Hey Bluelight

Tried asking this question over at some ADHD forums but didn't get the answer i was hoping for.
I'm a 19yr old student. Diagnosed with ADHD when i was 16, tried coping for a couple of years without medicine but decided to start treatment exactly one month ago.

I am prescribed Ritalin IR, 10mg, 3 times a day. The results have been soso. Sometimes it helps me focus, most of the time it just makes me tired and gives me a foggy brain. It calms me down but for studying it's not effective.

In a desperate attempt to make the deadline of an important paper i decided to crush a tablet and snort it. What i experienced were three hours of a calm, clear brain that had an amazing capacity to absorb and synthesise new information.

I realize snorting pills is incredibly bad so i haven't tried it again. I did try to up my Ritalin dosage and even lower my ritalin dosage but i always experience the same vague fogginess when i take Ritalin the oral route.

Can someone please explain what is going on here. Would switching to Adderall help?

Sorry to ask the obvious but have you discussed it with your doctor?

Probably not the best advice but if snorting it works better for you and your doctor isn't able to help it's not the worst ROA.

I haven't discussed it yet. My doctor is an understanding but conservative man, so i doubt discussing this with him would aid my cause. I will mention that the current dosage is ineffective.

Daily administration of snorting pills, given they are full of binders and the sensitive tissue of the inner layers of the nose, seems quite harmful though....

You are entirely correct in regards to this.

My mistake. Then unfortunately only your doctor can really be helpful. It may just be that Ritalin isnt for you.
