Is It Just Me or Does Codeine Suck??

I've taken 13 x 60mg pills, so 780mg of codeine and I swear to god my pupils are perfect. I mean I got nothing. I went into the bathroom, stared at the mirror and flicked the light on and off a few times, and my pupils responded instantly. I mean every drug is subjective so to say I am not getting any pain relief is one thing, but pupil dilation should be a pretty objective test of an opiates effects correct? :?

Edit: I use dilaion as a general reference to pupil size, in other words they are dilating and constricting normally, rather than the pin points I'd get from Oxy.

Some people are immune to codeine effects completely. You may be part of the bad luck guys. Besides, it's not pupil dilation but constriction opiates give.
 
Codeine is weak and unfavorable to those of us that consistently use opiates or have high tolerances, especially recreationally.

If your codeine prep contains promethazine or some type of sedative antihistamine that can be the cause of normal sized (or dilated IME) pupils. That could balance out the opi eye constriction referred to as miosis i think.
 
There is a percentage of the population without the ability to metaolize codeine properly, and so it does not really have much of any effect on them. Some just metabolize it poorly. It varies. BTW, not all opioids cause pupil constriction at all doses, IIRC meperidine/pethidine can cause pupil dilation as can some others, I think. In cases of overdose, pupil dilation is not uncommnon regardless of the opioid.
 
No, it's not just you, codeine sucks :p

however, I find that it adds a very nice euphoric edge to a weed high.
 
It was a very delayed reaction, but it eventually kicked in. All it is doing is sedating me (and I admit killing the pain pretty well) but it's also making me itch like crazy and my hands and arms are pretty swollen. My pupils are constricted now but my eyes are puffy. Better than nothing I guess but far from great.

You said you prefer oxy. What is your tolerance to oxy? As 780mg codeine doesn't convert to a great deal of oxy, only 78 mgs.
 
Codeine itself does nothing for you really...it was the original pro-drug...it metabolizes into morphine and that's what gives it it's effects...
 
If you have any kind of tolerance to other opiates than codeine will do nothing for you, it's pretty much the weakest opiate that there is. It's also the same for me with the itching, if I want to get any kind of high from codeine these days I also have to put up loads of itchiness which can get really irritating when I'm trying to enjoy the weak buzz I get from it.

I could have sworn I read that, that was how codeine has it's effects...

I am right about the pro-drug (a drug that does nothing, but it's metabolites are active) though, right?
 
No, it does metabolize into morphine, but that is not the sole reason for its analgesia is what I meant. This is also why the ceiling effect is not 100% true as that is only for how much codeine can metabolize into morphine at any one time.
 
I will refuse to believe codeine sucks. Hummph! Very fine opiate... for those who metabolize it well. ;)
 
Last going off I had tapered down to 20mgs of oxy and I could feel a slight buzz... 40mgs got me a good nod. But I have to say, it took almost an hour but eventually the codeine did kick in pretty good. It just left me really dull. More out of it. I definitely would not call it euphoric. But I think I had an allergic reaction to it. My sister is very allergic to codeine. Although I have dosed up to 400mgs of oxy at a time without any problems, and the anesthesiologist I spoke with told me if you were allergic to codeine you'd also be allergic to codones. I had two pharmacists tell me the same thing...

oxycodone will give you a cleaner and more pronounced high than heroin, whether or not it takes more volume in pill powder as compared to heroin or not, and in most cases, Oxycodone will produce more euphoria, at a lower dosage. This is generally accepted by a lot of opiate users in my area, including myself. (and we are all very much true addicts. I would choose to smoke a 30mg perc over blowing 2 bags of dope any day. (oxycodone 30 will take away my withdrawal symptoms more efficiently than two bags of heroin, and will also produce less of a "hangover" aka "insta-withdrawal" the next morn. However, heroin's half-life MAY be a bit longer... (albeit, sacrificing an hour of WD free morning for a less pronounced, less euphoric high tonight, does not tickle me fanny) (These also are all depending on the quality of the dope) which can end up producing "afterglow" aka lingering positive effect, prior to the "insta-wd's" of the next morning. (In my personal experience) PS. In the effect of harm reduction, smoking any pill is stupid and, unless your already a hopelessly addicted teenager or young adult with no life and no savings/hope for a life, don't be resorting to smoke a perc 30 over 2 bags of dope. Just get the dope, blow it as per usual, and enjoy yourself. Smoking pills = Smoking filler = lung harm = future lung problems, serious disease, cancer, and/or psunomia, which, you don't want, trust me, it killed my father in law.

On the topic of codeine- Everyone here is right, codeine does suck. (NOT like a GOOD hooker, NOT like a nasty whore either, unfortunately) Noo, codeine is more/less the annoying cousin that bothers everyones kids and was caught touching em'self in the kitchen pantry last christmas, so no one wants their kids around em. Gross. No one wants that shit. I mean, it will take away WD's but, its a last resort. Tip: I have read several times that codeine has a "ceiling effect" at 400mg. This basically means that generally, it don't matter how many more milligrams you take after you have already taken 400 milligrams, because after 400mg, you CAN'T boost the high. You CANNOT boost a drug past its ceiling effect amount in 24 hours. Its impossible. For whatever reason, (I was told many times and various forums) codeine's ceiling effect is @400mg. Take it or leave it, but I would take it. (well..not more than 400mg of "it" :P) I'm surprised this didn't come up yet? Weird.

So, 1. don't take more than 400mg in 24 hours or you'll waste your fucking codeine. 2. DO use codeine to boost other opiates, assuming you have tolerance. 3. if you believe you'd be having a better time if you weren't itchy, then don't be afraid to take some diphenhydromein, mein. (Bennadryl) Opiates release histamine into your blood stream and this causes your skin to feel like there are bugs that crawl inside it, this, and just general itchiness man. It is unpleasant to a new user, but experienced junkies find itching to be the coop de graw(gnaw, heee-he) of the night. (we take our designated ass brush, and go to WORK on our asses, crotches, heads, and, the back of the thys and knees of course.. But, the ASS scratch is the holy grail.. It feels like heaven when your coming up off a good nod) Uhh where was I? Idk. Fuck it I've been pullin this whole thing out my opiated ass this whole time anyways, I'll just keep ranting and hopefully hit what I wanted to say.. NAH MEIN? (lol who caught that? no one? cmonnnnn??)

Yeh, codeine, shit blows. But, don't blow it. Not worth it. Gross, If its codeine, nad its got tylenol in it (AKA Tylenol 3's 4's, 6's, whateva whateva i'll do what i want?) do a CWE. Its a defined, long, long, dark road. You can't see the end of it, but its there. (since drugs are just, interesting, and fun to learn about, experiment with, feel, use, abuse, they are just plain neat to me.. so..) Dope is COOL, but your a FOOL.
