Im at home having an extremely anxious/restless/Depressed evening.

I have taken Some Diazepam and also some Etizolam, i wont mention the doses because it may give some of you a heart attack! =D (And those who know me know my tolerance)

I also have some Tramadol which im thinking about taking as in the past this has most definately helped my depression in the short term and on the odd occassion made me feel quite nice.

I usually dose 400mg Tramadol in one dose... I havent touched any Opiates in over 2 weeks.

Thoughts please?

I hear Tramadol is better taken in increments rather than the whole dose in one go.

All replies appreciated,thanks.

It is definitely better to space dosing of Tramadol - this allows the metabolite o-desmethyl-tramadol to form more readily than in an "all in one go" dose. The O-D-T is what's responsible for the opioid effect. Tramadol is like 5000x weaker than Morphine, but ODT is 600x more potent (according to my memory of wikipedia haha).

I know you're on a huge dose of benzos, so all I can say is tread lightly. I'd be wary of the e-tiz with the Tram just because Tram is a "weird one" and I didn't personally feel comfortable enough to do any RC while it was in me.

Cheers!

Oh, and the short term depression reprieve is due to the SNRI sub-profile that Tramadol has (and makes it so anything serotonergic is potentially lethal..).

So how often would you space out the Tramadol dosing?

50mg? 100mg? ever 30mins? or 1hour?

Im on an SNRI - Venlafaxine ER 150mg per day which doesnt help me one bit.

Ive taken Tramadol whist ive been on this medication before.

Is it a dangerous combo?

it is actually safer to take tramadol, xanax, and etizolam than to take tramadol alone. xanax and especially etizolam will raise your seizure threshold. this doesnt mean go overboard with the tramadol, i still wouldnt exceed 300-350mgs.

Im sorry i should know better than to be adding Tramadol into the mix as im already on an SNRI (Venlafaxine) and there is a small possibility of adverse effects (Serotonin Syndrome)

Besides im not really a fan of Tramadol as Drugs go! Due to its unpredictable effects (Ive felt nice and Opiated before at times and then other times its almost felt like ive taken a stimulant!)

But as i was consuming Benzos last night my Drug seeking behaviour takes over :(

Im sure many can relate to this.

Tramadol isn't so much unpredictable as it is dependent on your intake of it as well as tolerance to similar drugs at the time (opioids). If you have an oxycodone habit - you're only going to feel the SNRI effect of Tramadol.

Yes, mixing Tram with another SSRI / SNRI is dangerous - and potentially fatal. Don't do it (however, yeah, I totally understand the drug-seeking bit..).

I would take 50-100mg to start, and then re-dose every 90min until I reached 300-350mg and then take no more. Usually about 3-4 hours later after a few meals I'd feel VERY opiated (at least in comparison to anything else regarding use / intake of this drug).
