and drink out of it too fast though :D

just had a can of red stripe for breakfast, was warm n all, classy eh..
but its just made me more thirsty
:D i think i might get really pissed today

Just had a can of fosters in the middle of the afternoon, was my last can, tempted to go get some more now, but can't be arsed to walk to the shops. Fosters is almost like a soft drink, I actually like the taste, doesn't really taste alcoholic to me, is refreshing.

You mean to say you don't find beer (not that Foster's is real beer but that's another story) or any other alcoholic drink tasty or refreshing? 8o

If I didn't enjoy the taste then I'd give up booze completely. As it is, I've made it from Sunday till now without drinking so it's a water evening for me. I could get used to this blotch-free skin.
