I'm not clicking that, then, I still get flashbacks to that horrible Krokodil film from time to time. I've got one of my wisdom teeth with grey tatters of flesh hanging off it in a jar of pink fluid on the mantelpiece. It's been there for five years now I think, I don't really know what to do with it.

edit: play it this song maybe.

I can't click on that link either. I have a squeezing spots problem. watching boils n squirty things being lanced can get quite addictive.

I had a tooth abscess once and the whole side of my face changed shape. not very impressive and took 2 weeks of antibiotics before it disappeared

I had an abscess in my arse once. In and out same day op. Sorted :)

The first time I got one I had to sit in a hospital bed nil by mouth for 3 days. They didn't even set up a drip for 2 of those days, and it was the height of summer! Then they forgot to feed me after the op so I didn't eat for 4 days lol. Was yours on your arse cheek on right on the hole?

Try having an abscess in your face and an aversion to seeking medical help of any kind.

Still, two-and-a-half days, magnesium sulphate paste, dressings, a few bottles of whisky and a lot of DHC saw me through. At least until I had to go out after not having eaten for that whole period and ended up collapsing in the takeaway.

Not recommended for everybody, btw. Though I do have a semi-impressive scar, which I'm informed that the 'chicks' will 'dig'.

Right here go here's the story.
I used to be very shy and got worms once. I was too embarrassed to do anything about it and scratched mg arse hole to bits. So due to the self inflicted damage it infected just inside causing a large abscess.
It wasn't till it exploded in my bed while I went to hell and back in pain that I got it sorted.
There's a moral here children

^It does seem like we've all put off going to hospital for way too long with abscesses!

What does the mag sulph actually do to the abscess? Bring it out, make it grow, or what?

I think it draws out the pus although I don't know the mechanism. Osmosis maybe? It's quite effective, though, my big toe once resembled an overripe tomato and 24 hours of enclosure in a bandage with a few scoops of MgSO4 got it back to normal.

Good luck :) Abscesses are such fuckers, I have met more than a few women who have told me they can be worse than child birth. Let us know how much better you feel when you get out!

Yeah, the pain was unbelievable, like nothing i've experienced before.

I'm home now, and watching The Budget news on BBC TWO to see what the Chancellor has done to the country. I have to say though, I couldn't have been treated faster even if I'd gone private. Went to A&E last night, was seen within 15 minutes, put on emergency list for operation today, turned up at 7.30am, was out of operating theater by 9.30am. Nurses and Doctors were brilliant, couldn't thank them enough. I don't think my awful Doctors surgery is going to manage the after-care the same way though.

I feel AMAZING. They've scraped out and left an open wound as deep as half a golf ball, that's packed with gauze. But I can walk with no pressure and without a limp for the first time in three weeks. When I woke up I didn't know where I was. Then they gave me IV Fentanyl, then some Tramadol, then codiene as nothing was easing the pain. Thank god that's over and done with! Now i've only got an open wound to deal with.

Brilliant! It might be quicker for me to come down to Bristol to get my abscesses sorted out in the future! If you ring the doctors surgery they will give you the number of some district nurses who will come out and pack the wound for you every day, if you didn't want to do it yourself. I think they have to heal from the inside out, to stop them becoming abscesses again.

A sense of false niceness? I have never been on a more conflicting and argumentative forum in my entire life. There is more beef on BL than in my local butchers.

Ohh believe me this is tame, I can drop you a website for free parties I still frequent from time to time that is pretty much unmoderated, ikt makes BL look like Barbie and Ken's house :D

Yeah, I just have to go to my local doctors tomorrow. There's now way i'm packing it myself, it's a gaping hole very deep and very wide, I feel sick at the thought!

Apparently there was LOADS of puss, mmmmm om nom nom.

Straight out of hospital, and walked straight to my dealer. Who was actually very concerned for me when he saw the bruise left from the canular.

The nurse joked she should have just left it in for me to avoid me getting another abscess. Har har.

Oh my DAYS!!!!! I had something that colour running down my leg when I got up to try and get dressed too soon and must have re-opened it. I'm scared of the wound they've left.

Nah, it just is open. It will probably ooze onto your bandages for a few more days to come. The packing absolutely stinks after just a day, and you'll be pulling faces like the Jim Carey gif above lol. The wound will be fine as long as they irrigate it properly before packing it.
