Did I really raise my (opiate) tolerance THAT much?

My usual dose of hydrocodone is 17.5mg this will get me a really good buzz especially when combined with a bit of herb. I have done this amount 3 times this month, 3rd, 10th and 24th.

Last night being my birthday I decided to do some oxy...I orally took half of an A215(15mg) and after 45min of not feeling much of anything I popped a 5mg percocet. Seeing as this is equivalent to about 30mg hydro it should of rocked me. I have done oxy one other time last month at 10mg so I knew what to look for in terms of how fast it hits and feels. This time I was barely even buzzed, infact the hydro the week before gave me a better buzz. :(

The only thing different is I'm on amoxicillin right now although I hadn't taken any 4-5 hours before I took the oxy.

Oxycodone appears to be a full opiod agonist according to: http://www.drugbank.ca/drugs/DB00497

Hydrocodone is only a mu and delta agonist: http://www.drugbank.ca/drugs/DB00956

I know 30mg of oral Morphine Sulfate (also a full agonist) doesn't make me feel hardly anything, while 10mg of hydrocodone makes me feel relaxed and happy.

Could just be the different receptor action profiles, and you're used to the effects of hydrocodone rather than oxy's.

Also the addition of Kappa agonism adds a dysphoric quality to the experience:

While I agree about the two having somewhat different effects I have done oxy before so I knew what to expect. While I got next to no euphoria from it I did find myself nodding pretty hard with the help of weed and I had a massive case of the itches which I've only experienced once with hydro after taking a few weeks off.

If you get high off 17mg of hydro then you definitely should at least have felt something off the 15mg. But honestly you probably need 20-30mg of oxy to get the high you're looking for. But always remember, take it slow! Little bumps as the night progresses, you can always do more, but you can never do less.

just stick with hydros... especially if such a small dose gets you feeling that good. theres no point in using something stronger and more addictive IMO, cause before you know it youll need 80mgs of oxy to get off.

knowing what i know now about opiate addiction, i would have never used stronger pills when a dose of under 20mgs of hydro could get me off. good luck.

To be honest I don't find either addictive. When I first started using 5 months ago the hydros had a strong psychological pull but ever since I got a UTI the day after my night of usage opiates just hasn't been the same with me. That experience ended any possible mental "addiction" I had with them. If I didn't already have what I have not using again wouldn't be a problem. I'm going to take a month off and lower my tolerance again, if that don't work then screw it I'll just use them for migraines. :\

If it's a high your looking for then double the dose. Unless you are worried about becoming addicted to the stuff. Try chewing them up. It works faster. Or if you get the little oxy's you can chop then up and snort them. Now THAT'S a good high.

tolerence is a real bitch. don't overdo it or it will raise your tolerence. i can't even manage to get my tolerence down even when i take one month breaks.

Opiate tolerance is a beast. When I first started experimenting as a young teen, I would take 40-50mg of hydro to get a buzz. Eventually I found oxycodone, which in the beginning I would take 15-30mg and get good effects. Then I got into OC 40s and 80s. In the beginning 40mg was good, after a month I was using at least 80mg to feel anything. Eventually I switched to heroin because it was cheaper. I have been on suboxone for a year and half now. I relapsed last december after 5 months clean.. I hadn't touched any opiates in 5 months and my tolerance was just as high or higher than before. I had to take 90mg oxy IV to barely get a buzz.. I hadn't used any suboxone in 5 days prior and still my tolerance was crazy.. Went thru 6 x 30mg roxi's IV and still didn't get where I wanted to go.. I am afraid my tolerance is still at a similar level now because I continue to take suboxone which keeps my tolerance the same.. I know if I take a year or two off I can maybe get a good effect off 60-90mg oxycodone but I know that will only be for the first couple times, then my tolerances will skyrocket to how it was before and then some.. Addiction is a progressive disease and opiates are the most addictive drugs I've fallen into..

^Buprenorphine will jack your tolerance higher than the actual heroin will..

Opiates tend to build tolerance at an incredible rate, like benzos, and do not really drop at all. The tolerance might have dropped a bit, but after about three consecutive doses, you're right back to your old tolerance. I've read on Bluelight about people normally using 10-15mg of hydro, then just doing 30-35mg just one night, and ever since then, they don't get the same high off of those 2-3 Vicodins as they used to.

Opiate tolerance to the recreational effects builds at a straight up ridiculous rate, which is why I loved cannabis as my drug of choice. You can take a single day break from smoking weed, and your tolerance drops so much, and as long as you don't binge smoke again, you're good to go with a nice, low tolerance.

People should not use opiates to get high off of, since it will only lead you to harder and harder opiates. See, you already tried Oxycodone since it was your birthday and wanted to get that old opiate feeling back. What happens when those little, blue A215's don't cut it anymore?

It wasn't my first time trying oxy just my first time trying oxy without tylenol in it. But to answer your question about the blues...I take a break, I haven't touched an opiate since my birthday. Tomorrow will end my 5 week break and I'm going to do my usual hydro dose then in 2-3 weeks I'll give oxy another shot, hopefully it'll give better results.

THIS.

I started off getting buzzed off 20mg's oxy and now I'm taking ~100-120mg's/day and need a dose between 60-80mg's to feel anything at all.

Well after my 5 week break my normal dose of 17.5mg hydro had me feeling great although I no longer get the "pins" like I usually do after a break so my tolerance was definitely raised and I didn't get the itches on the comedown but a great night none the less.

That's the way to do it, man, you gotta make the best of the situation, always. You shouldn't try to chase those first highs that will never come back, doing so is going to get you to the end of the road quick. Glad you had a good time. :)

I was never really chasing the high just noting the differences from then and now. As long as I have the remainder of my hydro script(s) left which is quite a lot for no more than I do the dose will remain the same and I'm definitely going back to only twice a month to keep the effects good. :)

If you can keep the intake to 2 or 3 times a month, you've done well..........lots of people have done this for years, it takes will power & can be done. Can people enjoy opiates for years on end & live a productive life? Of course they can, gotta have that self control but what happens when you want to quit 20 years down the road? Eventually its cold turkey or rehab...........
