Let's Talk Craft Beer

I believe they just came out with the stella cans. It doesn't matter much since pretty much everybody pours it in a glass from what I have seen, so bottling it was kinda unnecessary.

just finished my 1st Bells Batch 9000 and god was it tasty. Alc % is like 13 something or other and its got a molasses type tatse to it.

My favorites are Stella, Newcastle, Guinness Stout, and Sam Adams (especially their winter ale). Is 312 sold much outside Chicago? It's real popular around here, but that might just be because Goose Island is a local company.

After two years of drinking Miller High Life, PBR, and unidentified keg beer at awful frat parties, I can't do cheap beer anymore. I love beer, and have decided that if I'm set on getting drunk, I'll do so with cheap liquor, but I'd rather actually enjoy my beer.

Fuck, if it's got booze in it, I can survive on it. Cheap or expensive, it's all useful to me.
Now I much PREFER good beer and expensive liquor, but I'm sure as hell not gonna act like I'm too good for the cheap shit.

Because I'm not.

Red labeled handle of vodka and blue and silver beer can here I come... I don't make nearly enough money to drink as much nice shit as I want. I used to try to only drink nice stuff (not even super expensive, just decent), and it got to the point where I was easily spending like $150+ a week (almost 1/2 of my paycheck at the time) and I said fuck it. Now I spend like $50 and I splurge on the weekends once in a while. No shame here...

anyone ever have Yuengling? that stuff is pretty damn good. apparently its America's oldest brewery too

Yuengling is pretty good. It's funny though because some shit went down many many years ago and they don't sell it here in CT as a result so my friends and I always stock up on it when we're going through NY. Like dozens of cases. I was at a party in Philly once (used to go down there like once a month) and i drove to go pick up the keg from the beer store as I was the only one with a car at the time. When I found out it was yuengling I got all excited and people were like "yeah it's no big deal, this shit sucks". Lol. I happen to like the stuff. And yes, they claim they're America's oldest brewery.

Yuengling Black & Tan is pretty awesome.

Lately I have been drinking Olde English mostly for sentimental purposes. I've been drinking it on these recent warm days since it's what I was drinking last year at this time with some of my college friends I haven't seen in a while.

I have done a few brew tours now. I have been to Harpoon and I'm in love with their chocolate stoudt, I am not a fan of IPA's in general but I love the Harpoons, I also really like their UFO's.

I did a tour at Magic Hat and I was pretty impressed (minus the bird I saw flying around in their bottling are *gags*). I am a big fan of their +/-, it was awesome.

I also did a tour at Long Trail, the beers were alright, wasn't a huge fan. I did like their doublebag though. I have always really liked their blackberry wheat as well, very fruity and summery.

Good god do I love Craft Beers lol

my favorite brewing co. are Dogfish Head, Bells, Stone, Founders, and i just had 3 Floyds Imperial India Pale Ale and it was over 10 bucks for a pint or 26oz but i was AMAZING. I only got it because i had a 10 dollar discount.

New ones Ive recently tried are Raging Bitch IPA, its got HST quotes and Steadman drawings on it. Was pretty good.

Bell's Hop Slam was good and packed a mean punch.

And the new Shocktop Shandy and it was meh...

Yeah, most of those flying dogs are pretty good, and I think it's cool as shit that they're a tribute to HST also. Raging bitch is a tasty one. There's only one that I don't like, I don't remember which one but if I saw it I'd know. Actually a really good company I enjoy most of their offerings. I used to find those canis major bottle caps all over my car, (I still do from time to time not that it's a project car in my driveway that's getting taken all apart) and I couldn't figure out where they were coming from until I noticed that's what the flying dog caps are.

Pff's back, that means this thread will actually move some once again!

LOL Dude you know it!! I'm such a beer whore!!

And the new Shocktop Shandy and it was meh...

I tried their pumpkin wheat this past fall and I wasn't overly impressed, too much wheat and not enough pumpkin, imo. I'm just not a big fan of shock top at all. The ones that I have tried have been that flavorful at all.

Has anyone done the Sam Adams brew tour? I'm really interested in checking it out, I think I'm going to hit that one and the Boston Harpoon brewery as well. I think that's how I'm going to be spending a great deal of this summer, just hitting up all the local breweries and microbrews. If anyone knows of any good ones in the New England area then please let me know.

"Good people drink good beer HST";)

Im not a fan of the Old Scratch amber lager of the flying dogs but the all the others are pretty damn good brews and a high %a.c=D

And I most likely wont be buying anymore Shocktop from hear on out. Tried their IPA(8)) and it was not a good experience and I was thirsty.

Been drinking a whole lotta Bell's Oberon lately yuum.

I was very disappointed in that seasonal pumpkin beer too, but I enjoy the regular Shock Top but I really like wheat beer. It's just hard to drink any other type when it's summertime because it's so damn hot here.

I absolutely love the light and fruit/citrus flavors of summer beers but honestly, I'm already missing the fall and winter darker beers. I had never been into darker beers before but I tried several this winter and I'm completely converted.

I know what you mean though, it's impossible to put anything that heavy in your stomach in the summer heat.

I think I'm going to look into some beer festivals this summer. I know of one in Vermont (near Wilmington I believe, at Mt. Snow). Does anyone know of any beer festivals on the east coast?
