Going on 7 years, Wilma was in 2005 the year after 97850645 hurricanes hit S Florida in a span of like 3 months. I have a lot of good/bad memories from that year, not the least of which is learning to play poker.

Well god damn. I had no idea it's been that long. I don't know if that makes me feel better or worse. LOL But yeah, that's why it kinda sucks and why I can't get through the 5th book. I don't remember a lot of it.

Congrats. That's one of the theories behind the "younger, more beautiful queen." GRRM's prophecies often turn out in ways that aren't well expected.

The fanbase contenders for the younger queen is Margaery, Dany, or Sansa (Sansa is mostly the dark horse in this). YMMV.

Consider this: Sansa, with her remark to the Queen of Thorns, did set in motion the murder of Cersei's first child, which lead to her blaming Tyrion, and then Tyrion murdering his father, which more or less gave Cersei enough rope to hang herself. So Sansa already has worked towards that end. Where Margaery has, more or less, tried to prop up the monarchy and seems more or less content with Cersei being mother of the king.

Speculation is that Sansa marries Aegon, somehow. They're currently far apart, but Littlefinger has his games. Too bad Aegon is Varys's pawn, not Littlefinger, which makes such a match a little more difficult. But Aegon needs a bride sooner or later (assuming he doesn't bite the dust, which is a pretty big assumption for ASoI&F, especially since contenders for the crown need to be thinned). A queen from the north wouldn't be that bad, except that the North is currently throwing itself behind Stannis. (Assuming Stannis survives book #6 - else it's less of a problem.) OTOH, I can see Aegon taking a Dornish bride. After all, the Prince of Dorne was keen to marry his daughter off to one Targaryen, why not another? But I'd have to look up and see if the Prince of Dorne's daughter is considered beautiful.

I think at this point, Margaery being the younger queen is more or less so obvious that fans reject it.

Oh, and by the way, speaking of prophecies, the fan favorite for Valonqar is Jamie, not Tyrion. After all, he's also younger than Cersei.

THREE MOAR WEEKS!

I'm gonna make it a goal to finish book 5 before then. I heard some hardcore shit happens in the second half that I don't want to miss.

Book two was so freakin awesome, and since I don't remember most of it, I am so excited for this season.

I hated Sansa in the first book, but book 4 and 3 (I think) painted her in a much better light, so I am her fan now. Tyrion is my favorite character still. He is just so sarcastic and witty that I hope he takes over at some point. He actually has a heart too.

I just got the Season 1 box set. I wondered why episode 8 was so much fucking better than the rest. I found out it was the one that was actually written by G.R.R. Martin. HBO did a really kick ass job with their John Adams, but they fucked this one up I think. It's really nice when it's not so pervy and vulgar and has more substance and better dialogue in it. Too bad I didn't read the books first.

And before you all get in an uproar, I just don't think it's that interesting watching other people pretend to fuck (or really fuck either). I wish they would expand a bit more of the more important background and plot details they are trying to cram in between the sex scenes.

Is it because of Kysha and trying to find her aka "Where do whores go?" I remember that his father had her raped and through the first books we're made to believe that she never loved him and then we find out that she really did and (if I remember correctly) refused the money that Tywin offered her.

I just went through 4-5 chapters in book 5 on my Kindle. I'm really digging the Kindle. Unfortunately, I don't remember much of the first half, because it was almost painful to get through. lol Second half is awesome though.

Well, there is a lot more of it. lol The book can get really vulgar in parts of it. Rape, treating women like objects, having your help finger wives, general stuff you'd think of that would happen in the dark ages. There is a lot more whoring and fucking to come. lol It's not too bad, but parts of it make me cringe, that's for sure, but it's part of drawing you in (pushing your buttons and all that).

It's not most of it, don't get me wrong, but there is a lot of sex in the books and it's not the romantic love stuff. I can't remember much of book two other than key parts and lots of what I remember is a blur between book 2 and 3, but I can tell you to expect gore, sex, rape and fighting. Even if the sex part turns you off, it's still an amazing book and it's not a majority of that stuff. He basically puts magic into basic human nature from the dark ages. I liken it to being a dark ages book where the magic is real instead of it being fairy tales in RL.

But really, they are trying to cram a lot into the series without giving good introductions and explanations to background info - and there is a lot of background info to deal with. I don't regret buying it though. $30 is never bad for 600min. of entertainment without commercial interuptions.

Read the books, man--they explain things that the series only touches on, if at all. The series necessarily takes a "Just the facts, ma'am" approach, but there is so much stuff in that universe that you can pick up things you never noticed before with each reading. Not to mention that A Clash of Kings and A Storm of Swords are among the best books I've ever read in any genre. I have to say, I almost envy the people who haven't read the books, because they won't see anything coming the next two seasons.

I know he's considered the modern day LOTR writer, but I don't see the comparison TBH. The books don't seem LOTRish to me. I read the LOTR books, and it's nothing like GoT to me.
