Do you think it is dangerous to excersize on opiates/amphetamines?

I often get the work out bug when I am groovin on opiates or speeding out, I do high intensity workouts, plyometrics and weightlifting. I am wondering if taking either with the added stress of the exercise could be too much on my heart.
I am 21 yrs old and have no known heart conditions.

This would be something to discuss with your doctor. The best that I can say is to wear a heartrate monitor and keep an eye on your vitals.

It's very possible to run into problems, however of the two I'd assume more so with stimulants due to the vascoconstriction and obviously heightened CNS / heart rate.

I personally never liked using opiates while working out. After for sure though. Good ole marijuana is where it's at. Zone out and run for miles and miles or climb all day. Good stuff.

However, as I initially stated, this is something to discuss with a healthcare professional.

Okay man, that's good to know. Marijuana is def the best workout drug for the exact reason you stated, you just zone out.

I wouldn't advise doing it. When ever I am on opiates, my heart rate climbs very fast if I am being too active. Example, my heart rate increases, I turn pale white, get really nauseous and feel like I am litteraly gonna die.

Opioids can slow your respiratory rate meaning less oxygen getting into your bloodstream, so probably not a good idea to exercise too hard on them (can't imagine why you would want to anyway!)

Amphetamines - well, people dance for hours on them, but you don't want to elevate your heart rate too much when it is already raised, plus with vasoconstriction it could be dangerous as PJ said.. you don't want to raise your body temp and dehydrate yourself any more also.

Exercising is best done when not on drugs :)

Weed isn't a drug anyway! But hot damn, safety meetings make a workout session go by so much easier.

Haha I missed the weed comment, skim-reading, oops.. I can't imagine wanting to work out when stoned personally but each to their own!

The trick is to get stoned while on the way to where you're going - that way you're already committed to the activity. Total failure if you do so at home before leaving. Then it's xbox time... :D

Frankly, I don't see how working out on opiates is appealing over other more sedentary activities? I nice walk in a park, maybe, but full-on working out on opiates sounds unpleasant. I don't think it is the best idea because they can easily mask any pain or discomfort caused by a work-out and then you just overwork yourself despite a possible or potential injury. As mentioned, also, opiates do depress the respiratory system which means less oxygen being taken in. Exercising on amphetamines is definitely not a good idea because of the fact that amphetamines will increase your BPM and blood pressure by themselves, and will mask fatigue and increase motivation to continue exercising. The result could be bad. So these are two drugs I would not advise to exercise on.
