Lenny Kravitz - dude, he's playing in Brisbane tonight, my mate is going... jealous....

For the last few months this has been everywhere. My drummer buddy was obsessing over it tonight. I have two observations, the first everyone agrees: this guy sounds like Sting. The second is more contentious: I pick up psychedelic melodies/themes in the song. However, I'm not a (good) musician, so I can't quite articulate it, especially over the web. I try to keep it punk rock (whatever that means [and on the real I listen to most genres I know]), but I do like this song. The Kimbra vocals add too much pop for my liking though, although she does look like a vixen in the video.

Edit: people don't contend over my perception concerning psychedelic undertones; they disagree over their presence in the song overall. It was essential I clarified.

I've never liked Lenny Kravitz's music much, but I have to respect his will power: he abstained from sex (and I think masturbation) for three years. I'm impressed when someone I personally know accomplishes a month's deprivation. But moreover, the guy is a famous rock star, and we all know how that generally goes. Strength.
