Opioids Opium Tea, how addictive is it?

I was wondering how addictive opium was, although I fully realise that it's not a question that has a simple answer and it is subjective but I still wanted your opinions. I have a chance to try some this weekend, I intend to only try it once and its relatively difficult for me to get, so I won't have the temptation of it always being easy to acquire, although not completely impossible. Thus far my entire use of drugs was of ones for which addiction wasn't really a problem, the most addictive substances I've tried are valium, alcohol, tobacco and ritalin I suppose.

I'm reasonably strong willed at least compared to people I know. With things like lsd and mdma I have a once a month policy that I don't break and unlike loads of people I know I didn't have a compulsion to do more mdma the first couple of times I tried it. I would fully trust myself to try cocaine or amphetamines without there being a problem, but seeing as I dont know anybody who's tried opium (unlike the other two) and the fact that it conjures up the images of opium dens and heroin addicts is making my slightly unsure. I've never had a problem taking month long breaks from cannabis and with tobacco the only cravings I have are when I'm drunk and what to get stoned but can't.

Realistically do you think I'm at risk of becoming addicted? I don't think I am, but its always better to be safe than sorry. What do people who've actually tried it/do it on a regular basis think?

The risks of becoming addicted to opium tea/ppt is VERY HIGH. Whether or not you become addicted depends on two main factors: 1) how often you use it and 2) how much you use at a time. Will power doesn't really factor in at all, and if it does it's not a very significant determinant as to whether you will become addicted to it. Frankly, I find PPT just as addicting as oxycodone and heroin. It is more addicting, in my opinion, than hydrocodone or codeine.

How often have you used/have you used opium tea/ppt?

(Next time try to break your post up into paragraphs so it is easier on the eyes for us to read. Thx)

Just as addictive as any form of opium, and opiates in general. It's also A LOT easier to OD on oral consumption of opiates, especially in a form like this. There is essentially no way to know your dose, and the highs/lows of your metabolic rate while abusing said substance, along with what you have and haven't been eating, will play a role in your downfall.

That being said, it's quite honestly my favorite way to get a nod. Lasts very long too.

Yea, I used to LOVE PPT. But, then again, because of all the alkaloids in it you're getting high from, when you detox it's pretty painful. As I've said before, I'd rather have to detox from a really bad dope habit than from PPT again.

Easily. Heroin withdrawals don't even last that long.
I used to actually EAT poppy pods, and chase them with water. I was snacking on the all the time. Ended up OD'ing this way and waking up in the ER. It also really fucked with my bowels. Completely clogged them up worse than methadone, because of all the plant material + alkaloids.

I wonder if you can get thebaine poisoning from PPT.

What's PPT? I haven't used any opioid at all before, but I don't intend to be doing this more than once and my only source is from someone who lives like a 3 hour train ride away from me and who in turn can't get it very easily, so even if I wanted to, the next time I'll get to do it realistically will be in in about a months time.

If you have never touched opiates before i would reccomend not using opium tea, experienced users can OD on that never mind someone who has never used! Why not try codeine???

poppy tea is awesomely addictive. like dex i used to eat the pods whole only i never increased my dose. i was in college and after first trying PST the next day i was still nodding (accidental!) and in lecture my prof said daily use of oral morphine w/out increasing the dose produced sufficiently pain-killing effects while not increasing tolerance. and for 1.5 years i ate 1-1.5 (jumbo) pods every morning without EVER increasing the dose and managed to maintain. it was only when i went back to the tea (starting only on weekends then spillin over into mondays, tuesdays, etc) & went to stronger opioids that things got hairy.

if you're after the rush (which is what ALWAYS happens - don't think you're different) you'll fall into the spiral. my advice is, buy a certain amount and have someone keep them for you, not giving you more no matter what except for once or twice a month (if you HAVE to be doin 'em that is). otherwise be fuckin careful and don't think you're different!

Poppy tea/opium tea is equally as addictive as taking oral morphine. So very addictive.

I was have been addicted to it off and on for going on 5 years...

Personally speaking, I am heavy user of methamphetamine and MDPV, I shoot hydromorphone from vials, and tbh, poppy tea is just as addictive, if not more so, than methamphetamine or hydromorphone to me.

Poppy tea gave me one of my top 5 "oh shit, maybe I should goto the hospital" opiate highs. I think that since it takes such a long time to peak, this makes it somewhat easier to OD on. A person that is new to it may re-dose too soon since they aren't used to how long it takes to peak, and experienced people may even re-dose too quickly if they don't wait long enough to re-dose and they haven't properly gauged the strength of the new batch.
