so i found 10 5mg/325mg percs today in a cabinet. they've been expired for about a year. this would be my first time taking oxycodone and i just wanted to know how much for the first time do you think i should take? considering it's been mixed with so much tylenol.
i'm not really looking for a mind-blowing trip just something mild that will make me sleep and forget some stuff...

thoughts?

I'd try just 5mg to start then. That's a very low dose, but it's best to work your way up like that so you can judge your own tolerance. Give it about half an hour to kick in, if you still ain't feeling much, take another 5mg.

I wouldn't recommend eating more than about 1.5g APAP in one sitting, so at higher doses, you'll have to do a CWE to get it out. Check out the megathread here.

thanks!
also, do you think combining it with diphenhydramine (benadryl) would be too much for a first time?

Eh, normally I would't advise mixing if it's your first time, but antihistamines are relatively benign and can help deal with a lot of the side effects. So a small dose (25-50mg) taken about half an hour before you drop the oxy would be fine.

I would suggest not mixing it at all. Keep in mind I do believe it loses potency after it's expired. Not sure about that though. I wouldn't suggest mixing percs or any pain killer with anything. Except for Mary j IMO. Good luck. Be careful. personally I think benadryl would ruin the buzz.

I don't think they lose potency, especially after only a year. All prescriptions automatically put an expiration date of one year after being filled, so it's more of a formality I believe.

I wouldn't suggest mixing for your first time. I assume you are opiate-naive or virtually opiate-naive, so I would suggest 10 mg for a nice and good opiate high. Don't just go to sleep, enjoy the high, it is magical. No joke.

Some people get sick from 10mg, so it's easier to just start low to be safe. A high isn't enjoyable if your face is in the toilet.

This; and honestly - I can feel a single one of my 7.5mg vicoprofins (hydrocodone) which is equivalent to about 5mg of oxy. Weed helps. :)

OP - nAON knows what's up.

5mg won't do a thing. Start with 10mg, and see how you feel. I'd recommend eating 7 or 8 Ritz crackers beforehand, just to have something in you're stomach. Wait 3 hours after a full meal before taking them, otherwise it will dull the high. Drink plenty of water, and wait at least 30 minutes before redosing.

I know this is a harm reduction site, but 5mg won't do a damn thing. Ten Milligrams will not make you sick, even if you have no opiate tolerance. This is why I recommend eating a few crackers before ingesting the full 10mg, it will keep you from getting sick. And like I said before, drink plenty of water.

^ Sorry, but I'm not opiate naive in any sense, and definitely DO feel 5mg of oxy, either insufflated or taken orally. 10mg could make someone that's allergic or hyper-sensitive quite sick. Heck, if they're allergic 5mg would be bad..

note: not saying I feel 5mg when I have a built up tolerance, that is...

I hate to disagree with so many people here whose opinions I respect, but honestly, I don't think that five milligrams would do very much either. It's not what I would consider to be a first-timer's average recreational dose. I would recommend ten milligrams, but this is a harm reduction website and so testing the waters, so to speak, by dosing just five milligrams would be the smart thing to do.

You'll likely need to re-dose, but it's no big deal. Take the five milligrams and, half an hour later, if you're still not where you think you should be, then go ahead and take another five milligrams.

Try paying close attention to all of the sometimes subtle physiological changes; I know that my first time taking oxycodone was a disappointing experience and one that was nearly lost on me. I expected the high to be more noticeable, and it wasn't, and I know now that the itching, the nodding... this is what one comes to expect when dosing opiates. It's not at all like other drugs where one's perspective changes so drastically; it's a more subtle high...

EDIT: I know that percocet does come in 2.5 mg as well, but I've never heard of a doctor prescribing it. So, I guess that my thinking, my reasoning, is that if a doctor would typically prescribe 5 mg oxycodone for some small ache or pain, then it's not exactly a first-timer's recreational dose; a first timer's recreational dose would be just a wee-bit larger.

No worries mate - they're opinions for a reason and yours is respected all the same. :)
