Psychedelic Collectors

Hunter S had the right idea. I've noticed lots of avid psychedelic users tend to refer to their substances as their "collection" rather than their "stash", which seems is more commonly used to refer to drugs like coke, hop, ect.

Do you think the prevalence of psychedelic collectors is because of what is detailed in fear and loathing?

Psychedelics tend to be more of a special occasion for me than I wish they were, do you think that's why collecting seems more common? Because people aren't going through whole grams of 2Cs and multi mg dosages of LSD at a time?

Do you have a psychedelic collection? (NOT asking for any specifics, if yes let's just assume its all legal) If so, how long have you had it and what made you want to start it rather than just buying an amout for one or two uses.

I can anticipate most of the answers to my immediate questions, so instead of taking them at face value and just answering with a few words, try to think outside the box with your answers.
 
I have access to a lot of various substances. I leave it at that though. If i want it ill think about getting it. If i have a big collection of psychedelics i'm preoccupied with the thought of doing them all of the time. Honestly it might be tough for me to have a collection of those things id eat it all or share it all with groups of people to have the experience. Its not doing any good on a shelf! And if im using them that much I end up an odd dude for a while!

I always try to have tons of herb though lol. I am a cannabis collector! I love hash, and hash oil. Ill always try to have a variety of strains and products of those different strains on hand.
 
I just recently started building my collection. I've always been a big collector. Collected legos as a kid, then got into nice knives and dabbled in watches. So to me, this kind of goes into that whole life-long love of collecting. The main reason I started my collection was so that I had a plethora to choose from which makes the occasions that I use much more special as I have the resources to pick the perfect chemical for the night. Also it's nice knowing that, for the legal things I have, if they were ever made illegal then i would have some put away for myself. Gonzo definitely gave me some motivation when I started collecting =D
 
I used to collect a few years ago but it kind of fell out of interest when the library ran dry. Recently though in the past few months, I have been revitalized by the range of availability of substances. substances i would have never been able to get a hold of only a few years ago (07/08/09) are widely available. I like to have options and I am honestly really really interested in defining the differences between the substances. I think of it as a library because it is pretty extensive. I collect a range of phens and tryps and was into collecting amphetamines but i stopped that almost immediately. I love having a range of things.

Like 2c-i is definitely for a different occasion than DPT or DIPT. There are some loose ends, but for the most part I have been able to acquire everything Ive ever dreamed of trying.
 
The way the scene is going, many of the chemicals I never thought I'd see are materializing everyday. It makes blowing an entire tax return on chemicals VERY tempting...fuck me.
 
I figure if I stock up well enough now, I should theoretically be trip ready til I'm 45 or so. MXE is going to be the psychedelic scenes new LSD, mark my words. MXE will be the new drug gold-standard.

Yes haha. I've recently actually misplaced my 2c-b in a very distant place, away from the rest of my psys. Decided to stick with 100% legal psy's from now on, as there's too many available not to. Not into anything other than pure psychedelics really, maybe with some stimulant effects thrown in for good measure.. Or pure empathogens with little stimulation. 2c-b really is a favorite for me.. Wish it were more widespread/unscheduled as its incredibly useful for sacramental purposes. Blessed holy love is all I've felt from it directly, perhaps a moment of negativity which I myself pushed into the experience inadvertently.

It really is beautiful that those who need something are still able to find it peaceably, in spite of those who would wish to condemn us as savage fiend users. 2c-b came into my life at the perfect time, and has left its message to me in a very distinct and resolved way.
 
Things are pretty easy to get, cheap, and most last a very long time if stored correctly. Why not?
 
Every now and then I used to build up a 'collection' of chems, mainly E and blotters, sometimes some amphetamines thrown in.

All it would take is one mad night with a bunch of mates from the 'ol skool'...... collection all gone.

I do the same with craft beer. Mates show up...... collection gone.

This seems highly unlikely!
 
Psychedelics certainly seem to be the only class of drug that lends itself to any kind of collection. As noted above, a beer collection disappears when you look at it; a stimulant collection will somehow transmute itself into a binge week and lost job; an opiate collection will probably end in overdose and death. But since the real beauty of a psychedelic trip is the strange things done and sights seen while on the journey and reintegration; it's not really about chasing a high. In fact I feel just fine reminiscing about past trips without planning one in the future. But just thinking about beer makes me wish there was a cold one in my hand right now.

LSD itself can be found on beautiful artwork that begs to be collected instead of eaten.
Novel drugs like 2C-X even have a "designer's notes" book to go with them!
Mushrooms or other natural sources of drugs may be preserved indefinitely as "botanical specimens".

Damn, now you make me want to get some blotter art to display on the wall. :P
 
Personally I don't really like the whole fear and loathing attitude, after all it is called fear and loathing not happiness and love in las vegas! I'm much more inspired by Pihkal and Tihkal to collect than any Hunter S Thompson book. Learning about the chemistry and experiencing the subjective effects is amazing to me. It is great to have the perfect chemical of the perfect quality and duration for any occasion and be able to mix and match at will, but it can also make it easy to trip all the time and lose the magic! Although it's also nice to get chemicals from semi-legal labs than right of the street. Recently I've been getting a little tired of such a huge variety though and feel like I might want to go back to just mushrooms and cacti, the ancient tried and true.

P.S. MXE will never be the new LSD, if you think it will I bet you've been doing alot of it latley ;)
 
At the end of HS, beginning of uni I started a sexy phenethylamine collection of massive proportions before I realized I was off my rocker and needed to disseminate the shit before something bad happened. I am a pharmacist at heart, I love to have every which kind of drug at hand, recreational or not. I'm reasonably intelligent and can control my stash but lately I've been taking it easy.

Life isn't a fucking pokedex, no need to collect them all. The knowledge will always be there, the classics will always be available. Nothing can prevent chemistry from taking its course. Hoarding a suitcase full of dazzly uppers downers screamers and laughers looks cool and strokes the ego but there's really no need for it. The only result is tragic accidents or legal fuckrams.

EDIT: my advice is and will always be to look towards the tryptamines young psychewalker. They are not fun, party drugs. But they are grounded and healing. phenethylamines are nothing but candy.
