dihydrocodeine (DHC 120), side effects, headaches and 'lumpy' tattoos.

hiya,

been using df's to avoid the gear, but having strange side effects. am not usually a sufferer of headaches, but been getting kind of tension/sinusy type headaches at the front top of my head, anybody else had similar?

also, the tattoo on the top of my arm (others unaffected) feels kind of achey, strange and lumpy to the touch, have a feeling i heard somebody mention similar before but why should this be?

i've just skimmed through nine pages of dihydrocodeine results and didn't spot anything similar :\
 
just oral at the moment, last dose was 360, trying to cut down, considering plugging.
 
erm, thinking the sinusy headache may actually have been my sinuses. nasal spray seems to have helped. only spelling it out on here made me think of trying that though. sorry!

still perturbed by the lumpy, achy tattoo though.
 
It could be caused by histamine reaction, which can cause inflammation. Try some antihistamines, they're cheap and available OTC and take care of a lot of the side effects associated with opi use.
 
really? that's interesting. i'm pretty certain i heard a lass saying she didn't take dhc cos of what it does to her tattoos. but that seems like an entirely satisfactory explanation. thank you very much.
 
Honestly, i'm not too sure, but that seems like the most feasible explanation. Post in this thread once you try em and lemme know if it works =D
 
further research (on google!) seems to be suggesting that the sinus pressure could be related to histamine release too. so instead of taking pseudoephedrine in the morning, i'll just nip down to the chemist and try some over the counter antihistamines as recommended. thank you >.<
 
...except it's sunday tomorrow. doh! ych well, do have a friend who takes antihistamines so will get some from her for now. and get back to you. thanks again x
 
i have some chlorphenamine maleate BP 4mg, have taken two (after 360mg DHC), and still have some lingering sinus pressure. wondering if i should up the antihistamine dose?

Diphenhydramine or Promethazine usually helped me the best in the past.

Available OTC here in the U.K
 
If you've taken two tabs, no need to take any more. It might just take a bit longer to kick in - in future, you should take antihistamines an hour or so before you eat the opiates.
 
before? will try that tomorrow. will also get some Promethazine, i ended up taking some pseudoephedrine for the sinuses. no trouble with the tattoo so far though so that's good.
 
Note: If the anti-histamine causes no sedation, IT SUCKS ASS.

Use first generation antihistamines, those will always be the most effective ones.

Well, the 2nd and 3rd gen aren't going to potentiate as much, but they're very helpful if you suffer from bad histamine reactions. Like with me, for example, I may have to take 10+ antihistamine pills during an opi session. If I stuck to 1st gen, those amounts would put me into delerium and potentially cause heart problems.

Not everyone wants the sedation in addition to not itching through their skin. However I do find them more effective as well (1st gens).
